Let’s talk kudzu root, the plant that’s gone from taking over Southern landscapes to sitting comfortably on my kitchen counter. I gave this liquid wonder a try for menopausal benefits and liver detox, and while it hasn’t turned me into a glowing goddess overnight, it’s quietly doing its thing with no drama. Here’s the lowdown on this earthy elixir.
Mellow Taste & Easy Mixing: The flavor is refreshingly mild, and it mixes effortlessly into water. No gagging, no grimaces—just a sip and done.
Natural Approach to Wellness: Kudzu has a long history of being a natural hero for a variety of health woes, from menopausal symptoms to liver detox. As someone who prefers plants over pills, I’m intrigued.
Potential Benefits Galore: Studies suggest it may help with body fat reduction, boost blood circulation, and even act as a phytoestrogen for managing menopause. While I can’t claim dramatic results just yet, it’s nice to know I’m giving my body some herbal TLC.
Minimal Side Effects: I’ve been using this daily with no weird side effects, which is always a win in my book. However, if you’re a guy, you might want to research how kudzu interacts with estrogen production before diving in.
Pros:
-Easy to consume (no funky aftertaste!).
-Offers a wide array of potential benefits, from inflammation reduction to aiding alcohol withdrawal.
-Made in the USA (according to Pura Herba, though details on the company are scant).
-Pairs well with my preference for herbal remedies over synthetic options.
Cons:
-The lack of detailed product info is a bit frustrating—come on, Pura Herba, give us the tea!
If you’re into natural solutions kudzu root might just be your next health experiment. Cheers to rooting for wellness, one dropper at a time!

Kudzu is a well known invasive waterway plant in some areas. I was surprised to learn that the root has medicinal attributes. From what I’ve read, it can address hangover and dizziness symptoms . . . which is a good thing as it is Christmas holiday season. I appreciate that it is a single ingredient tincture.

Decided to take the supplement to help with cravings after doing intense research online on the ingredients. Taking the product is easy with the included dropper and I was able to feel the effects. Unfortunately for me, I did have headaches when taking, I did stop taking several times and restarted just to confirm it was the product. I do have the same issue with some ingredients so I do feel this is a good product and worth trying.

I was worried the Kudzu root might have a bitter taste such as kava or kratom does — but there was zero taste at all adding this to my water. There are many benefits Kudzu Root offers — I will say my alcohol cravings have gone down. Is that because of this or just will power? Hard to say but I’ve taken this very easily on an empty stomach so the safety profile seems quite good.

Over the years I have learned to use the label and the ad to judge the quality of a supplement. I use not only what IS there, but also what isn’t there.
Pura Herba Kudzu Root
PROS:
In an amber glass bottle.
Kudzu root and glycerin are the only 2 ingredients and they’re both organic.
NO fillers! No chemical preservatives (glycerin is a preservative).
VERY TRANSPARENT Gives a lot of info, a lot that many should but don’t. Pure Herba used dried root and a menstrum ratio of 1:3. I’ve made extracts and I really appreciate the information.
Extract is made in USA, and the information is on the label. No looking through a miles long ad or posting a question to find out.
$20 for 85 servings is 24¢ per serving. Currently on sale for $17 with a 10% coupon making it only 18¢ per serving.
CONS:
Uses the term tincture on the label to identify this glycerite. Glycerites are made with glycerite, tinctures are made with alcohol, so to call it a tincture, then to state it’s alcohol free on the label, it’s an oxymoron. It’s a sign of either an uninformed manufacturer or the manufacturer thinking their consumer is uninformed. Both tinctures and glycerites are extracts, but the terms are not interchangeable. Call it what it is, a glycerite extract. A company making a product as good as this one should seek to educate the consumer, not perpetuate ignorance.

I like this one. It seems like good quality, although this is my first time trying kudzu so I’m no expert. But I think it’s pretty good.

Kudzu Root Extract Organic Supplement (Alcohol Free, Vegan – 2 Fl Oz, Brand: the Pura Herba Store)- This is alcohol free and indeed under other listed ingredients is sugar water. Kudzu root extract in sugar water. Good for gastrointestinal upset and support for withdrawal symptoms. Sealed well, no leaks, no foul odor or bad taste. Organic and made in the USA. Seems to be a quality product. I’m withholding consuming the contents until I’m ill. Which hopefully I won’t need. It’s nice to have a tool in the medicine box which may help.
