So I heard of maca root from a client. They recommended it for energy and fertility. After 3 months of taking it in pill form they got pregnant. Although, it’s only been 2 weeks since my husband and I have been drinking it, I’m already seeing a boost of energy within myself and my husband’s increased urge for sexual intercourse.
I’ll make a maca root latte with almond milk, cinnamon, vanilla and brown sugar. It has a robust nutty flavor but it’s a great coffee replacement and tastes so good with the added ingredients.

The packaging was slightly opened and the powder was everywhere within the plastic packing. I am not going to eat this, can’t get refund for this item either. I normally buy garden of life items but this is the first time am seeing defective packaging

This is very high quality maca. Smells great, tastes delicious. Functionally, it does what maca is supposed to do – good energy, positive mood, strong libido. I’ve had low-quality maca and that is not what this is – this is high grade gelatinized maca.

UPDATE: I gave this another try after a friend suggested it may be conflicting with another supplement. I have since stopped taking a few and so far, I’m not having a bad reaction to this product anymore. It gives me energy for sure and I appreciate the other benefits I may be getting. I change from 1 star to 3 because I want to give it more time. And unfortunately, I’m not sure what supplement may have not agreed with this powder when I first tried it. All of our bodies are different. For the benefits, I’d say, give it a try. Side note: and may be an important one for women, when I began taking this the little hair on my chin didn’t come back when I removed it. That’s a sign that it’s helping balance my wacky hormones.
You get a lot for your money and this is a quality brand (I purchase tons form them), but after using a few days I noticed my night sweats got worse. Whereas before I’d only experience during my period, taking this it began nightly and during the day. Maybe I’m one of those people that shouldn’t try Maca. With so many benefits, I really wanted it to work. I tried capsules before and the same thing happened, and I threw them way losing that money when I should’ve returned. I won’t make the same mistake this time. Again, great brand, just not for my body.

The directions on this powder say to mix a teaspoonful with your drink. I do not find that it mixes particularly well or easily. I tried it in iced tea and it was horrid. It did not mix well, it clouded the tea, and it change the taste to something incomprehensible and rather nasty. It tastes a good bit like a malt with a hint of raw, unseasoned sweet potato. I have taken maca root in capsule form before and much prefer it that way.
I later tried it just in a teaspoon, eating the powder and chasing it with some soda. That works much better for me. It doesn’t have a grainy taste, it’s just powdery, and will dry your mouth out if you do not chase it with some liquid.
This does taste like the maca root that I have tried before. It is considered an adaptogen, but a lot of people take it 4 balancing out hormone issues, increasing energy and stamina, and enhancing sexual libido and endurance. I personally cannot tell when I take it.
I would only recommend this to people who plan on adding it to smoothies or to those people who plan on making their own capsules with it. It’s really not that pleasant to take it alone and I don’t find it good and drinks. I can take it if I just get a spoonful and then a drink afterward.
For most other people I would recommend that they try prefilled capsules before trying this powder.
ETA Taking this keeps giving me really dirty, vivid dreams. I don’t know if that is common or not. This is the first brand that has caused this with me, but it happens several times after taking it – and I mean, they just go on and on all night. It’s very strange as I don’t normally dream things like I am dreaming. I upped my rating to 4 because it’s clear to me that taking this is having a definite effect. My husband hasn’t had any effect at all from taking it, and he’s been taking extra since I told him about some of my dreams lately. He wants to have some too.

Totally worth it, and it does taste incredibly earthy! Be sure to buy an electrolyte mix or have juice on hand, will help to swish it down. Will buy again.
