When you know better, you do better. Physical exfoliants are rough on the skin and can cause little tears in the skin, leading to more problems with skin. But these Paula’s Choice exfoliators are chemical exfoliators, which means they help get rid of the old layer of skin with chemicals in the liquid as opposed to a larger rough item. These are absolutely amazing for seeing a change in skin. The problem is, too many people think these need to be a daily part of skincare. Do not use these daily! 2-3 times a week, at night, is perfect. They will exfoliate deep in your pores and they will exfoliate the outer layer as well. It’s a miracle combination. This set is perfect for introducing yourself to the brand and the product to see how well your skin reacts.

I have used various Paula’s Choice products for years, but surprisingly had never used either one of these two, even though they are some of the brand’s bestsellers. I already use so many different serums and exfoliants so I was trying to figure out how best to incorporate these into my routine. It is recommended to cleanse, tone, then use either the AHA OR the BHA in the morning and then alternate with the other at night…once you get used to the product and are sure your skin can tolerate it. I went right into it because my skin is used to these kinds of products and after pouring a little onto my favorite cotton squares, I saw immediate improvement in texture, smoothness, brightness without any irritation to my dry, sensitive skin. These are both excellent, top-notch exfoliants and I like the idea of alternating morning and night between the two.
Mandelic acid is derived from bitter almonds and most dermatologists say it is safe for people with sensitivities to nuts, but please use caution and do a patch test first just to be sure. This is a small little set, tiny travel sized bottles, but they should last at least a couple of weeks I hope. These are both great products that are absolutely worth trying because they really do smooth out and brighten up the skin.

This exfoliation kit by Paula’s choice is travel-sized but I think it is also suitable for beginners who want to test out their chemical exfoliants without committing to a full-sized bottle. As someone with really sensitive skin and dry skin, I had to slowly build up my tolerance to using these chemical exfoliants. Instead of every other day, I would wait 2 days in between each usage. It does sting my face a little bit when I apply it so I try not to apply it too often until my face starts getting more used to it. I plan on using this every other day once my skin doesn’t have that stinging sensation anymore. Since using this, I have noticed an improvement in my clogged pores and even lightened some of my acne scars! I am impressed by this product and will continue to use it. I do wish that they came out with less concentrated products that are more beginner-friendly.

Many people have heard the wonders about chemical exfoliants but many people are hesitant to try them since a reputable brand such as Paula’s Choice can run you from 50 to 100 dollars for a full size bottle which is honestly a huge investment if you’ve never tried chemical exfoliation before. This is a great trial product that allows you to test the product without full commitment. For me this product does wonders for my skin and does a great job at exfoliating, however I have been using chemical exfoliation for awhile so my skin has adjusted to it. I think many people that try this product should patch this product prior to using it on their face to see if they’re sensitive to it first or only using a little and applying it.

my skin is super sensitive and this product was good the first 3 or 4 days. after that my skin was so read and itchy. Even after i suspend the product my skin took a few days to recuperate. I would not recommended for sensitive skin.

This is a nice little kit that includes both BHA and AHA exfoliants in compact bottles. Paula’s Choice makes quality products at an affordable price and this fits well with their other products. After a week I’ve seen minimal change but have noticed a slight difference in the blackheads around my nose. If you have sensitive skin use sparingly as this has salicylic acid. It is recommended to use every other day to start off to acclimate your skin. It’s often hard for me to use products in the morning so I’ve been using one every other night (may be the reason for only slight improvement after a week). I like that the bottles only allow a little bit to come out at once so you are not wasting product.
