I’ve been buying Muscle Milk Light Chocolate for years from Costco for my protein source. I have health issues that require me to have a certain amount of protein daily and a lot of meats make me ill (not a vegetarian – health issues). Costco discontinued so I turned to my trusted friend AMAZON! Also, the name has changed to Muscle Milk “Zero” now. Marketing trends. This product is best because it’s lactose free and doesn’t cause me bloating and gas problems that other proteins do. It tastes fine to me. There is always some weird flavor in a low calorie zero product, especially a protein. But this is the least offensive I tasted. And, I’ve tried a lot! My husband doesn’t like this product as he prefers a much thicker shake like Premier Protein and and something that has a higher protein content for him and his workouts. But this is perfect to me (I can’t stand his, shudder). Now the only drawback and reason for a lower star is that they changed from a paper container to hard plastic. I don’t like waste. Also, the metal foil liner under the screw on lid is almost impossible to remove, seriously!!! I think if you’re into straws it might be good to invest in stainless steel washable straws and pop one of those right down through the foil instead. Don’t know if it’d work but my mind is going there every time I try to get those things off. I just wanna grab and go. No fuss. Hope you like. Be strong 🙂

I appreciate how easy these are for busy mornings. I struggled for awhile to consistently eat breakfast, and this makes it super easy! The taste is great and I love that this is a lower calorie way to get some protein early in my day after exercising. Have never had an issue with leakage or any type of package damage

Has a great taste. Great amount of protein. A little expensive.

I’ve been drinking chocolate flavored Muscle Milk Zero at breakfast for years, mixed with a packet of Starbucks Via coffee. One reviewer has complained about the shakes in the new bottles being thinner than before. I don’t notice any difference. The bottle is larger, but it still contains 11.16 ounces (not 16 ounces) of shake. They didn’t add water; they added space at the top. The old Tetrapak bottles could be tricky to open without spilling; adding space eliminates the need to lick your fingers to get all the liquid. The main reason the new bottles take up more space is that they’re round instead of square.
The packaging redesign has its pluses and minuses. The old bottles were convenient, but at least 1 bottle per 4-pack leaked at the seams. They were recyclable like milk cartons, but they looked like trash, they weren’t recyclable at curbside in many (most?) areas, and I bet most of them went to the landfill.
The new bottles are designed like Special K protein shakes: twist cap protected by outer film. The perforations are better defined and more widely spaced perforations than on Special K bottles, making it easier to tear the outer plastic film off the top. The old bottle caps could be a hard to twist off, too. In California, Oregon, or Maine, you can get bottle refunds (Hawaii isn’t listed yet), or you can recycle them at curbside with other plastic bottles.
Having removed the outer film, though, you’re in for a nasty surprise. The nonrecyclable foil seal inside is hard to remove on a morning head. Strong fingers are required and if they’re the least bit slippery, you’d better have needle-nosed pliers handy to peel it off. You could cut the foil with a knife, but before recycling the bottle, you should remove the metallic plastic film from the rim. That can turn into a whittling project. Special K shakes have had the same design but without the inner seal for years. Maybe the seal increases shelf life. The seams on the old bottles were weak, so shelf life may have been an issue. But switching to screw neck bottles should have solved that problem. I doubt that the inner seal does much. I hope they get rid of it or switch to an adhesive that makes it easier to remove.

High protein content. Sealed really well.

Although I usually drink the ones with higher protein amounts this one tastes a bit better as the flavor is less intense however still great compared to the other MM zero shakes.

These actually taste better than the regular ones which was surprising. I don’t get any odd after taste just a really nice smooth chocolate. I have tried all the shakes, Atkins and Fairlife are currently in my fridge. Fairlife has an odd sour taste from monkfruit. Not sure what’s up with the comments about opening the bottle I had no issues at all, didn’t even notice it. Mayonnaise bottles are a nightmare though.

The flavor is great, the lower cal great. The problem it went from $23 last month to $49. What a joke. Will never order unless goes back to the 23
