Ordered this for summer pool days. Haven’t had a chance to use on sun soaked skin yet, but I did try it out and has a nice cucumber and mild mint smell. The spray is a fine mist that gives good coverage. It leaves the skin damp at first, but dries and doesn’t leave your skin sticky or tacky. It does provide some cooling effect, but I imagine it would feel better after a day at the pool or beach.

Even though it’s not the right time of year for a sunburn, I ordered this Project Reef Aloe Cooling Mist to cool down after exercise or a bath.
I really love the formulation and the fact that there is nothing in it that will harm the environment or humans. It contains aloe and glycerin for moisturizing, peppermint oil for a refreshing and cooling effect and cucumber, which is soothing to the skin. It also has lemon extract which has antioxidant, antibacterial properties, but can be irritating to sensitive skin, so if you have sensitive skin you might want to do a patch test before using.
I used it after taking a very hot bath and it was simply delightful. The smell is clean, mostly peppermint with some citrus in the background. It is being kept in the refrigerator so that the cooling effect will be heightened even more..
The spray is a non-aerosol with a very good quality atomizer, so it makes a fine mist. After just a few spritzes my skin looked and felt well hydrated and some of the redness from my rosacea calmed down. It’s a simple formula that works.
I even like that it did not come in a box (wasteful), and instead showed up in an aluminum can (recyclable) with the top sealed in plastic. Another reminder of how clean and green this company is by only using enough plastic to seal the top.
My only confusion is that in the listing it mentions shea butter and lavender as being part of the formulation, but there are very few ingredients in this mist, and neither of those are in it. It matters not since I find that the formula is plenty enough hydrating. When I ordered this mist it was selling for $24 and considering that it has mostly organic ingredients and nothing bad in it, I think that it is a great deal.

Bought these for a friend for her birthday. She loves the ocean (who doesn’t) and she has a lot of young grandchildren (all girls) sure to be impressed by these earth-friendly products.
Here’s the catch. Extremely expensive for sunscreen and lip balm, and for the price they should have at least have come in some nice packaging. I bought sunscreen, lip balm, and after sunlotion. One of them came with a cheaply made little linen bag with a thin jute drawstring that one product plus the lip balm would fit in. I have to say I really was disappointed in the presentation and the size of the products I received for the amount charged by Reef. This is a product line for fools or those who have money to burn. You don’t get much for your money, except eco-hype and a momentary pseudo-feeling that you might be doing some miniscule something to help the environment.

This is a very nice spray. It didn’t cause any adverse reaction w/ my very sensitive skin. We’re not in peak summer, but I definitely think this would help in soothing any sunburn. I used it after getting some sun and it feels so cool and refreshing. It has all the right ingredients. I like that I can still use it, even as the weather cools. I’ve used it after a few workouts. ALSO! I’m in early menopause and have started getting hot flashes, and I’ve spritzed this on, very nice! I love the brand ethos and that it’s not an aerosol can. It’s a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for, and this is really a quality product. Would be great to bring along on a vacation.

I was excited to try this cooling mist, especially since it’s supposed to be great for after-sun care and hydration. Unfortunately, it wasn’t a win for me, and I think it comes down to personal preference. I realized after ordering that I’m not a fan of cucumber in fragrances, and that scent was pretty strong (at least for me) in this product. The smell just wasn’t for me, and it made it hard to appreciate any of the other benefits.
In terms of texture, I found it a bit sticky after applying it to my skin. It could have been the combination of the scent and the feel, but I couldn’t fully enjoy the experience. It’s a shame, because I was really looking forward to the soothing effects, especially with ingredients like aloe vera and peppermint, which usually work well for me.
If you enjoy cucumber in your skincare products, this might be perfect for you. A tip: for an extra cooling effect, try keeping it in the fridge before use. It might just enhance that refreshing feeling on hot days or after sun exposure. Unfortunately, for me, the scent was too overpowering to appreciate the product’s benefits.
