Like others, I can confirm the taste of this product is god awful BUT you will not taste it in a smoothie! I drink 1 meal replacement protein shake a day and due to my dietary needs, I use all sorts of ingredients.
Today I used unsweetened vanilla coconut milk, unsweetened vanilla cashew milk yogurt, a scoop of unflavored collagen, a TBSP of white chia seeds, fresh strawberries and blueberries, a scoop of vanilla plant protein and a partial serving of this amino acid powder. I used a partial because I wanted to test the waters first to be sure it didn’t make the smoothie too bitter and I literally cannot taste it at all. So tomorrow will be closer to a full serving to retest the waters but I’m confident that it will only add a slightly bitter taste (if any at all).
As someone dealing with gut bacteria causing hypothyroid symptoms plus celiac, I am just happy something exists in the supplement market with NO ADDITIVES. Very happy with this product.

Preparing yourself for this product is really important. As many other reviewers have mentioned, the taste isn’t the best but that’s just how raw form aminos taste. So don’t come back and leave a negative review because you didn’t like the taste, it’s something you already knew before you bought it.
Secondly, it’s really hydrophobic (it doesn’t want to mix with water). I tried a couple of different things to get it to mix better, and the only thing I found works for complete absorption was mixing it and letting it sit overnight and drinking it in the morning.
I know everyone is going to try to find something palatable to make the taste more bearable. Some people who have a higher tolerance for really bitter flavors will have an easier time with it. I’m somewhere in the middle tolerance-wise, so what I found worked well for me was mixing in some pre-workout with it as well as my flavored collagen supplement that I take (which is also hydrophobic and needs time to absorb, so it’s a win-win). I mix all 3 together the night before. The pre-workout I take has mango flavor and my collagen supplement is pink lemonade. The flavor of the aminos is still there underneath, but it’s been way easier to take it that way for me. Some people have said use juice, but juice did absolutely nothing for me, so play around with what works the best for you. Other supplements with flavors in them seem to do a decent job of at least mitigating how bitter this is.
As for the benefits of the product itself, many of us aren’t getting all we need for aminos in our everyday diet, and they are crucial for a ton of important bodily functions. Just flippin’ take them and suck it up. You really need them.

So disgustingly inedible, its unbelievable. I have tried mixing it in to so many different things. But it seems to actually change my taste buds. The first sip, hey i think i can handle this. Second sip, yeah ok, its pretty bad. Third sip, oh this really is horrible…. Seventh sip, why am i still alive? Do i even have a tongue anymore? Maybe if i just take a nice swallow of clean fresh water to cleanse the palate it will… oh no!
Why does everything else taste terrible now too? All the world has lost color and there is no hope left.
For those reviewers who claim to be able to swallow this stuff, i am betting the majority of the dose had settled to the bottom. What they saw floating on the top was the most palatable of the particles. Give that baby a good shake and then tell me how easy it is to drink.

My main issue with this item is two fold. First it tastes kind of bad. I wish they tried to mask it with something sweet. Two, I get a headache from taking it. I don’t know if it’s just me. It’s too bad because it’s hard to find a complete essential amino acid powder on the market that’s both reasonably priced and not loaded with unwanted artificial sweeteners.

Mixed alone in water it tastes awful as expected. I add a scoop of electrolyte powder and it goes down easy. I won’t know of their effectiveness until I get lab work done but I’m hoping to see an improvement in my serum protein

I’m a little different than most for this, because I take amino acids as I’m missing my colon and have an ileostomy bag. My food goes through fast and I was starting to have things that were pointing to a nutritional deficiency, along with flat out already being in pretty poor health for a bunch of reasons. Anyway, we decided to give amino acids a try, seeing that if I couldn’t break down the protein I ate in time, maybe I wasn’t getting my essential amino acids.
First, this stuff is rancid gross tasting. Totally vile. Like licking pennies dipped in dust and sprinkled with bleach. My routine is a heaping tablespoon into about 8oz of juice like a string cherry/cranberry/grape juice and then adding a good heart squeeze of Mio drops or the like. It still will taste soured and sorta gross, but it’s no longer undrinkable.
For me, the results are so worth it. I stopped losing mass from my legs, the daily headaches stopped, I no longer was constantly freezing. My blood work started to improve, and I started having more and more energy to function. I started feeling good, enough to actually start doing more activity. My doctor and I are very, very pleased.
This particular brand is the highest listed dose of any amino acid supplement with no “extras” that I can find. Most don’t label the amounts, or they add caffiene. I’ve run out before for a week, and the cruddy feelings – cold, tired and headachy) started coming back. I felt better within a couple days after starting back on it. I fo through about 1 bottle per month.
I really think that folks with altered guts should talk with their doctor about trying this, especially if they have constant tiredness, chills and headaches. My doctor and I are very pleased with the results I’ve had.
