Visibly contaminated with black specks. Potassium chloride from Bulk Supplements does not have this problem.

Excellent taste for a salt replacement. I’m very happy with this product. Give it a try, get off the bad stuff.

I use this Now Foods: Potassium Chloride Powder Table Salt Substitute as part of my electrolyte mixture I make for my chickens. I’ve purchased this several times, and am very happy with the product. On a super hot day, which is often since I live in Florida, my electrolyte mixture helps my hens out! I can make the electrolyte mixture without this, but when I add this, it seems to work better.

Great quality and good supplement, I just can’t get over the godawful taste. No joke, it’s bad…so unless you got that “Mind Over Matter” mantra down, opt for pills instead. Sadly I bought 2 bottles (and return window closed) so I’m sticking it out, because the supplement significant reduced the nightly leg and feet cramps I experienced.

I follow a low-calorie ketogenic diet, which depletes potassium, and cannot eat many of the highest potassium foods due to either carbs or calories. My doctor recommends getting 4700mg potassium per day between food and supplementation. Potassium pills are limited to 99mg each, so you have to take a lot of them to get enough potassium, which is inconvenient and not very cost effective. 1/8 teaspoon of this product contains 365mg of potassium, 1 level teaspoon (which is how much I take per day) contains 2,920mg. I use a nutrition tracking app to make sure I’m not taking in too much potassium, which can affect the heart, but between food and the teaspoon of potassium chloride I’m usually around 5000mg which is well within the safe range for people with healthy kidneys. When starting to take potassium, it’s best to start with a small amount and gradually increase it to avoid stomach/intestinal upset.
Some people think this tastes enough like salt that they can use it as a salt substitute (this is the same stuff as in No-Salt). It has a crystalline texture much like table salt so it would work in a salt shaker. To me, it has a bitter taste on top of the saltiness, so it would spoil my food’s flavor to use it like salt, but I’m a “supertaster” and hypersensitive to bitter tastes. I need to take magnesium as well so I use lemon flavored Natural Calm and mix this into it to make it taste slightly better, but it still isn’t a particularly enjoyable beverage. I use chilled water to dull my taste buds and chug that glassful down as quickly as I can. Unlike some powdered potassium supplements, it does dissolve completely, yielding a clear liquid.
At a teaspoon a day (which IS rather a lot), the two 8-ounce bottles last me about three months.

I am a return customer to this product and I love that it’s not full of additives and it’s easy to take. Had it to water and chug away. I don’t seem to be bothered by the taste. I put it in like three or four ounces of water, and take it and get it over with.

This along with 4 other ingredients makes for a high powered type of Gatorade.

This economical product tastes just like table salt (it is chemically related), and it is especially useful for anyone reducing sodium in their diet. Strongly recommend. (It will slightly increase your potassium intake, so be sure to talk to your doctor about this.)
