When I tell you these were a lifesaver it literally was. Bali belly is no joke. You should take these with every meal. I opted for the double pack which gave me 60 total. If traveling over seas, this is a must!!!

Prior to our trip to Bali, I have never used or heard of Travelan, but I’m glad I did. Travelan is a dietary supplement used to help prevent traveler’s diarrhea. It contains antibodies that target and neutralize harmful bacteria in our gastrointestinal tract which is a common cause of traveler’s diarrhea.

FYI- this is just Bovine Colostrum, which you can buy without the name brand Travelan, although I don’t know if there’s a price difference. I will say that these do come in handy little blister packs so it’s convenient instead of loose pills.
I originally bought these because my friend, also an avid traveler like me, said that it’s supposed to be great. She used it eating street food in India (which I won’t do) and never had any problems. I bought these, but since Im pretty careful with what I ingest, I only used once but never used again because I didn’t feel the need.
At the moment I am in Bali and just came from Thailand and Malaysia. In Malaysia, everything I ate was wrecking my digestive system from nausea, gas, loose stools. I literally booked a flight out of there to get to Bali earlier because I was feeling terrible and didn’t trust the medical system there. I’ve been in Bali for one week and while I’m feeling better than I did in Malaysia, I’ve been having headaches, nausea, complete loss of appetite, and extreme fatigue. Went to the doctor yesterday and my exam and bloodwork just shows an nonspecific viral infection with no severe symptoms to pin point what’s affecting me. Haven’t been able to get out of bed until about 12pm today. I was ready to book a flight home as my next stop is India and I don’t want to go there sick I was googling medical things as usual and found something on bovine colostrum and remembered that I have Travelan with me. I’ve been taking turmeric, probiotics, oregano, black walnut, carprylic acid. I took a Travelan and lay in bed for another half an hour and my severe fatigue and nausea magically went away!! I’m going to continue taking this and hopefully my illness will get better and I won’t have to cancel the rest of my trip. Fingers crossed.. but I did order more Bovine Colostrum for when I get home. Apparently it also helps with autoimmune issues (I have mild rheumatoid arthritis and eczema).

Used these on our most recent trip to Bali. My partner and I took a tablet before every main meal and we didn’t have any issues at all. My partner said his stomach felt really good the whole 9 days whereas the last few times in bali his stomach and bathroom habits were definitely different to say the least. We both didn’t have any TD issues at all. Loved this product and will take them on every trip now especially in bali as we love bali. I’m just scared of bali belly. But these tablets were an absolute blessing. Thank God I found them. Made my trip much easier, less stress and worry.

I cam across Travelan because I noticed the U.S. Department of Defense is studying it as a possible vaccine for a number of gastrointestinal infections, including Shigella. Travelan is much different than regular colostrum supplements because Travelan is a hyperimmune colostrum, meaning it is colostrum taken from cows that have been vaccinated against numerous gastrointestinal pathogens, such as E.Coli. and many others (hence, hyperimmune). In a study of primates, 7/8 primates taking Travelan and exposed to Shigella did not contract Shigella (entirely symptom-free), and 4/4 primates exposed to Shigella and not taking Travelan contracted Shigella. Those are pretty impressive numbers. The compound itself is also being studied in three Phase 2 clinical trials for both non-alcoholic and alcoholic liver disease. The results so far in these trials have been similarly impressive in significantly reducing liver inflammation.
Anyway, someone told me Travelan is a great product to take beforehand if a night out with drinks tends to cause you gas and abdominal pain the next morning. After taking two Travelan before an evening out and a night of good beers, I can 100% say that this stuff did the trick. The next morning, I woke up feeling great with no gas or gas pains. I was quite amazed how well it worked. What a wonderful preventative OTC medicine to have available!
The next time I travel to any foreign countries, I will definitely be taking a pack or two of Travelan along to prevent gastrointestinal discomfort before it starts. This stuff is worth every penny and more.
