   NewRhythm Magnesium Glycinate, 80mg Elemental

   I weighed three capsules, and the quantity was correct for the amount of elemental magnesium claimed, with a small adjustment for lubricants and fillers. I am pleased to see that NewRhythm lists their magnesium content in terms of elemental magnesium. The total amount of magnesium glycinate would be nice also, since most other companies list quantities as the glycinate salt, and comparison of ingredients for cost would be easier if the consumer desires. (For conversion, magnesium glycinate is 14 percent elemental magnesium).
   I did not find any broken or open capsules.
   There was a small amount of extraneous powder present, probably lubricant, and I would prefer it were removed.
   The company claims to be manufactured using GMP and third party analysis.
   All addresses are USA, and the webpage does have a customer service page.
   Presentation is excellent. Quality and application of the packing is above average.
   From my experience, I will take NewRhythm magnesium glycinate secure that the quality and purity are good.

   For those who are interested, here are the methods I use to review vitamins.
   During my reviews, I have insisted on using only supplements that follow the guidelines of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and use third party analysis for purity. I also preferred products manufactured in the USA.
   After hours of study, I have concluded that my research has not been complete.
   Using products manufactured in the USA does not offer protection for quality unless high quality ingredients are used. I find manufactured in the USA “from foreign source ingredients” is not a reliable guide to quality.
   On the other hand I have found that vitamins produced in many countries are more closely regulated than the US. For example, the United Kingdom, European Union, and Norway (for my fish oil), all have more stringent controls for manufacturing and purity than the US. Research continues for this particular consideration. If I find that the company does business in those countries, I count it as a positive.
   I also found that having the GMP stamp on the label is not a good guarantee. Anyone who wants to can put that stamp on their product, even if not true, and nothing will be done unless there are consumer complaints. (Source FDA).
   A label of “third party analyzed” can also be misleading for the same reason as the GMP stamp.
   I retired from a career in pharmacy after 30 years, and I use my experience, for what it is worth, to judge the quality of the vitamins I order.
   I will look first for accuracy in labeling. Are stated ingredients accurate when compared to the actual ingredient weight for example.
   I will look at the apparent quality of manufacture of the capsules or tablets I get, and try to determine country of origin.
   I will try to assure that dosages stated on labels is correct. I want the capsules to be full, with no leaks, and unbroken. Who knows how much is in each capsule if they are not compounded to be full?
   I want tablets to be properly molded without sharp or broken edges.
   I do not want a great deal of extraneous powder in the bottle containing capsules or tablets.
   Softgels must be full and unbroken, without extraneous oil in the bottle.
   Anything I notice at the time can influence my opinion. For example, is there good consumer contact information. I check for a good webpage.

   Some guy with a white coat has me taking magnesium. The last ones I had were a higher dose. These can be for kids and include the lower dose, so I take three. That’s a pretty big pill for taking three, but I manage it ok so you probably can, too.

   They don’t have a weird taste or smell, they don’t stick in the throat, and hey, I’m still here and able to type a review and they don’t seem to have caused any problems. I haven’t noticed any changes since switching brands, but I’m not really sure I’ve noticed any difference at all since taking any, besides a slightly increased fluid consumption from swallowing them all. They say drink a lot of fluids, so there ya go. If anything, these will increase your fluid consumption and possibly make a guy in a white coat happy.

   This has two seals to make us feel super safe that what is outside didn’t get in. They also say this is formulated and distributed in the US, and on another spot it has the Made in the USA symbol. I don’t exactly trust my neighbor is safe, but like I said, I’m still here and feel alrighty. That’s about the best claim I’ve got for ya. Four stars is my ‘still around’ rating. Now go outside and stop worrying so much.

   First off, I’m happy to say I was easily able to find information of the company provided on the label and have found they have a variety of supplements on the market and NewRhythm is a company out of New York, so a USA branded company to go with the proud claims of being made in the USA in a FDA inspected, GMP Compliant Facility. This gives me confidence in this product right away. Secondly, the quality control of the product is good. It came wrapped nice and tight with a security seal over the child proof cap, and another tamper proof seal inside that was rather “fun” to peel off. At least I know for a fact the bottle was secure and the pills inside were not manipulated in any way since being bottled and shipped to me.

   Serving suggestions on this bottle for a grown adult seem to be 3 pills for a total of 240mg of magnesium glycinate; the suggestion of 1 pill for children at 80mg is where I started as don’t take Magnesium Glycinate very often and wanted to take baby steps to see what it would do for me. Magnesium glycinate is typically used for many things such as help with heart burn, indigestion, constipation, and magnesium is used in individuals with blood pressure issues, diabetes prevention and bone health. Magnesium is also good for relieving headaches especially migraines and being that I have some of these issues myself, I figured I’d give it a try.

   I’ve been taking this product for a short period of time, without noticing much difference as of yet, I have an expectation based on research I’ve been doing that states it can help lower blood pressure, control blood sugar and may help to relieve stress/anxiety as well as help get better sleep. I have a stressful job and don’t have a normal sleep routine as most do, so a supplement that can help me relax and sleep better is always welcomed and worth a try. I can say I have been sleeping easier, even if for short periods at a time, but it is better than not noticing anything at all I suppose.

   The actual pill looks like a veggie cap and the powder inside is a light yellowish white color, very easy to swallow and not uncomfortable, no bad after taste, and so far no side effects. If the suggested research is true, this product may assist me with some of my issues and this would be great and I look forward to long term use. Just on the fact alone that I have been getting slightly better sleep I will recommend this product. I may have to increase to the max suggested dosage to take full advantage, but slow and steady wins the race and I will continue at the lower serving size for now until I feel the need up the serving. NewRhythm’s quality of product and information provided make me feel more confident in taking their product knowing they test the product before releasing to their customers.
