This supplement named, “Clinical Heart Healthy Probiotic” by NOW supplements is designed to help keep your cholesterol levels in a healthy range. NOW suggests taking one or two capsules daily, and to refrigerate to maintain potency.
The strain of Probiotic NOW supplements is using in these capsules is called Lactobacillus Reuteri or LRC or short. This strain has been clinically studied and validated as a heart healthy probiotic. Knowing the very high quality of all NOW supplements I own and use, I expect this heart healthy probiotic to give me real working results.
This supplement is dairy free, gluten free and vegan/vegetarian safe, as well as being non GMO, and soy free. This supplement also is packaged with extremely care to be tamper proof, and to maintain freshness.

I am a little skeptical about supplement claims and would encourage you to do your own research and speak with your medical team before taking any supplements. That being said, I do trust the NOW brand and have used several of their products. I’ve been taking probiotics off and on for my gut and, as someone with a minor heart issue, I was intrigued to see this product.
The capsules are not huge and they’re easy to take with meals (it’s recommended to take this twice per day with your two biggest meals). I’ll be curious to see if they make any difference on my upcoming bloodwork, as that’s the only way to know if they’re doing what they claim — in combination with proper nutrition and exercise, of course.
Note that these should be refrigerated after opening. Not a huge deal, but something to consider if you plan to travel with them. The cap is also less-than-great, so make sure it’s out of the reach of children. My 3-year-old daughter could easily open it if it was laying out.

It’s awfully hard to evaluate a dietary supplement on its effectiveness. And in this case, I can’t really do so. I don’t know if the lactobacillus reuteri actually have a beneficial effect on my cardiovascular health, but I’m willing to give that a try. My guess is that I won’t know until my next doctor’s appointment. So, I’ll break down what I like, and what I don’t like.
What I like:
These are made in the USA. Maybe that doesn’t matters, but I have a policy that I won’t take any medications made in China. Just too many stories of lax safety standards, and I’m not interested.
There is a clear allergy statement on the side. Our family has food allergies, so this matters quite bit to us.
The capsules have no weird odor – which some can have.
They have no added sugar. That’s beneficial for me, because the probiotics I have been taking have been in gummy format, and that’s like 99% sugar.
What I don’t like:
Honestly, not much. I found them a little difficult to swallow, because they float. So when you take a drink of water, they float up to the top of your mouth. I had to look down, so they floated to the back of my throat, but that’s pretty minimal.
AtoZ –
I can’t say how sure I am about what effects a probiotic targeted for heart health should feel like vs regular probiotics, but so far I at least haven’t had any noticeable ill effects to taking these.
The capsules themselves are well sized and easy to swallow, so there is not issue there. With one capsule taken twice daily this works out to a 30 day supply, so not really on the cheap side but not offensively expensive either for probiotics.
The particular one I got had an issue with the bottle itself in that the cap popped open far too easily. This could be just an issue unique to mine, but even then doesn’t really affect the capsules themselves as it stays closed well enough between uses to keep the product safe.
They come with the usual probiotic caveat of needing to keep them refrigerated, so that is something to be aware of. Overall though they seem ok so far.

These are fairly easy to swallow and are pretty light on the stomach. They need to be kept refrigerated which is pretty normal for most brands but not all of them so if you aren’t used to doing so just make sure to with these.
We’ve been happy with them. As with any probiotic you don’t ever really know if it’s doing anything but Now is a pretty well known brand so that helps us a lot when considering which brand to select from.
Overall they are definitely worth a try.

I been buying and using a variety of NOW brand products for at least a decade for our family and have never had a bad experience or concern. This new heart health probiotic seems to do the job of most probiotics I’ve taken. The capsule size is normal and easy to swallow. There is not any sort of smell or aftertaste to the product – all good there. This also has a researched and proven strain that it uses so even if I know for certain how it helps the heart as it claims, its a good overall healthy probiotic to take. The bottle has clear directions, ingredients, and info, and as with most all probiotics, these are best stored in the fridge. I would get this again, the price is about average for a good, trusted daily probiotic supplement.
