The 16 oz container is HUGE! I was thinking that I could probably do a mask every week for the next few years. It is definitely much more economical than buying the small one time use packets.
I have never used a “caviar” mask. The mask reminds me of mud masks that I have used. You simply spread a layer on clean skin, and wait. The mask feels cool and relaxing on your skin. You will know when it is ready to come off (about 15-30 minutes depending on how thick you apply it) because your skin will feel tight and the mask becomes dried and a little itchy. It says to rinse off. I definitely recommend having a washcloth ready. It makes rinsing off much easier. I was initially trying to rinse with just water and it was taking awhile.
The mask leaves your skin feeling clean, soft, and hydrated. I love it! I will definitely be using this mask about once a week to help me relax before bed. I would recommend it.

With a name like Caviar Mask, the obvious question I had before opening the jar was “Is this gonna smell FISHY?” Thankfully, the answer is no. It actually has a mild pleasant fragrance. In fact, the big surprise for me was discovering the product was jet black. It’s not creamy but has the consistency of a gel or jelly, but it feels nice and cool when applied to the face. No stinging or tingling sensation whatsoever. You can’t feel it drying or tightening the skin like some other masks; you wash it off after about 20 minutes or so and your skin is left looking and feeling very clean, refreshed and soft to the touch. (The sink, on the other hand, was a bit of a black mess, but it all washed away pretty easily, so no big deal.)
I do wonder why it’s not called Dead Sea Mud Mask or something similar, since the first few ingredients listed are Dead Sea water and Dead Sea mud. Caviar extract is one of the last ingredients listed. But the lineup of total ingredients is impressive, including ginseng, Vitamin E, marine collagen, sunflower seed oil, olive oil, etc. Love that it’s described as a detoxifying mask; love that it’s not tested on animals.
I’m pleased with the final results — skin looks good, but just a tad on the dry side. So, following it up with a moisturizer is a must.

As other people said this is definitely a different consistency than most masks. It’s definitely more like a gel. I used a little mini spatula type thing that came with another mask I had, it made it difficult to spread because it was plastic, but I didn’t want to get the mask all over my hands. I kept it on for about 20 minutes and it didn’t dry just stayed the gel consistency. Taking it off was a total mess. I was in the bathtub and it left black gel everywhere. It took quite a while to get it all off of my face as well. When first removed I actually felt like my face felt slightly dry and sucked of the moisture. Shortly after though my face definitely did feel really soft. I personally would not purchase this again as it was just too much of a mess for me to feel it was worth it. I will try to use again a few more times and if I change my mind about anything I will update the review!

This mask comes in a generously large jar, compared to many pre-mixed facial masks- 16ozs! The mask itself has a sort of gelatinous consistency which is difficult to rinse off hands after applying and while it does mostly dry on your face if you leave it for 20 mins or so, it’s pretty messy to remove. Having used a lot of clay and charcoal powdered masks I was prepared for messy, so didn’t use my best washcloths and towels. Having caviar in the name and marine collagen as an ingredient, I was also prepared for it have a strong scent, maybe even fishy, but it’s more of a strong hair product scent, like what perms used to smell like. Some might not be bothered by it, but I really don’t like product scents so I actually would have preferred a fishy smell. I used the mask twice and the results on my skin were ok, but not so outstanding that I would overlook the scent and messiness.

Maybe this is too hydrating! For this household, this is not a favorite mask. While it gives an average-fresh feeling, it leaves the face a bit oily afterwards and have to use an oil film or wash. The consistency is a bit runny, but helps to spread a small amount very well. Have to reuse a spatula from somewhere else or prepare to get a bit messy, given the consistency. Rinsing is easy, but leaves clumps in the drain. The fragrance is light and not very pleasant or off-putting. If this works for you, it is a good value for the big jar. Take a chance with the smaller one if you really want to try the ingredients and then graduate to the bigger one. Just average value for this household considering the price (good), cleansing (average), fragrance (below), ease of cleaning (below), freshness afterwards (average).
