I have been using them on a strained hamstring, primarily the side of my knee. Because I have arthritis in both of my hands I activate the packs by stepping on them gently, if you have normal hands they should be easy to use. Follow the directions on the pack.

Its good enough for an instant relief but its not ice cold and lasts only less than 10 minutes.

This product is very easy to use. Great value for price . Perfect size . Does not leak . High performance. Perfect to use on the go or for any injury that requires ice .

Unlike other purchased instant cold-packs due to:
— poor design:
A. requires tremendous effort to attempt to activate these instant cold-packs, which defy activating via hands (folding, pressing, etc) and also via standing upon while holding increasingly more weight in backpack, or pressing against a counter, or sitting upon, etc etc.
B. A handful of packets actually had their outer shell give way, spewing out white pellets, with interior packet still intact.
— insuffient and/or expired “chemical” materials content: in the unlikely event one is actually able to activate a packet, and it does not break open in the process,
A. these do not become cold — despite vigorous shaking and various ambient temperatures, including room temperature — at best, they can become cool (whereas such products usually become icy-cold, prior to reaction slowing/ceasing).
B. Coolness lasted between two to almost four or five minutes
Disappointed in this product since it is difficult to impossible for user to activate, does not become cold (just cool, at best), and apparently has poor design (i.s., is “user-hostile”), contains inferior and/or expired and/or insufficient oe/or poorly proportioned ingredients, and apparently has not been through any testing or quality control. This waste of money, time, and effort has us doubting fidelity of product reviews, since they do not/not match our experiences with this AllSettHealth not-quite-Instant cool-not-Cold Pack, or questionable efficacy if you actually manage to activate it without needing to vaccuum up its pellets.
Unless you want frustration, pain, and a clean-up on aisle… wherever they break, please please please buy anything else for your sports medicin uses and first aid kits re-stocking. Pretty please, because you’ll save money, frustration, time, and effort this way.

I’m going to the UK for two weeks and will be staying in hotels without ice machines. Rooms in London and Edinburgh are wicked expensive and small, so I use chains like Z Hotel and Yotel. I have a heel injury and needed an option for icing it in the room several times throughout the evening.
I tested one at home, to be sure they worked, and they do. The size is perfect for resting my heel on, and it would also work well for joints like wrists, elbows, and jaws, as well as any bruised area. They’re also big enough to use on knees, but you might need two (one for front and one for back) if you have a true knee injury. They’d also be handy for use after oral surgery.
They’re VERY hard to crack to get started, at least for wimpy me! I found the best way was to bend it in half and step on it, which instantly worked. So don’t kill yourself trying to crack it by hand. 🙂
It only stayed icy cold for about 10 minutes, and cool for another 10. This is long enough to do a typical icing for swelling or pain. You can always use a second one if necessary, but I’d personally just choose to do a second icing an hour or two later.
Mine didn’t “sweat” or have condensation on the outside after use. However, I used it at room temperature; your mileage may vary in a hot environment.
These take up very little room in my suitcase, and since they’re small, I can pack them into various nooks/shoes/etc. As I use them and dispose of them, I’ll free up space for souvenirs.
BTW, these are not liquid, so you can take them through TSA without counting them toward your liquids allowance. You might still get screened for inspection–I’ve had this happen with powdered items, as well as items the scanner can’t see through (my gummy bears always trigger it LOL). Regardless, you’ll be allowed to take it through even if they have to take a look at it.
I’m glad to have the big box of these–I’ll take several on this trip, and have the rest for camping, future trips, etc.
Also…I live in a three-story home, so I’ll probably keep a few up on the top floor. They’ll come in handy for when I wake up during the night with a migraine and don’t want to trek all the way downstairs!
you, me and margaritas –
the product is great and stays cold for a while, only thing they can be hard to activate. it can take a little work to break the inner bag.. but once that is done they work great and the szie is just right.

They get ice cold quick. Liquid cold so no ice edges. I ordered mine on a road trip, shoulder injury.
They last long enough for the 15-20 mins on. Great for home use quick, no mess. They were a little smaller than I expected but I am terrible with measurements.

Read the instructions on how to activate before you need to use them. I found them easy to activate. Having been in the situation where an ice pack was needed but no one had one, I bought a box of them. I gave each of my Pickleball partners one and I put two in my Pickleball bag, two in my golf bag, two in my car’s first-aide kit, two in the garage. Do you get the picture? The rest are easily accessible. When a young visitor hurt his foot and his mom asked for ice, a plastic bag and a dish towel (which would have taken time to gather) I was able to quickly activate the ice pack and apply to his foot. I believe it was the almost immediate application which prevented his foot from swelling.
