17 cents an ounce? How did they get this to be so cheap! This bag is huge, 5 whole pounds for only $14 or almost $3 a pound. If you’ve ever used turmeric before, you’ll know that a little goes a long way. I’ll probably be using this bag easily for the next year. It also comes with a tiny spoon which is nice, it looks to be about a teaspoons worth of size. The flavor is great!
The expiration date on the package also says this should last for about 2 years which seems like a pretty reasonable shelf life. It also comes with a resealable seal so it’ll probably live on my shelf until I run out. If you’re looking for cheap quality turmeric, this is a great way to buy in bulk!

I have been a fan of Turmeric (Curcuma longa) over the years and use it in cooking. An essential flavoring spice of Indian and other ethnic cuisines it provides the typical yellow color of many curry dishes and helps to render food more digestible. Its history of use in folk medicine and studies indicate Turmeric may also be useful in treating a variety of health conditions. While it is best to avoid large doses, it generally has no know toxicity with a quality powder/source in regard to therapeutic uses.
This USDA organic Turmeric powder is raw, GMO and filler free. It is packaged in an earth friendly recyclable 5-pound zip top bag. For ease of use I’m storing a reasonable amount in another container as this is happily going to last me awhile. It does come with a small plastic scoop inside the bag, and you may have to dig around in the powder a bit in order to locate or just use about 1/2 teaspoon full which is about the same amount. Store in a cool dry place.

The 5-pound bag of Organic Turmeric Powder is listed at an excellent price. I have finger dexterity problems, so I store the Turmeric in jars with tight-fitting lids instead of resealing the bag.
I’m almost OCD about checking for interactions between new supplements and the prescription meds and OTC meds and supplements I’m using. Doing a quick search, I found a prescription blood thinner that may pose a problem.
I have problems with the over-production of stomach acid and use OTC and prescription meds to ease the discomfort. I researched and found that using Tumeric as a supplement isn’t advisable for me.
Small amounts of Turmeric can be used in recipes without any effect. Another great use of Turmeric is making brine for some types of pickles.

I have used turmeric in cooking forever, but a friend encouraged me to try turmeric as a supplement about six months ago, and I have been making tea with it since then. That means I end up going through a lot of this spice.
This turmeric powder seems to be good quality and it is basically the same as other supplements packs I’ve purchased in stores. The tea taste is consistent with what I am accustomed to. This has the same expected earthy taste but I have tasted turmeric that has more of a spicy kick. This is still very good, and I think its ever better for cooking. I cooked a Thai-style chicken dish with this, I feel like the turmeric flavor was more pronounced. In cooking it performed exactly like I expected.
I think this is good quality, the spice visually looks exactly like you would expect. In this bulk bag I think this is a good value purchase as well.

This bag arrived and made me laugh. It is comically huge! I say that as a compliment. 5 pounds of powder is so much more than I expected.
This powder is very finely ground. It is almost lighter than air, (much like cat hair.)
It mixes well in cold and hot liquids. I use it primarily by adding a scoop to my hot tea and coffee. I use one scoop to a heaping scoop and it gives a nice zing to my tea/coffee.
I also really appreciate that it comes with a scooper. The scooper is 1/4 of a tsp.
This bag is going to last me a LONG time. I found it was easier to decant some of the powder to a more manageable container rather than continually opening/closing the zipper on the bag it comes in. Also, should I knock it over, this way I won’t lose the whole bag, if I make a mess.
Bottom line: it tastes great, you get a wild amount for your money and GMO free.
