Not pleased with the product it’s very watery when mixed, chalky taste, and not a very rich taste at all. Much prefer Truvani in terms of Rich flavor, and a thickness of the mixture that’s more filling. I’m assuming the nutritional value is good but if I could return it, I would but I can’t so I’ll finish it up at some point.

I would describe taste like unsweetened, waterg soy milk. Would recommend if you’re a fan of the taste of tofu, soymilk, edamames or what a very clean tasting, plant-based protein powderp

Looking for a vegan protein that isn’t rice, soy or pea, Decided to try this. It doesn’t mix well at all. Very grainy and no real flavor.

Mikuna All-Natural Protein Powder has quickly become a daily must-have for me. It tastes great and mixes easily, which is perfect for my post-workout shakes or quick meals. I love how versatile it is—I use it in everything from smoothies to baking. Plus, Mikuna’s focus on sustainability makes me feel good about using it. Since I started using Mikuna, I’ve noticed better recovery and muscle growth, and I can’t imagine my routine without it.

I’ve tried many vegan and whey-based proteins over the years, and by far Mikuna’s chocho protein has been the most effective!
Vegan protein powders are usually pea based, that can easily cause bloating, gas, and very soft stool.
Whey based proteins are not as easily digestible and tend to be too watery or have other unnecessary ingredients to create the right texture.
Although chocho has a grainy texture, it downer have any side effects like peas. It’s not ideal for just mixing with water, as it does settle and you need to keep mixing it while drinking. But it’s an amazing addition to a morning cereal with chia seeds, flax and hemp seeds. It packs a large amount of protein and holds me over for many hours.
The Mikuna chocho has become part of my morning routine! Love this product. Wish they have better distribution and availability.

This lupin bean powder has completely transformed my smoothie game.
Forget chalky protein powders. I was worried a bean-based powder might overpower the other ingredients, but Mikuna’s chocho blends seamlessly. My go-to smoothie is banana, chocolate, and soymilk, and chocho adds a subtle nutty depth that complements the flavors perfectly.
The low glycemic index of Mikuna is a major plus. Unlike sugary protein powders that cause a crash later, Mikuna provides sustained energy that keeps me going without the jitters.
Overall, Mikuna’s chocho is a fantastic addition to my smoothie routine. It’s nutritious, delicious, and versatile. Highly recommend!

Look, I don’t write reviews but I’m writing this one bc I want this company to stay in business. I have a dairy protein allergy and cannot digest pea protein without major GI distress. I found Mikuna and was so shocked that I could stomach the powder with only a little bit of gas (probably my microbiome getting used to the high fiber). I’ve tried so many non-dairy and vegan protein powders and my body rejected them all. Am I vegan? Nope. But sometimes I don’t want to eat a steak for breakfast and need quick protein, ya know?
Y’all, this protein powder is made with simple ingredients that you can read. If you’re not aware, the process of treating the lupin seed to be consumed is a long and lengthy process and cultures from Italy and Peru have perfected these processes and have eaten lupin seeds for millennia – how do I know? I became curious and looked it up because I wanted to make my own lupin seeds at home but man, I just don’t have the time for that lengthy process – so I buy this stuff instead. Can we say that Mikuna is better for you than the chemically isolated vegan protein powders filled with chemical residues? I’m gonna say it’s a safe bet that it is, yes. It also has a nutrition profile that I’ve never seen in a protein powder without lots of extra BS ingredients. Y’all did you read the nutrition info? Mikuna has 9grams of fiber per serving?! 20grams of vegan protein – which is not as bioavailable as animal protein but come on, that’s a lot of protein for a vegan powder. It has fat! Yes, that’s a positive. I want that 8grams of fat to help me slow down the digestion of the proteins that actually moderately spike my blood sugar – and the types of fat that it contains are fairly balanced. And have yall seen the nutrient profile? Zinc 20%, iron 15%, magnesium 10%, and calcium 8% of one’s daily values in one serving? Even if all of these nutrients are not as bioavailabile due to it not being from animal sources, this is an amazing profile of micronutrients.
And if you’re wondering about the lead warning on the package – I thought the lead was coming from the barrels used during the treatment process but if you looked on Mikuna’s webpage it clearly says the warning is there because the vanilla and cocoa powder have **naturally occurring heavy metals**. Look, at this point most cocoa/chocolate products and naturally sourced vanilla products that you’re eating have varying levels of heavy metals that the bean picks up from the soils that have heavy metals in the soil that was present naturally even before humans contaminated the soils. How do I know this? Bc I’m a research scientist by training and looked it up. But don’t trust me, please look it up yourself. Anyway, the company says they list the warning of heavy metal contamination on their packaging to make sure they are in compliance with Cali state laws and also, bc they want you to know. But I bet you’re probably getting more heavy metals from the air you breath sitting in traffic and the other food you eat than the his product. If you really want to be safe, just buy Mikuna’s unflavored protein powder and add flavor and whatever else you need to make it palatable.
Speaking of palatability – I personally have found this powder to dissolve fairly well in water, even without a special shaker bottle with metal wire ball. I actually have ziplock bags of the protein powder in my purse and have mixed the powder into water and a coffee stir stick very easily in a cup. Compared to a lot of other vegan protein powders that I’ve used this one def dissolves the easiest. Texture? It’s a vegan protein powder, of course it’s grainy, what the heck do you expect, magic? Come on people, this is not whey powder, this is a seed powder that’s been finely ground. While drinking it I need to give the product a little shake to keep the heavier grounds to mix in the water. Whatever, I don’t mind doing this, sometimes even needing to add a little more water. Whatever. And the taste? It tastes great. I even mix the plain protein powder with the vanilla to cut the sugar and taste of the monk fruit in the vanilla – and add a little more salt and cinnamon. Tastes fine to me.
Lastly, I feel good about purchasing this product bc I know this is a regenerative crop. Is pea protein? lol, nope. I also know that this is helping the local communities who grow and process the lupin seeds. We need more regenerative foods that help local communities in other non-USA countries.
Hot tip- If you take this product and it gives you massive gi distress maybe try looking into your microbiome and test yourself for SIBO – also look into a low FODMAP short term diet – bc this stuff has a lot of fiber after all! You might also just be sensitive to lupins.
I do not work for this company nor is this a paid review, I’m just a person who needed a quality product and this is one of the few that gets the job done. And I just spent 40 min of my life writing this review in hopes that it keeps this company in business bc it’s the only protein powder that works for me: I’d be so heartbroken if it ceased to exist.
