I’ve purchased two of these and each lasted one year before dying (battery still runs but it just stutters, the head stopped spinning). When the second one died recently, I wasn’t going to purchase this one again because in my memory, it had been closer to $90 or so. But when I found this page, I see that it’s currently under $15. So I’m purchasing it for a third time. It seems crazy wasteful, since the idea is that it will just keep working and you can change out the brush heads only, but it does work nicely and I like that it’s small to pack for traveling.

In sum: works great for about a year, but since it’s cheap, it’s still my preferred toothbrush.

Love the power. Not too strong, not too light. Love that it helps to fight plaque. Love the timer feature. Love that I don’t have to keep it on my bathroom counter. Great purchase!

There are several reasons to buy this toothbrush: 1) It has a two-minute timer, 2) it is widely available (not just Amazon, but also Walmart, Target, several supermarkets), 3) uses standard Oral-B heads, which are also widely available along with a plentify supply of super inexpensive third-party replacements, and 4) uses two AA batteries. The fourth reason is probably the most underrated of all, as it means you can easily swap out the batteries without having to wait for a recharge; you don’t need to bring a charger when you travel (since you know you can easily find replacement batteries if necessary); and, importantly, at end-of-life and the electric toothbrush needs to be disposed of, it can be done so safely. The other toothbrushes with a sealed battery pose disposal problems because extracting the batteries from the plastic casing is so complex that no one does it, leading to precious and often toxic substances being deposited in landfills or incinerated.

I use rechargeable Panasonic NIMH Eneloop AA batteries, and despite using the toothbrush 2-5X a day, they usually last about a month before I have to pop them in a battery charger.

There are items for which I appreciate and prefer USB or wireless charging, but this is a use case where I much prefer AA batteries for the reasons above.

I also much prefer this toothbrush over the Sonicare toothbrush I had before it (but it died) in just about every way: price, size, toothbrush head availability, no charger, uses AA batteries, etc. It also cleans as well or better as far as I can tell.

Good value, and most importantly, I do not have to find an outlet in order to recharge thus making it truly portable.

I would buy it again. nice and light for travel. They should sell it in a little travel case. The one issue – putting the battery in. I just could not open the bottom part to get the battery in, no matter what I did. I tried to call customer service but was told to call back during certain hours and was put in voice jail. Finally, finally I hit the bottom white piece with a hammer (!!!), with the bottom part wrapped in a towel, and was able to get the batteries in, a big relief because I really wanted to use it. Except for this issue I has not disappointed, although right now I am only on day two. Another issue, not Oral B related, was that I had to order it twice. The first item shows up as being delivered, but I think it was delivered somewhere else. An envelope came, but I had ordered several things at once and the toothbrush wasn’t there. I really wanted it so I ended up ordering it again after my attempt to fix this with Amazon got nowhere. But even at what I consider double the price because I paid twice, I think it is worth it. I still hope that a second one appears somehow because it is a good product and there is someone I would give it to.

If your sick and tired of buying rechargeable toothbrushes with internal batteries that quickly loose their charge capacity and can’t be replaced, then this toothbrush is for you. These toothbrushes also feature electronics that keep the motor voltage constant – and hence maintain optimal orbital brushing speed – even as the battery voltage declines as they discharge. So motor power is held consistant right up until the end when the batteries near complete depletion where finally the motor just stops. So you get optimal performance right to the end of set of batteries! This feature also means despite the lower voltage of using 2x 1.2V NiMH rechargeable cells, you get the same brushing speed and power as using 2x 1.5V Alkaline cells. This is great! as rechargeable NiMH cells last longer due to holding more charge capacity, are cheaper in the long-term, and save you throwing out bucket loads of spent Alkaline cells that would end up in landfill.

Build quality of the units is great as you’d expect for a Braun, even for a cheaper unit. The battery chamber seals well but can be perfected by applying a thin layer of vaseline or other grease around the O-ring of the lower snap out section. This guarantees moisture vapour can’t get into the battery chamber which over time can corrode rechargable batteries in long term service.

The on/off switch is smartly sealed beneath a rubber membrane which ensures water can’t get into the internals.

The 2-minute timer is a nice feature. At this time interval the motor briefly oscillates off-on-off-on to let you know how long you’ve been brushing but if you wan’t to keep brushing, you can as it doesnt turn the motor off.

Overall this brush is great, especially for the price. The fact that ageing rechargable batteries can be replaced as their capacity diminishes means you can expect years of service from one of these, whereas the more expensive units with internal batteries are useless junk as soon as they loose the majority of their capacity.

I changed from using a Spinbrush Pro clean to this Braun, and the improvement is terrific. The Spinbrush ran too-slow on lower voltage rechargable batteries, the battery chamber leaked, the button corroded and became unreliable, and batteries quickly corroded due to the leaking chamber. All these problems are remedied with this Braun model.
