I like that the product arrived right away. I haven’t used it long enough to know how well it work so will keep you posted.
I will say that I experience bloating and gas which is a side effect, but hasn’t been a huge problem.

I liked it for a long while and was recommended as a natural supplement to reduce cholesterol and my numbers did go down but after a while it gave me colon problems and I can not continue to take.
However, I must say that people vary and they also change from time to time, so what was not good for me might not bother you. Do your research. These vitamins are processed in US and the company is one of the better around for standards.

Product arrived May 24th. It is now July 28th. I intended to order with COQ10 but made a mistake. No problem since we have some COQ10. The error did leave me more attentive to the bottle. I did have a few left of the previous order with the COQ10. I’ve taken this product for years but last year I cut back to only one capsule per day. That said, this bottle should have lasted at least until the later part of August. I noticed last night there were only 9 capsules left. Being a little OC and a doctor I have a very strict procedure on any medication or supplements that I take. Not anyone else here that could have taken them. Evidence is pretty strong there were not 120 capsules in the bottle.

I am taking this in combination with cq10 and bergamot. Will need a blood test to know if it has worked. I do select NOW products because I know they’re a trust worthy company.

Given the laundry list of side effects and contraindications of Lipitor and other statin drugs, my doctor recommended Red Yeast Rice, and I’ve had no side effects or other health problems. I like this particular brand, which comes in vegetarian (non-gelatin) capsules, and is flavourless and easy to swallow. As well as being well-priced. Recommended!

My doctor told me that I had high cholesterol. My HDL-C and triglycerides were fine but LDL-C and non-hdl-c were high, making my total cholesterol high (246). I do not like taking prescription medications and prefer trying a supplement first. He understands this and recommended I try red yeast rice before jumping to a prescribed statin medication. I’ve been using this red yeast rice for 4 months and just got retested. The nurse just phoned and told me that my cholesterol has a marked improvement! I didn’t ask what the number was but will update once I get that. I was just so pleased that this actually worked!
Both of my parents have high cholesterol and the dr indicated that the kind of high chol. I have is usually inherited and responds well to red yeast rice. I read in some of the reviews that its suggested to take ubiquinol or coq10 so I also take that (the now brand of ubiquinol). I take magnesium at night.
I do work out often and try to watch what I eat but none of that changed since March so I have to contribute the improvement to this supplement.

Went from scary 299 cholesterol 1.5 years ago to having completely normal readings – and never took medication. This does not mean some people don’t need medication. Everyone is different. Be aware that this is a natural statin before you use. I used B3 for a year with great results, but it couldn’t get the bad cholesterol down to safe numbers, so took two of these a day for four months and it brought the bad numbers down into a good healthy range. From what I understand, the flushing niacin is better for getting good numbers up (do your own research here). I also take Bergamet, garlic, and fish oil and exercise five times a week (and eat a super-healthy diet). That said, I am happy to spend money on natural products to stay of pharmaceuticals. I had to shop for a doctor who could get on board with my desire for a natural self-treatment and I get tested quarterly. I highly recommend getting blood tests and having some practitioner to guide you. It’s unfortunate that the exact amounts of the active ingredient are not available. This is because of interference from pharmaceutical companies and the FDA. This has been used by TCM forever…

I have high cholesterol, and many years ago, a health store clerk turned me on to red yeast rice. I wanted to avoid going on Lipitor or something similar. I started with 230 cholesterol, and then after about 8 months of taking 2 capsules per day, I was down to about 150.
For several years I have been taking 1 per day, as I found that good quality red yeast rice (such as NOW brand) do indeed have some of the same active ingredients as Lipitor, and I wanted to avoid any possible side effects. I haven’t had any side effects, but I’m just giving this review to advise others to not overdose on red yeast rice thinking that you are safe because it is a health food. It is, but take wisely. 2 is totally safe, I’m sure, I’m just overly cautious.
