This works, however it doesn’t eliminate acclimation problems completely for me.
If i take it when we go skiing (7,000–11,000 ft) I have no I’ll effects while I’m there (other than a little trouble sleeping–which happens every time I travel, which it’s why I pack ambien for trips).
However, when i get back home (500 ft.), I have terrible de-acclimation problems: headache, nausea, difficulty breathing, difficulty concentrating, tiredness.
So if i take it, I have no problems on the trip, but feel bad a couple days when i get home.
But if i don’t take, I feel bad a couple days on the trip, but have no trouble when i return home.
Choose your poison, I guess. I’d rather have a great trip and convalesce at home.

I was told to get these for a trip to Vail CO due to the very high altitude. I started them a few days before I left (packaging says to start 24 hrs prior to the trip) and I feel they helped tremendously!!!! The elevation never affected me or my husband. Our breathing was never difficult since these help with all that! Will definitely take them again any time we travel to higher elevations.

I’ve been to the mountains three times. The first two times I had altitude sickness to the point where I could not eat more than one or two bites of food without feeling horribly ill.
I had headaches and I was dizzy all the time.
My third trip to the mountains was for a ski trip with friends a few weeks ago. I was nervous I would have the same reaction as before and would not be able to participate and drag our group down, so I got these pills in hopes to avoid that. THEY WORKED.
I started taking the pills a day or so before we left and took one in the morning and one in the evening every day that we were there and I hardly had any of the the usual symptoms. I could feel sometimes the pill starting to wear off and that’s when I would take my next one. That aligned with the timing of taking them on the directions.
You get a lot of pills for the money. This will last you a long time.
I’m so glad I got these, they saved our ski trip.
I also get really bad altitude sickness while flying in airplanes. I plan on using these for my next plane trip as well.
I don’t care if it is just a placebo effect. It was well worth the $35 for me to not feel miserable for a week and get to enjoy the trip with my friends and family.

Altitude Rx is a life saver! We just bought a vacation house in the mountains that is at 11300 feet, and we live at sea level. I had never heard of altitude sickness until I experienced it, and it was no picnic! I get it all nausea, vomiting, headache, dizziness and extreme fatigue for the first 4 days. And I have experienced this 3 out of 3 times we went up to our house. I even tried staying at lower altitudes for 2 nights before heading up and still got sick. I tried Ginko Biloba and it may have helped just a little. After reading the reviews I figured this would be worth it even if it only relieved my symptoms somewhat. A warning before taking this, be careful what you eat and how full you are. The directions said take with food, but this medication has a bicarbonate effect, you can actually feel it bubbling up in to your throat. So if you take it on a full stomache you may loose your lunch so to speak. I took it after a banana smoothie and the effect was much like the banana/sprite challenge, not pretty. I took the additional doses after eating but I waited about an hour and a half. Also the directions on the bottle and the directions on their website do not match. So this is what I did. I took 2 pills for 1 day morning and night starting 24 hrs before I left. So here is the life saving part, No altitude sickness at all! The only thing I did experience which I am sure was from sleep deprivation from the drive was upon arriving in our town at 9900 feet, I felt light headed and had trouble breathing, but within 20 minutes that was gone. So after being at our house for about 3 days I did start to feel a little fatigued and my head was hurting a little so I took another dose and I was back on track. Highly recommend this product!

Bought this specifically for the Mt Everest Base Camp Trek in Nepal. I started taking Altitude RX the day before heading into the mountains and for the duration of the trek. It worked flawlessly or I was not at risk. Either way I had no major symptoms and a mild headache for a few minutes at 17,500 feet. So product certainly seemed to do its part.
Will use again if trekking takes me to high altitudes.

This is a difficult product to review as I have only used once and can’t be sure of the effects of high altitude without taking this food supplement, but here you go.
The trip; I used Altitude RX (following all the instructions ) on a recent trip to Bolivia. While in Bolivia my altitude was never below 3600m for around 6 days. I flew directly from Lima 0m to La Paz 3600m with no time to acclimatise. The first 2 days of the trip I was definitely getting used to the altitude and suffering with occasional shortness of breath and a bad headache on the second day. After the first 2 days I felt more acclimatised and more active. I did however have a lack of appetite for the majority of my trip. On the 5th day we stayed at 4300m and after falling asleep in the car I woke up feeling like, for lack of a better description, I was in a bubble. We also traveled to 5400m where I actually felt fine as long as I didn’t exert myself.
The product; It’s difficult for me to say if this product worked as my symptoms could well have been worse without it. There is a high amount of Vit C and E included which could well make you feel better if like me lack of appetite is a problem. I can say that it was nice to have Altitude RX on the trip even if it was just for a placebo effect. If I travel to high altitude again I will take the tablets once more.
Advice; I can highly recommend taking O.R.S Hydration Tablets. These can keep you hydrated and really helped get me out the bubble. Paracetamol, plenty of water, Coca tea and light but calorific meals all really help.
Happy high altitude travels!

Before you buy this, know that even though it is not a prescription you will not be able to return it – even if it is completely unopened. Also, you can have a doctor prescribe Acetazolamide and it may well be less expensive. This drug has been around a long time and has a good history of use for this and other issues.
The reason I ordered this was because I was told that my doctor would not write the script without seeing me. I was traveling for business so not able to make that happen before needing to have this for my vacation travel. I had a very fit friend who became very ill with altitude sickness – I did not want to risk the same fate so ordered this thinking that something was better than nothing. Now I am stuck with it.
If you are going to have a no return policy for a non-script item, I feel it should be up front about it and state this somewhere in the product detail. There is nothing indicating this could not be returned. The lack of transparency makes me wonder about effectiveness of the product itself.
I spent less than $20 for the acetazolamide. I’d rather take the proven remedy than something that has little testing behind it.

I am allergic to Diamox (altitude drug) and thus needed to find an alternative. I took the Altitude RX natural supplement as directed and I made it to Everest Base Camp with little to no altitude symptoms. My oxygen levels remained in the norm up to and over 17000 feet, I experienced zero nausea and only a slight headache in the morning which is normal and was cured with an advil/ibuprofen. I would highly recommend Altitude RX to any mountaineer or altitude trekker. No side effects and again I MADE IT TO EVEREST BASE CAMP!!!

i read about altitute sickness – so to prepare for my trips to Machu Picchu in Peru and also to Bogota, Colombia, i took this altitude medicine. I did not get sick at all in either country, i did not have any heachaches or nausea. the pills did their job and i experienced no side effects. i started taking them a few days before the start of each trip and took them during each trip as well. worth the money
