Smells like normal shea butter which is fairly nutty like. Shea butter is naturally quite hard at room temperature. I used a spoon to scrap out a small amount on my hand and it melted quickly on my skin and works well. It is exactly what you should expect from raw shea butter. I have used other shea butters before and this ones seems good. I plans on using it in soap, lotion bars and other skin care products.
The plastic container was broken when I got it, however it’s cold and the butter is hard so it none of it got out and there was no debris inside.
I will probably add to this review after my solid lotion bar is finished.

UPDATE: After speaking with SmellGood, we have concluded that the shea butter I received is indeed genuine SmellGood brand. Also, please be aware that they fill 32 oz jar with shea butter, and so you will get less than 32 oz shea butter by weight. I got about 28 oz. Kind of annoying but its still a great price. As for the butter, it is easily scraped out of jar and has a good fondant-like texture. After rubbing it with hands it becomes an oil that is easily applied to body. There are tiny stearic acid beads that some might call “gritty” but I just keep rubbing until all the fat is completely melted. The color is vibrant yellow from being root-dyed. CAUTION: It can stain cloth, so please use with care. If super fair, it will also tint your complexion (a plus for me). I find that I use less yellow shea butter goes further than ivory, so I end up using less. It has good lab results with minimal levels of free fatty acids and peroxide, and also acceptable level of unsaponifiable matter (the healing fraction of the butter which contains the vitamins, triterpenes, phenols, and sterols). I have tried many brands and SmellGood and Karitex are the brand I can recommend.

I ordered this “SmellGood” shea butter from Amazon a few days ago. When it came I decided to check its weight. It weighed 28.35 oz so I decided to contact the seller about it. I went on my phone, clicked on my order, and then scrolled to find out if it said anything in the description about it’s ounces because the title said it was 32 oz. I noticed a chart underneath the category “feature and details” that listed HalalEveryday as the manufacturer. I didn’t remember seeing this chart when I first ordered it so I went to my computer to more conveniently look up its details. This chart was nowhere to be found on the computer version of the listing. It was only available on my smartphone version of the listing. SmellGood and HalalEveryday are two different companies. So then I had an Amazon chat with a representative. The representative said they would report the issue to the right team. So I am not sure that this is truly Smellgood brand or if it is HalalEveryday and neither is Amazon (who I might point out or the sellers of this item). The experience was kind of frustrating because I just want authentic SmellGood brand because they are one of the few shea brands here that have good lab result levels for free fatty acids, peroxide, and unsaponifiable matter. Some of the shea companies are resorting to doing cosmetic testing instead of food laboratory testing. Cosmetic testing does not test as many parameters as food laboratory testing does (like unsaponifiable matter). It is important to know what the unsaponifiable matter percentage is because this is where the nutrients and good sterols are. A lot of other brands of shea butter contain between only 1 and 2% unsaponifiable matter. SmellGood contains about 4%. You can email smell good for a copy of the labs of the shea butter that you bought from them. 4% is not fantastic but it is much more acceptable than 1 to 2%.

I bought a new container, strong with a threaded lid for just $1 and transferred all to the new container

Mucho producto a un excelente precio.
El olor es algo peculiar pero nunca antes la había probado así que desconozco si así es como huele normalmente.
La utilizo en el rostro y no me saca brotes, era para lo que la quería y funcionó perfecto.
También la he aplicado en el cabello y se absorbe muy bien. La recomiendo.

I was making body butter and needed shea butter. This was a good price so I decided to give it a shot. It has a good seal and is high quality. It smells a bit strange and is not as tan as I expected. It’s closer to a yellowish color. But, if you add in some essential oils, the smell is much better. It also made my skin feel much healthier.

Love this Shea butter. I use it on my body and it’s very moisturizing. Great on my face too, does not cause breakouts. Great moisturizer and no harsh smell. Only complaint is the container will leak if you leave it in the heat.

The 32 oz jar offers plenty of product, and the quality is fantastic. It’s thick, creamy, and melts easily into the skin, leaving it deeply moisturized and soft.

This stuff is amazing. My skin was looking pretty dry and sun damaged. Especially after using skin care that contained too much chemicals. I was using Cerave the ointment but it was not working for me only making my skin look worse I found out it has too much propylene glycol and other chemicals. The Shea butter has made a huge difference. It’s even making my eyebrows grow back which I did not expect . I had over plucked when I was a teenager. I will definitely buy more .
