This product was recommended by my Clinical Nutritionist for two reasons: to introduce magnesium to individual muscles in a way that bypasses the digestive system and because the formula does not leave a sticky feeling on skin. She had tried many different products but found this one to be the best to recommend to patients because of ease of use and comfort on skin. Having used the product I agree with her recommendation.

This is not oil whatsoever. You can’t rub it in like I was expecting. I didn’t use it more than once. I love taking magnesium and when I don’t take it for a few days, my neck starts aching. I was hoping to get some more immediate relief with this, but I could not feel any difference when I did spray it on.

We were introduced to this product at our local Whole Foods a couple of years ago. Both my husband and I had stiff and achy necks and backs at the time so I had stopped to view pain relief remedies. I saw a sample sitting on the shelf and the person managing that area suggested we try it – she said that within 10 minutes, our pain would go away. And like magic, while walking around Whole Foods, both my husband and I realized that we no longer felt achy!
Ever since then, we keep 2 bottles in the house – one for ourselves, and one for anyway that visits us that complains of similar aches and pains. It won’t cure a headache (I think); but gosh, for those times that your back or neck is aching because you moved funny or slept in an odd position, it’s still like magic, every time!
(BTW, the gal at Whole Foods encouraged us to get this brand because in her experience, other brands dilute the product to reduce the price. This product may be expensive, but you really don’t use very much at a time – one bottle lasted both my husband and me for more than 1 year.)

I’ve been using Sunfoods Magnesium Oil daily for 4 years and can’t say enough about the benefits of this wonderful product.
I spray my knees, my arms and my chest before bedtime and fall asleep very easily. If I awake and don’t fall asleep right away another couple spritz’s and off I go to slumberland. This is from someone who lay awake for hours because I couldn’t turn my brain off. My husband now has a bottle on his nightstand and is using it to spray on his legs before bedtime because he has Charlie horses at night. Use it generously and feel it’s very nice effect. I have not been paid to write this review.

This brand is more expensive than many other magnesium oil sprays on the market, but in my opinion it is worth it. The dosing per spray is higher than most. It is my favorite because it does not make my skin burn or itch. There is no left-over, salty residue that has to be wiped off later … Who has time for that?
I have trouble tolerating oral magnesium, so I use this spray, along with Epsom Salt soaks. I recommend giving this a try.

Bought this product because of an article about it in a woman’s magazine – suppose to help with lower back pain in particular.
This product is on the expensive side, so pleased to find out that it really works. I decided to buy this particular brand because I have purchased other Sunfood products in the past. Also, because I was buying it for various back pains & spasms that might occur, felt I really wanted a product that stood a chance of working effectively.
First time I used the oil was during the middle of the night several days ago, got up with some hip pain. Sprayed some oil onto a non latex glove & rubbed it into the area. Went back to bed & was fast asleep in no time. Did go the next day to my chiropractor but at least I got a good night sleep.
This is the type of supplement I will only use when needed, but it worked when I needed it & that’s what counts.

Works. Relieves tightness, tension, and at least some pain. I spray it on sore muscles and tight, knotted shoulders. Even sprayed it in my hair once, into my scalp and on the back of my neck, for a nasty headache, it helped a lot, I was able to get to sleep after that.
I don’t think this spray is sticky, rather the consistency of water. I don’t like sticky magnesium spray, another brand I tried was like that and I’ve read a lot of reviews on “top” brands where a lot of people complain of stickiness. This is not sticky and it doesn’t smell. It also works better than the bottle of sticky stuff -the other brand -I have.
I don’t know why Sunfoods is so expensive though and not much — 4 ounces. It works very well but it’s not a miracle cure or anything. They should try to bring their price down or people will buy other brands, sticky or not. I’ll keep buying this brand as long as I can afford it. If I can no longer afford it someday I’ll definitely shop for another brand.
Update Nov 12, 22: Since originally ordering this brand some years ago I was looking for a less expensive brand and tried 3 different companies. None one worked as good as the Sunfoods. I got a refund on one brand but kept the 2 others. Still can’t say the other 2 brands -one which stated it was organic -either just don’t work as well or are stickier than I like.
Ok, so I broke down a few months ago and ordered Sunfoods again. The bottle that came in was different from the first bottle I ordered some years ago, not a big deal, I guess. But the bottle was different, the label was a little different and it also seemed to be filled too low. I was a little concerned so I contacted Sunfoods through Amazon just to ask them if they made these changes (I described them in detail) or could I have possibly received a counterfeit bottle. I never heard back from them. This really ticked me off so I sent their mag oil back.
I did try the product but as I wasn’t haven’t any leg cramps or headaches at the time I couldn’t tell if it was ‘working’ or not.
It possibly could have been a counterfeit bottle or maybe not. But I don’t see why Sunfoods didn’t answer my querry, concerns about knock-offs are very legitimate these days and most brands will reassure their customers or alert them to labelling &/or bottling inconsistencies that signify counterfeits. It’s not an insult to ask a company if they changed their packaging given the prevalence of counterfeiting.
So there ya go.
My conclusion is that a legitimate bottle of Sunfoods mag oil is absolutely the best brand you can find, by far. But they could stand to work on their customer service etiquette. I can’t tell you if the bottle I received was really from Sunfoods or not, it would have been nice to receive a little reassurance or feedback from the company. …So I’m docking them a star and may never order from them again bcz the organic brand I ordered is quite a bit less expensive, it does work, just not quite as good as the Sunfoods and it’s a tad sticky, but I can deal with it.
