I purchased these enzymes last Spring – with a very sceptical attitude. I had been suffering from arthritis pain in my left knee and right shoulder (old injuries). The pain went away after a few months of changing my diet and about two weeks after starting enzymes. Honestly, at the time I thought it was my dietary changes that did it. (I quit dairy) I stopped taking enzymes after about a month or so. However… I recently my arthritis in my knees resumed and I still had about half of a bottle of enzymes left. I began taking four per day first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. I KID YOU NOT EVERYONE, within five days my pain subsided by 80% at least. Now two weeks later I’m probably at 90% relief depending on how much manual labor I’m engaging in. In other words, I think the enzymes are what helped last year, all along AND these things have really helped now. I refuse to take pharmaceuticals. I’m 52 and starting to slow down but I will try dietary changes and natural supplements before traditional medicines. Some are total bunk, but these really worked for me. I wanted to help get the word out. If you’re suffering from some arthritis or rheumatic issues, please give these a try before running to big pharma.

I don’t think it’s because there’s something magical about the enzymes in Michaels’ formula; I think the key is that they are enteric coated – which as a science guy I find weird because I thought you’d want an enzyme that is instantly dissolved the second it hits your stomach.

Anyhow, if I eat a meal with a reasonable amount of fat in it, I generally have to take 3-5 of these, immediately after I finish eating. Taking them before or during doesn’t do it. Maybe it’s because I digest really slowly? So yes, 3-5 all the time can make them potentially expensive, but they really work for me, so I try to buy these in bulk whenever possible. Excellent work Michael’s!

While it may just be a coincidence, both times when I used these as suggested (empty stomach etc.) I ended up with my knee going out and neck cramps… Basically the opposite of what most reviewers seem to state.

There doesn’t seem to be any problem when I use them with food, but other than behaving like most digestive enzymes (makes food easier for me to digest) I haven’t noticed any particular advantage over others. Slightly less effective I think, but it’s pretty subtle. I plan to use them along with my normal digestive enzymes until gone.

So, bottom line: Not ordering anymore. No anti-inflammatory effect for me. Ok as regular enzymes.

My blood test showed sky high inflammation. I took several supplements including this one. On my next blood work six weeks later, my inflammation markers were back to normal. This is physical proof of its effectiveness. I mention the blood work because we don’t always know that we have high inflammation in the body by any symptoms. And yet inflammation must be present for most of the scary diseases such as cancer, dementia and heart disease. Being able to get my inflammation markers down to normal with supplements is impressive. I particularly like this formula because it contains proteolytic enzymes which are very well documented to tackle inflammation. It’s combo of key ingredients reduces the quantity of pills that i need to take. My concoction of anti-inflammation supplements helped heal my tennis elbow. I got immediate benefit but it took 3 months before the tennis elbow was completely gone. Even my orthopedic surgeon decided to try it since surgery is typically not effective for tennis elbow and he had it in both elbows. The supplement concoction that i took was Recovery zymes plus Astaxanthin (12 mg extended release from Costco ) plus Tumeric (Solger brand but there are brands (e.g., Life Extension) that can provide higher absorption since Tumeric by itself is poorly absorbed) and fish oil. I have since replaced fish oil with algae oil since fish oil is frequently either contaminated or has spoiled in the capsule. All i need is the DHA and EPA and omega 3s that were in the fish oil and there are many alternative options to get them. Note: I had originally used Wobenzym (before i tried Recovery zymes) but after reading so many reviews that Wobenzym by Garden of Life is no longer an effective formula compared to the original formulation from Germany plus the fact that Recovery zymes has all the ingredients that Wobenzym has plus MORE is what pushed me to Recovery zymes. If you are taking zymes for a specific injury rather than to just reduce body inflammation, the inflammation from an injury is much more difficult so taking a combo of anti-inflammatories plus using ice packs is much more likely to work. There is no doubt in my mind that Recovery zymes (and the rest of my anti-inflammatory supplements listed) accelerate recovery.

I had tried recovery zymes for 3 months and cancelled my subscribe and save order because of what I now realize were unrealistic expectations. I was still sore after working out, doing landscaping, any type of manual labor. I didn’t think they were helping. About a week after I used the last ones, I felt like a truck ran me over with no increase in exertion/working out/etc. What the recovery zymes aren’t is a miracle cure. What they are is help recovering faster, without as much soreness. I reinstated my subscribe and save subscription as fast as I could.

My husband had severe lower back pain and tried ice, heat and another brand of proteolytic enzymes but had no relief. We had used Michael’s Recovery Zymes in the past, so we bought more. After a week of taking them faithfully, the pain subsided. Love this product!

Great product at a great price!! Love how these enzymes help cut the muscle recovery in half after strenuous workout. Also works great in synergy with curcumin supplement for aches and pains! Love this product and highly recommend it to anyone who’s looking for good quality enzymes at a great price.
