Summary: I have been supplementing my diet with protein powders, but I find that PEA based proteins make me very gassy, so I have been using WHEY instead. The manufacturer of a product that is consumed (e.g. food and health supplements) is very important to me. Word play on who actually made a product is very important.
Recommendation: In the past couple of years, I have noticed that the country of origin has sometimes been stated to be “USA” per the Amazon product details (listing or images); HOWEVER, what is actually listed on the product contains a generic statement such as “distributed BY” or “manufactured FOR”. I find myself having to read the fine print on the back of the package. Sometimes a product will have the “Made in the USA” on front, but the actual manufacturer is ambiguously stated.
Observations: NUTRICOST offers +300 products at time of this review, with 18 being protein related. Their label states “Manufactured FOR”, which does not clearly state WHERE or BY WHO the product was made. I was a little confused when I read the servings size is nine (9) for a 6.7 pound bottle, which also says 1-1/2 cups (for 24 ounces of water), this is going to be a giant mud pie! So I compared it to another 5 lbs offering (listed below). While that one has half the protein, 25g vs. 50 g, the calorie count is where you clearly see the “mass gain”, a whopping 1240 calories vs. 140. This mass gain formula also contains a big dose of L-glutamine (2500mg) and Creatine Monohydrate (2500mg). They also offer a grass-fed option, which costs more but is more organic in nature, but does cost a little more.
Pros: Purpose designed for massive mass gain.
Cons: Ambiguous manufacturer; cost at $5/serving.
Conclusion: At $45 for 9-servings, rating this 3-stars (ambiguous manufacturer information).

Something thumps outside. I open the door – there’s a box. I didn’t order this. Not my problem. Ka-slam.
Then again, I didn’t pay for it. Whatever. Mass Gainer, 6.7 lbs. I can barely lift the tub. Double chocolate flavor. “Naturally flavored with other natural flavors.” That’s a lot of flavor. 1240 calories, 91% DV carbs per serving, 9 servings per tub. I text my nutrition coach friend. She replies immediately. “Do not put this in your body. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.”
Just one scoop. Just to prove … something. That I can’t be reasoned with? My brain nods: good enough for me. And it’s – like drinking a chocolate Easter bunny. I can’t believe how good it is. Why would she keep me from this? Then it hits, and I’m reeling – I’m shaking – with – excitement! I text her back a wall of complete gibberish. “That’ll be the maltodextrin,” she says. “I hope you’ve learned your lesson.”
What? I haven’t learned anything! This is unbelievable! I drink quart after quart, only stopping when I realize I could be lifting. I lift the tub. I lift the bar. I lift an elderly woman across the street. I feel my pecs and quads expanding. It all makes sense. I lift my grades. I feel my mind expanding.
I’m gaining: not just mass, but energy, life itself. I lift my own spirit. I feel a new kind of fatness expanding outward into the cosmos. I’m the Buddha: I’m a baby, getting bigger. I laugh mirthfully as I watch the waves of my laughter roll gently across my belly’s expanse. A battalion of restless elves swarms me and starts joyfully dancing to the beat of my heart. I am here with you. Stay with me. I am here with you now, and I am here with you now. We have already arrived where we always needed to be.
We have everything to gain. It costs us nothing. We open the box together.

Great composition and formulation as well as the quality ingredients. However I have to alter daily dose and make it specifically tailored to my individual exercise/workout plan, therefore I’m using a different measuring scoop (not the one that comes with the container). I enjoy the double chocolate flavor of this whey protein power. I simply mix one serving of 50 grams to my daily breakfast, either oatmeal, or yogurt with fruit, or Kefir or homemade fruit &veggie smoothie, so flexible, convenient and tasty. Would recommend it!

Before I get too far, this has the usual chocolate flavor. It still tastes like chocolate protein powder, but I haven’t noticed any weird aftertaste and it mixes pretty well. Overall, no real complaints.
Alright, back to the title: i was reading the container before I opened it, the recommended mixture is one scoop per 8 ounces. That seemed a bit on the low side, but whatever. I opened the container and I was happy to see the scoop at the top, that’s a nice surprise! The second surprise was the size of the scoop, holy cow. What bottles are you using?!? This doesn’t come close to pouring easily into my widemouth Nalgene bottle, which makes it annoying to mix up. This is by far the worst/biggest scoop I’ve come across. I’ve sure it’s convenient for those that use blenders, but for mixing in a bottle, it’s annoying. I wish they’d do more, smaller scoops– which is what I’ll end up doing, finding a smaller scoop and seeing how many of those it takes to equal this ginormous scoop.
Scoop aside, again, these stuff seems pretty good. it tastes alright, doesn’t leave you with weird tasting burps, and mixes fairly well. Price is a little high, but that seems to be the way things are trending.

Everyone knows that some protein powders leave you with a gross after taste, this is not one of them. The serving siE is huge though and it’s pretty pricy for the number of servings.

I’ve added this to my smoothies and it really helps add on the pounds during the bulk phase of my training. It is hard to gauge the ingredients but I found it blended well and tasted fine and didn’t seem to be off.
