I have been hearing about all of the benefits of tallow skincare and thought why not give a few of these a try. For $30+, I would expect to get more than an oversized sample sized jar. This can really add up if you are using it on more than just your face. It also was a bit on the greasy side to me, but that might just be the nature of a product like this. I’m not sure I would actually spend the money on this, but it is a decent product overall.

It’s officially cold outside and my hands are really feeling it, especially after doing the dishes and increasing handwashing. I have now moved this container over to the kitchen sink area and use it immediately after. I’ve noticed a difference in how healthy and moisturized my skin is, particularly around my cuticles and nail beds. It works great and a little goes a long way!

I live in snow country. During the summer I prefer lighter moisturizers so would not reach for a tallow product. But when winter comes we have to protect our skin with maximum fats and minimal water-like ingredients. When the temps drop it seems like you can feel the moisture being stripped from your skin as it happens – even as the skin is going numb from the cold!
I like to add a layer of protection when I get out of the shower, whether I’m headed out doors or not. When I know I’m going out, 20-30 minutes before I go, I add a second layer to ensure that the moisture is locked in as well as can be.
Tallow is the original skin protectant against bitter cold. This tallow does a good job against whipping wind and freezing temps like we’re starting to experience here in the PNW. I have faith that it’s going to provide reasonable protection for time out doors when the snow is thick. I will be transferring a portion to a container that seals well to carry with us. The container that I received may have been slightly over poured, or it may have had a minimal leak (delivered during warmer temps) as there was a trace of product under the protective seal on the outside of the jar.
We’ve had very windy close-to-freezing temps a few times these last few days. This has given me an opportunity to put this product to a decent test. It goes on smoothly and absorbs pretty well; not sure my powered foundation would be a good match with this as my moisturizer, but I think liquid foundation would work OK. The second layer, typically applied 1-3 hrs after the first and shortly before going outside, also absorbs pretty well but I put enough that I can feel the barrier, especially on my lips, edges of ears, and orbital sockets.
I’m happy to report that my hair doesn’t get annoyingly glued to my face like when I use petroleum jelly which is very protective but doesn’t absorb well. Shortening has the same benefits and problem. Plus these two things stain our clothing.
This tallow washes out of fabrics pretty easily and just barely has any smell at all. I think it does a good job. And I’m convinced that a lot of consideration and care has been worked into the formula. But I’m not convinced that at the current price point and considering how much heavy skin barrier protection we go through annually, that this will become the ‘go to’ product in our household. We may just have to continue dealing with stuck hairs and extra steps for acceptable laundry results.

This all-natural, beef tallow balm has worked wonders on my very dry, sensitive skin. The balm itself has a thick, creamy consistency thats a bit greasy once applied. It has a faint tallow/cocoa butter scent to it that dissipates once it’s fully absorbed. It’s a tad bit on the pricer side, so I tend to only use it on drier areas like my feet, hands, knees, and elbows. I really love how this balm instantly makes my skin feel so soft and moisturized. Overall, I’m very happy with how my skin feels and it’s a great product for my day to day skincare routine.

I’ve become a big fan of Tallow products recently.
I appreciate the thicker consistency and the fact that it has very little scent to it.
It moisturizes well but it’s such a small jar that I kind of have to ration it out to just hands, heels, elbows, and knees.
It does have a slightly greasy feel to it which is my one complaint.
