The biscuits have a noticeable scent of maple about them and taste amazing.
They are a bit dry though, wouldn’t hurt to have a drink handy when eating these.

Despite this food being mostly known in North America for being featured in the Metal Gear Solid games, CalorieMate has been a mainstay of the busy on-the-go Japanese lifestyle for quite some time. Each package of CalorieMate is divided into two foil pouches, and each pouch contains two blocks of the food. Each block is 100 calories, meaning that if you have one block it’s a nice snack, and if you have a whole box it might replace a light meal. They’re extremely dense but not difficult to eat; think almost like a dense shortbread cookie. Nutritionally, they’re nothing to write home about; they certainly aren’t meant to be a long-term solution. Still, in an emergency, it’s a good thing to have on hand.
The maple flavor is remarkably strong even from the first bite, and it’s not just a hint of it. I love maple syrup and so biting into this to try it out was a delight. I’ve tried a couple of other flavors of the food before but I think this is my new favorite.
My only complaint is that the packages I got had a very near “best by” date, only about 4 months. If you’re buying these to put in an emergency kit or a get-out-now bag, make sure you keep an eye on their shelf life and rotate them out as you need to. Not that you’ll complain too much if you end up eating the ones you’re replacing.

While there’s a lot of people who try these thanks to a very specific video game, they’re actually really nice for keeping in a ration pack in the car during the winter. I usually like to make my own over using one of those pre-built kits and these usually go in there as well as water and other items. It also helps that these maple flavor ones have a really nice taste to them, as long as you like maple.

Each box contains two small packets, and each packets contains two shortbread kind of cookies at the size of a finger.
Each of the cookies contains 100 calories and all other nutrients that keep you fulfilled for hours from hungry.
Taste is good, really really good, identical to the maple that you have with maple syrup for pancakes. It is little bit dry to taste so it is recommended to consume it with plenty of water as it works best when it expands in the stomach so it reach its performance to keep you full.
Recommend? Yes.

Each block comes with four cookies/bricks. Each roughly 4 to 5 inches long, but are dense and flavorful.
I would recommend eating 1 or 2 bars as a light morning snack if you plan to have a full meal at lunch. There are a lot of carbs so I would not eat the whole box as a dietary alternative to other breakfast foods, but a small serving is good when alternatives are unavailable.
Each bar is effective at sating hunger when enjoyed with water as a snack, and I can easily see someone consuming less carbs/calories overall if using a CaloreMate bar as a replacement for typical junk food.

These are actually quite tasty. A little dry, but a whole lot better than Russian rations or flying squirrel. And they’re Para-Medic approved! Perfect for an afternoon picnic in Sokrevenno, or just a snack while exploring the wonders of Grozny Grad.
Also, since I can get these on Amazon, I no longer have to crawl under trucks or creep along dangerous ledges to get them. And because it’s a lot of calories in a small package, I can carry quite a few of them in my (apparently invisible) pack, along with my hundreds of pounds of weapons and ammo. Not to mention about twenty different changes of clothes. Obviously space is at a premium!
Seriously, these are good. Kinda expensive, but they’re a novel snack for any MGS fan. Also not a bad idea for an emergency preparedness kit. High in calories, small in size. Box measures 4 in. by 4 1/4 in. by 3/4 in. Each box is 400 calories(4 bars, 100 calories each).
Make Major Zero proud, and give them a try. I doubt you’ll regret it!
