This product changes serum levels of magnesium markedly. I am tested monthly, this mag pushes my levels up to normal within a week or two. It is the only mag I will take. And citrate form not only pushes up serum levels, it is available to the cells as it permeates the cell membrane.

For some reason, taking Mag supplements has always helped my GERD issues. I was able to come off the PPI’s once I started taking this sup. Worth a try if you are looking for new ways to manage your stomach issues. One thing I read is that magnesium is critical for nerve and muscle function, so if you are lacking this mineral, it could be once reason your LES is not functioning properly. Just my two cents.

I purchased Nutricology Magnesium Citrate at my local vitamin shop. The woman recommended this brand over the others. I also paid roughly twelve bucks for it at the store.

The reason I want to take Magnesium citrate is to help with my restless leg syndrome. Some people have found that it helps take away some of their jittery leg issues. So far I have seen mild improvement. I will continue.

Please note that products can change on Amazon. Manufacturers may decided to offer a different strength without updating the description. I purchased this in July of 2012 and the dosage was 170mg which is 43% daily value. My product was purchased via a local store but the bottle appears to be exactly the same. Just FYI.

Yes the pills are large. Quite large, but I haven’t had any trouble swallowing them. I normally have issues swallowing pills. For some reason I can get these down with no problem.

You need magnesium to assist calcium to help get it to your bones. This is too cheap of a supplement not to take! It can also help with constipation.

    Great vitamin.

I used to get cramps in my feet and my legs quite frequently. My calves and the arches of my feet would always lock right up when I’d do my wake up strech. Then I’d have to immediately stretch right out. My hamstrings would occasionally lock when sitting at my desk at work. My upper back would cramp up behind my should blades when performing bench presses. Everything cardiac and respiratory checks fine at the doctor’s office. I can run a half-marathon without a single cramp. So I figured something else is going on here.

I read a lot about cramps to find out why they are caused. They are caused by an imbalance in electrolytes (potassium, calcium, sodium, and magnesium). Everyone told me I should try eating a banana for the potassium. I did that and still cramped up.

The more I read about the cause of cramps, the more I found out that Western diets are deficient in Magnesium, though they are abundant in the other electrolytes. I also looked at a list of the foods highest in magnesium (bran, almonds, cashews, and more) and found that I don’t eat many of these foods that often. As a result, I started taking one of these tablets a day and the cramps have vanished within the first week. I can point my toes against no resistance without locking up. I can do the wake-up stretch while including pointing my toes. If I miss a day or two, I’ll usually be reminded by a hamstring cramp at some point during the day.

One of the things I also read is that the citrate version of any supplement (as this is) is best for absorption while other forms of supplements (ie oxides) don’t absorbed that well before they are passed through your system. As a result a citrate is your best bet for ensuring the amount of the supplement that is stated on the package is delivered to your body.

The true test for me will be at around lap 22 in the pool which seems to be my calf-cramping point, but I’ve yet to swim since I started taking the magnesium supplement, so I can’t yet comment.

Since none of these supplements are regulated by the FDA, I could very well be swallowing capsules filled with dust or drywall and the results may all be psychological. On the other hand, this could really be what they say it is and it is just exactly what I needed.

At any rate, the cramps are gone. These really work for me!

I use this three or four caps a day to help with fibromyalgia pain. It is important to never take magnesium with aluminum containg drugs. i.e. antacids. So, I take my prescriptions, and OTC drugs with breakfast, and take the magnesium all at once, with lunch or between lunch and supper. I have never mixed magnesium tablets or capsules with prescription drugs. This is the first bottle of magnesium that I have seen that say’s you can take between meals. However, I have not tried doing that. Magnesium Citrate is very easy to digest. Each capsule has 170 mg of Magnesium. Other ingredients are: Hydroxypropl methylcellulose, and magnesium stearate. The back of the bottle say’s: Magnesium in the citrate form. As a dietary supplement, 1 capsule one to three times daily between meals, or as directed by a healthcare practitioner. High doses of magnesium can have a laxative effect. Contraindicated with use of alumnum containing drugs. This nutrient is of the highest quality and purity obtainable, and does not contain preservatives, diluents, or artificial additives. Store in a cool, dry place, tightly capped.
