After I received two one-pound packages of the 7 Mushrooms Blend, I realized that the product description on the package gives me zero info on the relative amounts of the individual ingredients–nothing about proportions, percentages, or number of milligrams of each ingredient in a 7 gram serving. So I don’t know exactly what I’m getting in a serving. (I do know that there are not equal amounts of each ingredient. The company told me that much.) For example, there could be 2 grams (or more) of lion’s mane in one serving, or there could be 1 gram. To anyone serious about health, nutraceuticals generally, and mushroom blends specifically, these things matter. Sometimes they matter a lot: this product contains maltodextrin (a filler that some companies describe as necessary to prevent clumping), which has a very high glycemic index. Because of illnesses, I need to be very careful about glycemic loads. But it’s impossible for me to know how much maltodextrin I’m getting when I consume this blend because Z Natural Foods doesn’t provide that info on the package, nor would they provide me with that info when I emailed them saying I really needed that info for medical reasons, safety reasons. “That is proprietary information which we are unable to provide.” A cynical cop-out, in my opinion. Also, there is nowhere on the package any info about growth mediums, presence or absence of mycelial biomass, and what amounts of fruit bodies go into the mix. For anyone–except a beginner–interested in mushrooms, these are considered basic, essential questions. The answers to these questions may help a potential customer make at least a rough guess as to the quality of the product. The best mushroom providers I know of are forthcoming and transparent in providing answers to these questions, because these providers have nothing to hide. Also, on the 7 Mushrooms package, some lavish health claims are made, but there is nowhere on the package the typical, nearly ubiquitous disclaimer, “These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration.” Why no disclaimer? (I suspect that this actually brakes the law.) Also, there is no indication on the package indicating whether the ingredients are cooked or raw–an important consideration in the opinions of the mushroom experts I’m familiar with. Also, the package says the product is “formulated and blended” in Florida. What does “formulated” mean, exactly? Please speak to me in simple, unambiguous English. Where are the mushrooms grown?? That’s important to me, but I have no clue as to the points of origin of the mushrooms. And I thought that that information, too, was required by law. Were any of the mushrooms grown in China? (To be fair and clear, I didn’t inquire about these points of origin, because I was already disgusted by Z Natural’s stonewalling regarding the amounts of each ingredient.) In my estimation Z Natural Foods gets an F for transparency, integrity, and user friendliness. The package is pretty, the line-up of mushrooms is impressive–which is what seduced me– but the evasiveness, the pervasive vagueness and lack of important information, and the suspect/illegitimate practices I’ve just mentioned have caused me to totally lose respect for, and trust in, this company.

I have tried many a mushroom suppliment and know the awesome healthy benefits.
By far this is the best tasting and potent health benefits from the 7 mushroom combination! I’m a cancer Survivor and know that my health has benefitted from using the attributes of the mushroom extracts. I feel great and all my healthy bloodwork proves it. There is no strong odor or taste if anything when I add it to my morning coffee there is a slight chocolate type flavor which is nice. Another plus is that it is American grown and manufacturered!!! The packaging is well designed to keep the contents fresh. Excellent Product. Great company that does what it claims!!!

I wish it was fruiting bodies only, but you get what you pay for. This was very expensive IMO but a good blend of mushrooms. It was still one of the most cost effective mushroom blends that was USDA organic that I could find.

I put this in my coffee every morning. I was using the Ryze, but it didn’t taste that great. This one doesn’t change the flavor of my coffee so I get my daily dose.
