These can be taken directly as well as being used to reduce the lactose in milk products. For whatever reason regular lactase pills do not work at all for me. All the pills I can find on the market right now are the lactase derived from Aspergillus. That form of lactase is inexpensive, but only active in an acid environment like in your stomach. I don’t know why it’s not active in my stomach but it isn’t. I can take literally a dozen of the highest dose pills I can find and get only a partial and unreliable effect. 4 or 5 drops of this either directly on my tongue or in a little bit of water and it’s reliable and works perfectly every time. The lactase in these drops is derived from the Kluyveromyces yeast and is only active in alkaline environments so it doesn’t start to work until after it passes through your stomach. This is where your own body used to excrete it’s own lactase. Only the Kluyveromyces derived form will work in a carton of milk which is how you can tell for sure that this is the Kluyveromyces derived alkaline active lactase. It is the more expensive form and much harder to find, but it’s the only kind that works at all for me.
I have even gone so far as to mix 4 drops of this with dextrose and pack that into enteric coated capsules for easier carrying around. This was a lot of work and I don’t bother anymore. I just carry the little dropper and put 4 or 5 drops on my tongue before eating something.
Don’t add it directly to hot things like your coffee though. The denaturing temperature for this enzyme is around 130F which might easily be the temperature of that nice hot cup of coffee you are just about to put cream in. Just swallow the drops first. The carrier is glycerine so they taste slightly sweet and feels syrupy. It’s not exactly pleasant but it’s not bitter or difficult to swallow.
It’s probably the case that the other brand of lactose drops that Amazon carries will also work, but I haven’t tested those on myself personally. I’m sticking to these now as I’m tired of making myself sick trying to find a brand that works. These are wonderful.

I got this a week ago and have just started experimenting with it but wanted to share how things are going so far.

Let me preface by saying I have been lactose intolerant since I was a teenager. I used to take the pills with the enzyme so I could enjoy the best foods like pizza and ice cream. A few months ago, the pills weren’t working as well so I had to take 2. Then, taking 2 pills wasn’t working so well. I’m pregnant now and for some reason, I am SUPER lactose intolerant! If I have a single tsp of dairy, I feel very sick. Greasing a pan with butter to make eggs is out of the question. If I have ANY dairy, I get sick, nauseous and throw it up. So lactose is a serious problem for me.

ANYWAY, here’s what I did. I added 15 drops of lacteez to a gallon of milk. I waited just under 72 hours and it worked. It worked 100%. I had no problems, no indication that my tummy felt anything unusual. I really tried to pay attention because I wanted to make sure I was using the right amount for my crazy intolerance. (I am also cheap so if I could get away with using less drops and waiting longer for the enzymes to do it’s thing, i’ll opt for that option). I AM VERY EXCITED TO ADD THIS TO CREAM so I can make butter because a life without butter is no life at all my friends. I’ll update when I have more results! But definitely try it if you are on the fence!

UPDATE: LOVE THIS STUFF!!!! Lacteez works great in cream and buttermilk and I use this ALL the time for that! Honestly, I don’t even bother using it with milk because there are so many options out there already. I want this for my cream so I can make butter, ice cream and desserts. For cream, I add 8 drops to a half gallon and it’s ready in 36 hours. For buttermilk, I add 16 drops to a 1/2 gallon and it’s ready in 36 hours. These drops are awesome and it’s changed my whole lactose free life. 10 stars!!

UPDATE 2: I kept track of how many drops i got from a bottle. I got 230 drops. So now you can do the math to figure out how much butter and whipped cream you can make. I am still so excited about these drops. They seriously changed my entire food life!!

I used aprox 28-30 drops per gallon of milk and let it sit for at least 24 -48 hours before drinking and it worked well for my twin boys who are huge milk consumers but can not have lactose due to fructose malabsorption. using 28 – 30 drops per gallon of whole milk i was able to get 12 gallons of milk per the 15.5 ml lacteeze bottle.

It is a great price saver for us vs name brand lactaid, and marginal vs generic lactose free milk.

Assuming I generally pay about $2.89 for a gallon of milk at my local store ( I get costco when possible which would be a greater savings, but sometimes I just go regular store as we drink ALOT of milk) it was a decent price.

    Per gallon
$5.08 for regular milk and lacteeze drops (1 gallon size)
$5.78 for target market Pantry lactose free milk (purchased in two 1/2 gallon containers)
$7.98 for Lactaid whole milk (purchased in two 1/2 gallon containers)

So for 12 gallons the price would be aprox

$60.96 for whole milk + drops
    $69.36 for market pantry generic
    $95.76 for Lactaid milk

So the price savings if you are using lactaid is signifficant!!! The price savings on generic is going to payoff if you are a frequent milkl drinker over the course of a year!!We go through about 1 gallon every 2-3 days so its a good savings over time. if I dedicated myself to getting milk at costco it would be even more worth it.

You may be able to get more use out of the lacteeze depending on your sensitivity to lactose, and how long you allow the drops to work. The more advanced you are with your planning and the sensitivity level will vary.

Bonus this is great for those who are pumping breast milk as it can be used with breast milk!! so you can enjoy a non soy lattee 🙂

drawback is you pretty much have to order online 🙁 so you have to plan ahead. and you need 24 hours at least after the treatment for the drops to convert the sugars.
