This is a fantastic product, and for most people would be a great addition for purposes of exogenous ketone supplementation. But don’t let this distract from the fact that this supplement provides about 2500 mg of potassium. Certain people should not take this. Firstly, if you have ANY type of kidney/renal issues, or if you are taking a diuretic (water pill) you need to talk to a doctor before considering this. You should probably mention this to your doctor anyway, since if they see your potassium is at the higher end of normal, it may affect their medical decision making (they will assume dietary potassium is high), which could cause issues if you ever suddenly stopped taking this. Also, hyperkalemia (high potassium) is a medical emergency, so if you already have a high potassium diet, don’t take this! There are other cation carriers for ketones, so look into sodium ketone or magnesium ketone, and of course make sure to do your homework on those electrolytes as well. I am focusing this review on the named product only.
The daily recommended potassium is 4700 mg, and that’s pretty difficult for most people to hit naturally. However, that is the optimal amount, but an adequate intake is about 3400 mg, for normal bodily functioning. This can also be tough to hit, depending on your diet. If you just eat whatever you feel like, I highly doubt you get there, because most high-carbohydrate foods are deficient in potassium, as are most processed foods. Fruits, leafy greens, fish and avocados are the best sources. However, if you are on a ketogenic diet, low-carb or vegan, you probably get your 3400 but probably not 4700 mg. For that reason, this product is good to make up the difference as well, if you need it. You should do a food diary and figure out your typical potassium intake before starting this, to make sure your intake isn’t too high. It might be worthwhile to have your potassium checked during a yearly family doctor visit just to see where it puts you. For reference, a whole banana contains 400 mg of potassium, meaning one scoop of this supplement contains 6 banana equivalents in potassium! Most potassium supplements in pill form contain only 99 mg, making this equivalent of 25 pills!
As you can see, you need to do your homework before taking this. But the product itself is not dangerous if taken as directed, and taken by a fully informed patient, preferably under the direction of a medical or nutritional professional.

I looked at several brands before deciding to purchase the Nutricost Potassium BHB. I chose this brand because the amount of potassium per serving higher than most other brands listed. I was not getting enough potassium from the food I was eating, doing keto, and was having toe and calf cramps. I am not having the cramps now, so it seems to be helping. It mixes well in drinks. But it does have a heavy taste. I worked around this by mixing it with two cups of water, instead of one, and adding in a heavy squirt of berry flavored water enhancer. I sip on it till gone.

I thought being fatigued was part of a Keto diet.. but this powder does THREE things:
1. it gives you mental clarity (for me much like coffee but with out the coffee drop off)
2. it smashes hunger so you can fast comfortably…
3. It is a dang good electrolyte… so I take it with me when hiking if I need a boost OR need electrolytes…
IT WILL CLUMP SO KEEP IT COOL DRY AND THE JAR TIGHTLY SEALED…

By end of 2nd day using only a half a scoop, that i divided up by 3 (AM/lunch/mid day), i finally got a small ketone result and on fourth day, i got almost the dark purple 10.0 reading.. happy with these results since i needed that push to get me into a ketosis state and help me deal with the very low carb temporary side effects, mainly no energy, achiness and foggy brain. it has help in those areas too BUT, for the bad headaches that i started getting yesterday, it works best at mostly ridding of those when combined with 1/8 tsp of sodium in my mug of cooled down coffee (i use pink himalayan salt).. My usually low energy, even when wasn’t on low carb, was excellent yesterday even though i had that headache, i cleaned the whole house (well minus both bathrooms, hate cleaning those).
i choose this BHB with potassium version for am more than likely lacking in potassium (hard to tell really how much since not all food labels list that nutrient yet). I use myfitnesspal and it shows i have never even made my potassium level even halfway to requirements and now that i am on a permanent 30-40 low carb diet, i am getting even less potassium which is also apparently getting depleted when your in ketosis. I do only use half scoop though to be safe until i can get blood work done and i do love that this product contains such a high amount of potassium in it for it sure beats having to take loads of useless 99mg tablets/capsules everyday!!
i have sensitive tastebuds and there is NO nasty taste with this product when i mix it in my coffee w/ an ounce of fairlife 2% milk in it. it really doesn’t change how my coffee taste enough to notice it is in it at all if i add an extra drop or two of sweetener however, it does make it seem creamier..

I was hoping to add this as a shake addition, but the potassium taste is too strong, so I mix it with a little water a take it like a shot before washing it down. Still has the appetite suppressing and energy boost I was looking for, and always glad to up my potassium levels.

Overall a pretty good product, definitely helps my measurable ketone levels stay high where I like them, and makes it easier to get back into ketosis if a social event or family obligation has you consume a little more carbs than expected.
It definitely helps keep the energy levels up and the hunger down, which is especially important in an intermittent fasting keto diet. This product helps me to stay focused instead of trying to grab a snack that would kick me out of the fasting state.
The only warning I’d give is the taste. The product works like it’s supposed to but try to add flavoring to the mix when you’re about to drink it. Grab a sugar free calorie free drink powder and put it on the cup when you’re mixing the salts with water or you’re going to have a thick white liquid to take that is a little difficult to swallow. In my experience the flavor makes it easier to drink and swallow.
