So I’m a fan of Sambucus and all this cough syrup has to offer.
I am not a kid, but I use childrens liquid cold meds periodically.
I had a tickle/cough the other day that wasn’t fully going away and immediately thought it was a good time to try this cough syrup.
I gave it a good shake and I noticed after removing the seal the smell of Apple Cider Vinegar is very prevalent.
That didn’t deter me though.
I poured out a dosage into the cup and down the hatch!
Woo!
I made a cringe worthy face as I tried to figure out what in the world this tastes like. I’ve drank ACV and honey added to teas and stuff before, but this wasn’t quite the same.
The closest I can come to describing what it tastes like to me is pickled beets.
Yup, I typed that right.
I like pickled beets, by the way, just wasn’t expecting that flavor out of the bottle lol.
Oh, and it actually did help quell my cough.

I got this for the kiddo to have on hand, because you never know when you’re going to need this sort of thing.
Pros:
– The base is honey rather than sugar or corn syrup.
– It has a relatively large amount of elderberry per serving, and the elderberry is a more potent extract.
– Good amounts of Vitamin C and Zinc for added immune support.
– It’s a straightforward functional recipe, with no weird ingredients
– Flavor is very good, and popular with the kid.
Cons:
– Kind of a small bottle. If the kid gets seriously sick this will be gone in under a week.

I got the Nature’s Way Sambucus Honeyberry Cough Syrup for my toddler son. He is not currently sick but I like to have things ready for when he is. I like to try things before he does, so I tasted the cough syrup and it has a really nice taste. I don’t think that he would mind drinking it at all, and he would probably ask for more! There are so many things that I like about this product, including the all natural ingredients. It is vegetarian and gluten free. For those with allergies, it contains no gluten, dairy products, soy, peanuts, or artificial colors. I cannot vouch for the effectiveness of the syrup yet as luckily no one in the family has a cough. Overall, very happy with it so far.

I don’t have to beg my kids to take this so that’s a big plus.
I like that the ingredients are organic and natural. Altho I don’t know what “organic natural flavors” are because typically natural flavors are created in a lab and are not natural.
But still beats the other big name brand medicines that have dyes and added junk. So I’m happy with this. Seems to help just as well at the other stuff, too.

I know that this says it’s “Cough Syrup for kids” but in my family we all use the same stuff until it’s gone since we usually get sick at different times. Sanitizing and washing the cough syrup cup each use of course. I like the ingredients in this particular one since I’m unfamiliar with those in the regular stuff. Including things like organic sambucus elderberry extract, Organic honey, Organic Apple Cider Vinegar, Vitamin C, zinc, and English Ivy Leaf extract. It does taste nice yet still functions as a medicine to relieve irritation caused by dryness, soreness, etc. Definitely a nice product that I’d recommend. 🙂
