I was looking for a decent floor scrubber to add to my company assets, and this was the winner. After doing a lot of research, I finally ordered this along with the orange brush to complete a job in an old shop. I used a degreaser solution and mopped up the muck (a wet shop vac would have been better.. next time). I only quoted the job for a decent surface clean, but it would have been interesting to see what the rest of the attachments would have done to this floor. Easy to handle, quiet, and the perfect weight.

UPDATE: Eight years later, it’s still working great. I’ve purchased multiple bonnets and replaced brushes, but the machine itself has been problem-free. My sister and I both say this is the one household item we would grab on our way out the door if the house caught on fire!
UPDATE: Two years later, the Oreck is running strong. I use it monthly on tile and hardwood and about every six months on carpet. I don’t know how I cleaned without it!
After much research, I purchased this floor machine to use on carpet, hardwood and tile. I debated buying the Ultra, but decided on the Commercial because of the more powerful motor and excellent recommendations on multiple web sites. I have seen several for sale on Craigslist that have been used for years and are still running strong, and people seemed to have fewer problems with the Commercial than with the Ultra. The Ultra does come with a 10 year warranty (vs. 1 year on the Commercial with 5 years on the motor) and I could have purchased it from a nearby dealer. It was about $80 more than the Commercial on Amazon, but the knowledge that they would service it locally was the main thing that caused me to consider it. They did not sell the Commercial.
We have off-white olefin Berber carpet. I vacuum regularly and have had it professionally cleaned in addition to DIY shampooing, but there were always a few stains that remained and the carpet resoiled within weeks/months. I had the best results with a business that used an encapsulation cleaner, a system used mainly for commercial carpet. The cleaner works by surrounding the dirt and locking it in as it dries. The dirt is then lifted out of the carpet with vacuuming. But we live far from this business and it always took weeks to get an appointment (we had to wait until they were doing other jobs near us). I was always amazed at how little time it took took them to clean the carpet, how quickly it dried, how good it looked afterward, and the relatively long period of time it continued to look clean. I searched for information on DIY encapsulation cleaning (not much available) and discovered a forum of carpet cleaning business people at http://www.excellent-supply.com. Several of them used the Oreck Orbiter to do smaller jobs. I ordered the machine, a natural fiber brush, a carpet bonnet, and a carpet brush. I also ordered some Releasit Encap Hydrox cleaner (for the Berber) and some Releasit Encap DS2 (for some wool rugs) from Excellent Supply and some Flo-Kem GP107 Green Performance Peroxide Cleaner from Amazon (for the tile). I already had some Bona floor cleaner for the hardwood.
To clean the carpet, I used a 1-gallon garden sprayer and diluted the Releasit Hydrox cleaner per instructions on the bottle. After vacuuming thoroughly, I sprayed any visible stains and then sprayed the entire carpet in approximately 10 x 10 segments. I put the carpet bonnet on the Oreck, dampened it with a little of the solution, and then went over the carpet first in one direction and then at a 90 degree angle to the original passes. I continued to treat 10 x 10 sections until the entire carpet was cleaned. I flipped the bonnet over about halfway through because it was pretty dirty. After waiting about 1 hour, I vacuumed. The carpet looked brand new!!!
On to the kitchen…it’s very large with off-white tile and light grout (what was I thinking?) I’ve always gotten down on my hands and knees and spent LOTS of hours scrubbing the grout with a toothbrush. This time, I vacuumed well, mixed up some of the peroxide cleaner in the garden sprayer, sprayed the grout lines and let it sit for about 10 minutes. Then, working in sections of about 5′ x 5′, I sprayed another pass of cleaner and let the Oreck do the scrubbing. I used my mop with washable pads and quite a few microfiber cloths to wipe up the cleaner after scrubbing (be sure to wear gloves if you wipe by hand…the peroxide cleaner is “green”, but it’s pretty rough on the skin). The machine scrubs, but does not suck up the dirty water, but it took me about one hour total instead of the usual 4-5. Again, the Oreck did a fantastic job. It got rid of wine stains, tracked in dirt, and kitchen grease that imbedded itself in the grout.
I used the carpet bonnet again for the hardwood floors…just sprayed the Bona on the wood and polished. The results were much better than when I mopped with my Swiffer. I would suggest getting extra bonnets, though, if you are doing lots of hardwood, as you will need to flip and change fairly frequently to avoid spreading dirt. I noticed Excellent Supply has scrubbing pads and bonnets for a good bit less than I paid for them on Amazon (no free shipping, though)…wish I had ordered some when I ordered the cleaner.
I’ve only had the Oreck a week, although I’ve cleaned every floor in my house with it (about 3000 square feet). I expect the cleaners I used are equally responsible for my satisfaction, but I couldn’t have done it at all without the Oreck. I’ll update in the future with information on the Orbiter’s longevity, but so far, I’m elated. It’s an expensive initial investment for the machine, brushes, bonnets and cleaners, but should save money in the long run.

Es muy ligera, no vibra como otras maquinas, y es muy potente, quizas para un trabajo rudo de pisos muy acabados o espacios muy amplios es mejor una mas grande pero para una casa o departamento es perfecta. La use en piso de marmol, y los cojinetes o almohadillas se pueden encargar facilmente tambien por amazon.

Excellent floor cleaner – definitely worth the time and expense!
Easy to operate
Use the Blue brush for deep grout – it works easiest and best
Large spaces with deep grout may need to use more than one brush to finish the job (order extra)
Only one issue – if you are puny and have small hands removing the brush is very difficult – you will need help
I have the most beautiful and horrible Travertine floors and was looking for something to help clean the canyons of grout filled with dirt. If you are thinking about getting floors like mine, DON’T! They are the worst to keep clean with their rustic looking huge grout channels. But thanks to this Oreck floor cleaner, months of debris nearly floated away! (check out the pictures of my floor, cleaned areas versus the dirty bits – which I added)
The Oreck Commercial Orbiter Floor Machine worked wonders on the massive crevices in my flooring. If you have floors with deep, wide grout spaces and never seem to get the dirt up no matter how much you mop, then this floor cleaner is what you need. I ordered the orange brush thinking I needed something rugged and heavy duty but the blue brush was actually the best, as it was softer and able to get deep in the cracks.
When I first used the orange brush I felt the need to twist the Orbiter to get the brush into the cracks because it was so stiff, it was basically passing over them. Just so you know, bending the machine to get in the cracks actually makes it harder on your arms and wrists, and beats the crap out of the brush. So about half a floor later (several hours), I had to switch the orange brush out because it became matted and compressed and no longer worked well (picture included of the abused orange brush). I then used the blue brush and immediately noticed a huge difference! It was softer so it got in the cracks easily and I no longer had to twist the machine to get the same results. Of course I ended up having to switch out the blue brush to another blue brush because I could tell when it was getting worn and not working as well.
I seriously did almost 5,000 square feet of flooring and used 3 brushes, so I guess that’s not too bad. It would have been great to only used one, but I wasn’t complaining since my floor was looking amazing. It took many, many hours and a few days to get it all done, but it looks like new and I am now forcing everyone to comply to my no shoes in the house policy to help maintain the floors cleanliness, so that I, hopefully, won’t have to do this again for another 6-8 months or longer.
The only downside of this machine is that I find it too difficult to get the brushes off to replace them after using them for the day and need the assistance of someone much stronger with larger hands than mine. Too bad they don’t have a tool to help get the brush off, for people with small hands that are on the puny side.
Overall, totally worth the money and time spent making my floors new again!!

This floor cleaner works awesome. It’s very simple to use, select your attachment, turn the switch on, and let it work. You just guide it along and let it do the job. The cord is very long, so you aren’t having to move it from plug to plug as much. One thing I would like to see as a future update would be for the handle to lock upright. If you are not holding it, a small bump can make it fall. That’s not enough of an issue for this machine to lose a star though. I was looking at renting a floor cleaner, and although this one is not as big, it seems very high quality, it’s very quiet, and I can use it whenever I want. If you think you might rent one, it only takes a few rentals to pay for this. The pads I have bought for it are very high quality and reasonably priced as well.
