You can tell this is a superior quality to other micellar casein by the lack of grittiness. The complaints about taste are ridiculous. This is an unflavored product so if you want flavor you obviously have to add something to it (like fruit)! That doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out. I use a blender and add banana for flavor and it mixes perfectly. Anyone that expects this to mix well with just a spoon and water doesn’t understand these types of products.
EDIT: Well…that’s it for me. The first time I bought this product, which was just a few months ago, it was $21.99, then it went up to $25.90 and now it’s $28.78. That’s nearly $16 per lb. I can get the PROMIX brand which looks just as good for under $10/lb with auto-delivery.

I’m not knocking the value of a good casein protein powder. It sure does its job. However, I have to say that the taste is just horrible, cringe-inducing. It’s not “unflavored” at all. I have another NOW unflavored powder that is, in fact, unflavored; however, this Micellar Casein is not that. I try to mask it by adding Stevia drops but mostly I’m avoiding using it.

Absolutely trustworthy! I’ve been using Now Sports’ supplements for 3 years now, and I can’t recommend their casein protein enough.
The best part? The price. It’s incredibly budget-friendly, making it accessible without compromising on quality. I’ve stuck with Now Sports for years, and their consistency and reliability never disappoint.
Now, about the taste – it’s neutral. Not everyone’s cup of tea in terms of flavor, but remember, this is all about functionality. If you’re after results, taste takes a back seat here.
What really seals the deal for me is their commitment to quality. They’re proudly certified under “GMP Quality Assured.” This means rigorous testing at every step, ensuring what you’re getting is top-notch.
In short, Now Sports’ casein protein is a mainstay in my fitness routine. With its cost-effectiveness, my positive history with their products, and that GMP certification, it’s a supplement I fully trust. Taste isn’t the highlight, but it’s effective – and that’s what matters. If you’re after reliability, Now Sports is the way to go.

I use the NOW brand unflavored whey isolate to bump my protein up around 90g/d and love a scoop of that with a little (like 1/2t) sugar in milk.
I got the NOW unflavored Micellar Casein on my PCP’s recommendation to help with sleep. Holy moly not the same as whey at all; it thickens much more than whey in milk and I wind up cutting in water and no amount of sugar improves what I think of as a kind of powdered milk flavor. I am not sure it’s helping with sleep as I’m just about halfway through the tub, but I will say that I am oddly hungry in the morning. Maybe it’s a little reflux drinking too close to bed? I dunno, but their whey is outstanding.

This stuff tastes seriously rotten. I taste tested next to another brand, and no I’m not sensitive. Literally smells like burning hair, and tastes horrible and spoiled.
Is it casein? Probably, technically! But unless you are sprinkling this in your garden or decorating clay sculptures with this crap I don’t recommend it!
Wish I didn’t buy this, there is no way to get a refund and it is probably not safe for consumption. Protein powders have gone up in price a LOT so this was tempting but I don’t recommend that you make the same mistake as I did. But you probably will and then will read this and be like man I am stupid! Now we can be friends.

Tastes like nothing and does the job.

This powder does exactly what it’s supposed to. It easily mixes in water or blends into a smoothy and has a neutral flavor. I noticed an increase in mass shortly after I starting using it. To say a scientifically pure health product has a bad taste is a little ridiculous in my opinion, you use it for the health benefits. If you want “designer” protein powder that taste like something you get at a high priced latte’ shop, this isn’t for you. Buy your chocolate chip cookie dough flavored garbage that contains aspartame and a bunch of other artificial garbage and enjoy the flavor. If you want real, pure scientific grade protein…..BUY THIS!!!!

Throw a fat scoop of this in a small chocolate milkshake and it tastes great and works well.
