I essentially concur with the previous review. It is a little more solid than others, maybe it has not been whipped and churned like others do. But it melts easily after working it up in the hands with a drop of hot water. It has a lightly stronger nutty smell than others. I can’t tell whether it precludes freshness of the product or it’s just the quality of the nut itself.
It seems fine to me and the nutty smell disappears once applied. I like the product a lot.

I ordered the small tub of this shea butter to see if it would be compatible with my super sensitive skin. In the past I would purchase shea butter at flea markets & online and they all would respond negatively with my skin. This is truly 100% unrefined shea butter! I’m glad that I can order in conveniently off of Amazon instead of shopping at a boutique far from my home to have good shea butter! Not to mention it works miracles on eczema! Super moisturizing! Also, the scent is mild compared to other shea butters in my opinion.

I love this stuff! I got it because the other reviews looked good, and I had never bought any before. The product turned out to surpass my expectations (based on some product horror stories I read during my project) which was such a relief. It worked perfectly for the lip balm I made. I mixed it equally with beeswax and coconut oil, but in retrospect, I’d add more shea and a little liquid coconut oil, and reduce the beeswax some.

Overall the best shea butter on the market. Deep moisturization that improves your overall skin health and even my dermatitis was healed using this product. I use it after shower/before bed. Good price point as well. The plastic container it comes in is another story. It literally broke in half on my first use of the butter. I luckily had a replacement container the same size. Please improve the cheap, plastic, easily breakable container. Otherwise great butter. Hopefully Plant Guru will see all these reviews basically saying improve the containers!

Great cream every soft and nice smelling. Like nut and vanilla.
Would highly recommend.

I have never used Shea butter before. I bought it for several reasons and I am thrilled with the results so far. It is great for dry skin and for helping wounds to heal quicker. I hear it is good to use on your scalp but I have not tried that yet as I only bought it a couple of weeks ago. I would highly recommend this product.

I bought this to make diaper rash cream for my son. It has a wonderful nutty smell. I mixed it with coconut oil, beeswax, zinc, and a little kaolin clay. The cream smells amazing! I’m going to mix some up for a skin cream for his eczema as well. I melted the beeswax and coconut oil then added the shea butter as it was cooling. The cream came out smooth, not grainy.
Will purchase again!
Edit: I just had to add something. First of all, this butter does have a smell by itself that can be off putting, it’s very nutty and very strong. Coconut oil smoothes out the scent nicely. It also does take a moment in the hands to soften, but I also have very cold hands.
Second of all… I have been applying this butter (by itself) to my son’s (6 month old) eczema for a couple days. I have tried all sorts of stuff one his skin: coconut oil, olive oil, avocado oil, vitamin e oil, Aveeno, Vaseline, Aquaphor, CeraVe (we have also tried probiotics, oatmeal and baking soda baths, really we’ve done it all short of dipping him in paraffin wax)… and have been losing my mind over it because nothing seemed to work. We started to use this and saw an instant improvement in the middle of a very bad flair. We had used some hydrocortisone the first day and decided not to do it the second (we normally have to use it for several days before his skin starts to improve, so much that we have had to use prescription strength before and have been to the doctor several times about it) because it wasn’t dry anymore (still red though). Today we noticed that while the eczema is still spreading over his chest (as it does and is likely because he’s teething), the redness even is going down. I am floored! All I can say is that this is AMAZING! He’s had severe eczema since he was 2 months old – the kind that cracks and bleeds. His skin is finally recovering and without steroids!
I’m pretty sure now that shea butter is magic!
Update 12/30/17: I have now tried two different shea butters from Amazon and have noticed a difference (though subtle). I figured I’d note these differences.
I have come to the conclusion that this shea butter may have been left in the sun for too long or subjected to heat (perhaps to pack it in the tub)… or perhaps it is just a little older of stock than others.
Compared to the other I have tried this butter:
– The scent is less sweet. I do not think it smells rancid by any means, but it is certainly more nutty and a little bitter.
– It is a little more crumbly (which is why I think it may have been subjected to a little heat… it is smoothed out fine when whipped though
– It is more solid / less creamy initially… however (perhaps it was subjected to more air, or as said before is perhaps from older stock)
– It actuality melts better when worked in the hands (I’m not sure why)
I hope this review is helpful.

A little goes a long way. It just smells like Shea.. nothing more, and that is what I needed. The Shea smell dissipate and you are left with soft, moisturized skin. Can use in hair (my hair loves it) on the face and body. Purchased for eczema and now need no other lotion/moisturizer.
