I have been using cooling neck wraps for years and my old ones finally wore out so it was time for a change. I bought some of the cheaper wraps but they were very disappointing. They didn’t have nearly enough of the absorbent gel in them and they would dry out too fast. I threw them out and bought three KOOLGATOR wraps and they are fantastic. They have a lot of absorbent gel in them and they soak up water way faster than the cheap ones. It definitely pays to spend a little more to get a quality product.
I do have one small complaint: the snap that holds the ends together is too weak. When running hard to chase down a ball on the tennis court, the snap sometimes comes open. That is very distracting when in the middle of a point. If not for that I would have given them a five star rating.

Once these are fully submerged for a while they’ll fill up and work. The “cold” feeling lasts about as long as any other neck cooler. But these seem to hold a lot more water which helps keep your body temp down, but my major complaint is the ‘buttons’. They don’t keep closed or “snapped” shut. So if you’re planning on wearing these while doing anything other than remaining stationary, look elsewhere. Moving around normally will cause these to un-snap and fall off.

The basic idea of a water-activated, reusable cooling method is a good one. Follow the directions and you will indeed get some cooling relief for a time. Unfortunately, the small neck wrap warms up quickly from body heat and and the cooling effect from the beads inside is quickly dissipated. Not useful beyond about 45 minutes in hot summer weather. In addition, this neck wrap gets VERY sweaty (and possibly dirt-covered) when wearing it to garden, mow, do other yardwork, sports, etc. You really need to be able to handwash such a thing; who wants a sweaty/crusty neckerchief? The only problem is that the neck wrap this takes DAYS if not WEEKS to dry out after being handwashed washed and hung up. You don’t really want to store it away when wet, so the only recourse is to leave these damp, floppy tubes hanging over a towel rod or over a doorknob (or on a drying rack in front of a fan) until they are dry enough to put away. (Rather unsightly.) I think your best bet– rather than purchasing this item– is a cooling ice-pack style neck wrap that you can hand wash– one that dries quickly and can be kept in the fridge or freezer between uses. This is the solution I eventually went for; it lasts longer and is far more effective and practical.

J’ai utilisé une seule fois à date, aussitot qu’on le met on sent le refroidissement, mais cet effet disparait plus le temps avance. Je présume que si on le retire et qu’on le remet après quelque temps l’effet de refroidissement se fera sentir à nouveau. Le point que je n’aime pas du tout, c’est l’attache, c’est une petite attache à pression (snap) en plastique qui est difficile a attacher et qui à beaucoup de difficulté à rester attaché, a un point tel que l’on est jamais certain s’il est attaché ou non. Pour le prix il y a surement d’autres produits qui offrent de meilleure performances.

These don’t do a whole lot in South Florida. They get warm quickly and it is so hot and humid that the evaporative cooling effect doesn’t work that well. That doesn’t mean these don’t work, just not for me on the high-humidity days. But if you bring a little cooler with you and keep a pair on ice, you can rotate them and stay pretty cool.

This is my 2nd Kooligator. These are much better than the cooling wrap scarves. Great product!

Works about as well as a wetting a normal cool towel or neck gaiter. The absorbant pellets inside definitely hold water longer than a normal cool towel. But they also release the moisture more slowly than a cool tool. So the rate of evaporation, and thus the level of cooling, is less. If this were the only issue I’d give three starts. But the biggest problem is that the tiny plastic snaps used to keep it around your neck are absolutely useless. It takes several attempts before you can get them to snap together. Once they do connect they pull apart very easily. Using it on a bike ride the snaps came undone and I barely caught the kooligator before it slipped of my shoulders as I was riding.
I bought 3 of them and they all have the same issues with the snaps. A redesign is in order: recommend stronger snaps, or small rare earth magnets, or simply use velcro instead. I can’t recommend this product.

It’s nice to find a product that actually does what it is supposed to with clear directions.
