I normally don’t use a lot of facial oils but wanted to give this a try since I have not tried manuka oil before. The scent is quite strong but for I’m not sensitive to scent. I was bummed to see the hero ingredient pretty low down on the ingredients list. The top ingredients are all common face oil carriers like sunflower, rice bran, and avocado oil. I have a 6 step facial routine and I noticed if I tried to use this over my serum it has a hard time sinking in. However I also feel like these are not occlusive oils based on my research so if your skin is dry you may need an occlusive on top. I’m going to try mixing this into one of my creams and seeing if it can boost my skin that way.

Right off the bat … wow! The smell is so bad. It smells like a barn that horses have been in. It is very earthy/woody almost like a combination of Pachoulli and manure. The worst part is because it is a thicker oil, the smell does kind of linger without dissipating. As they say on shark tank … for this reason, I’m out.

Also … I see Manuka and I see a bee on the box … but does this contain Manuka honey?? Nowhere in the ingredients does the word honey appear. Manuka Branch Oil, combined with another oil appears in the ingredients … but I cannot find the word honey. Some research suggests that Manuka Oil and Manuka honey have the same effects … others say Manuka Oil is 100 times stronger than Manuka Honey in terms of anti-biotic, anti-bacterial and anti-inflammation.

While few serious scientific studies credit Manuka Oil, or honey, as being quite the ‘miracle drug’ that many skincare companies claim it is … there is evidence it can be used somewhat successfully in wound healing. I could find no actual scientific data to substantiate claims of reducing fine lines and wrinkles. In fact, there are 9 ingredients listed above Manuka Branch Oil in the ingredient list.

If you can get beyond the smell, this is kind of greasy/oily. Almost like a somewhat watered down version of olive oil. It leaves my face looking a bit shiny and oily for 30 minutes to an hour before it absorbs. I also notice that if I am walking/running around and am even a little hot, it will cause me to sweat harder than normal. Probably because the oil blocks the pores a bit.

Manuka Oil MAY help keep skin hydrated and soft by filling in the spaces between skin cells to promote moist, soft skin. It is true Manuka Honey can be found in skincare products thousands of years old … but did it work then? Does it work now? Mainly anecdotal.

The terrible smell of this might come from a witches’ brew of synthetic fragrances. Towards the end you’ll see:
    – Geraniol
    – Alpha-isomethyl Ionone
    – Hydroxycitronella
All are fragrances derived from essential oils in the citrus/plant/flower family. All are synthetic and most are safe, although Alpha Isomethyl Ionone is listed by the European Chemical Agency as being harmful to aquatic life.

This comes in a glass bottle with a medicine dropper. At 0.85 ounces, it is a small bottle but as with many topical oils, a little goes a long way. Honestly, due to the bad smell of this, even more so. Would I order this again? Absolutely not. Will some people like it? Maybe. The most important question …

Will this make me look younger?

There are no non-surgical or injectable things you rub on your face which will turn back the hands of time and undo age-related damage. None. The best you can hope for vs. turning back the hamds of time is to slow the hands on the clock down. The best way to do this is by moisturizing and keeping your skin moist and soft … and using anti-inflsmmatory/anti-oxidants while doing it to help eliminate free radicals. This has some of those, which occur naturally … and the first 4 or 5 ingredients listed are oils. So in practice, if you can get past the smell … this may help you slow down the aging clock.

Will this make a 50 year old look 30 again? No chance. Will it help a 50 year old not look 70 when they reach 70? It most certainly could. I hope my review and photos helped you make a buying decision. I have research skincare items and ingredients from a science vs. anecdotal background for the last decade, so my goal is to pass that knowledge along to you.

Not sure if it’s working but I can tell you it smells like old wet clothes..

This was a nice brightening oil, the smell makes me think of sunflowers, it smells nice and the feel of the oil is very hydrating and not a very thick clogging oil. An hour later, I can still get the sweet scent of this oil and has a cooling feel. Overall a great product!

A little goes a long way so this will last awhile. When I first put it on it felt oily but rubbing it in for a few seconds the oily feel went away. You put this on first then you can add your regular cream. It has a very light fragrance. Manuka honey is so good for your skin, hydrating, eczema, acne and pigmentation so with the honey in this you will be doing your skin a favor. Works great with other products. Price is really good

Works well enough but the smell is HORRENDOUS. Dirty socks mixed with cheesy BO.

I find that this oil is definitely different than most on the market for facial care. Bee venom I have not used before. The other items, I have used to some degree in ingredient lists, and I find this a nice oil. The scent I am not a fan, but I believe the honey and other ingredients make up for that issue. It is long known on the health properties of honey. I am curious as to how this will change my skin and breakouts over time. I recommend giving this a try.

This nourishing skin oil is exactly what I needed! Didn’t irritate my super sensitive skin! I have facial eczema so I have to be VERY cautious with my skincare products! This oil has very clean ingredients ! It has a very slight medicinal odor to it but nothing too overpowering! It’s barely detectable! Only a few drops were needed to fully moisture my face! It’s light enough for day use under makeup or night use if you apply more of it! I will definitely order again when I run out!
