A convenient and easy way to check your blood iron levels at home. However, it’s not comprehensive as getting your labs done because though my iron levels tested “normal” with this test, when I got my blood drawn, my ferritin level was very low.
The instructions were very detailed making the test easy to use. However, I had difficulty getting enough blood for the pipette before the pin prick started clotting and no longer giving blood flow. So I think that having to use a pipette is a wasted step. Just take your finger and dab the drop of blood from your finger directly onto the test strip. It should work exactly the same instead of having to try and injure yourself to fill up the pipette. Just make sure you WASH your hands beforehand.
This is a convenient way to check at home whether someone has an iron deficiency but it won’t tell you if your iron levels are too high, nor any other detailed info that a comprehensive blood draw would tell you like ferritin levels. So don’t use in replace of lab work.

I don’t like getting blood tests and having tons of blood pulled from my body, yet I do like to know what’s going on inside my body. What a conundrum right? Hence the reason this sort of test comes in handy. I’ve had issues with low ferritin in the past, so this is a perfect, affordable and easy to do solution to keep an eye on it. I don’t mind the quick pin prick on my finger at all, that was very easy and painless. The test only took 15 minutes and the results seem accurate. I will continue to work on my levels and retest in a few months. This is also a great solution for checking a child’s iron levels, without having to bring them in for a scary blood draw. You could even prick their finger while they’re sleeping if they are a heavy sleeper like my child is.

Ok. It worked, I guess. I just wish I didn’t have to buy a Chinese product to do an in-home health test. Too bad Amazon is fighting the bill in Congress that would require sellers to reveal the name of the country where the products they sell are manufactured .

This is easy to use and the results are clear. It is an option for you if you don’t have insurance to cover for this kind of testing.

As someone prone to bad bouts of anemia, this seemed like it might help cut back of lab work, as well as give me some heads up on when I need to amp up my preventative measures. I’m really pleased with this product, and glad I gave it a shot! The instructions are very concise and easy to follow. It’s made a nice sturdy materials, and everything is safely and sanitarily packaged. I really appreciated that they included two of the lancelets, just in case you have trouble with the first and eject the plunger without getting the proper puncture you need to collect the blood sample, since some folks can be hesitant with that step if they are new to it and don’t know what to expect. To those folks, don’t flinch or gear yourself up, it’s so fast and barely hurts at all. I think nabbing yourself with a sewing needle is WAY worse. The whole test took less then three minutes of set up, from opening the box, laying out the materials ahead of time, and allowing the place you clean with the alcohol swipe to dry, the skin puncture, and then using the plastic suction tube to get the drop of blood and place it on the test strip. After that, you set the test strip aside and wait. That’s it. They recommend using the ring finger, and it works well, as it’s not used as much as some of the others, though honestly you barely feel any tenderness there afterwards, so it isn’t too big a deal which digit you want to use. If you’re giving products like this a consideration, I definitely say give this brand a shot.

If you want a poor experience, then follow their directions. Otherwise, do not use the pipette. It will frustrate you. And you will get very little blood where it needs to go. Like any pricking your finger tests, be sure to clean your hands well and dry them off completely. Use the lancet, then simply put your finger with its blood drop where the blood needs to go. That way, you get the most blood transfer to the right place, the test strip.
This is a single test per box kit. The problem is reproducibility. It would have been better to have 2 tests per kit. That way you can compare tests to each other.
I am unsure of the accuracy of this test. I tried it on someone who historically had low iron. It showed the level to be normal. I am in favor of empowering people with home tests. And I would have like to have assurances that this test was accurate via some independent lab.

I recently changed my diet and have been feeling tired lately. So I thought I would use this test to see if low iron could be a factor. Since there is only 1 kit, I read the instructions first so I didn’t mess it up. It was pretty easy to follow. There are 2 lancets which was nice. The only issue I had was trying to drop the sample from the pipette into the “S” well; the sample pooled up on the outside of the well instead of falling into the hole. I was able to push it in, but not sure if this would affect results. I wasn’t too concerned since this test was only for my curiosity and I could then follow up with a doctor if need be. The cost of this kit is a little high especially if you need frequent testing. But for intermittent testing without doctor and lab visits, this is a nice alternative. I like having the option to manage and monitor my own health.
