Kion Lean brand is a dietary supplement for weight management and metabolic wellness.
It contains natural ingredients like Wild Bitter Melon Fruit Extract, InnoSlim (Astragalus membranaceus Root Extract and Panax notoginseng Root Extract), Vegetarian Capsule, Rice Concentrate, and Tapioca Maltodextrin.
It comes in a melon flavor and is sold in a bottle of 60 capsules.
The product is purported to support metabolic wellness, assist in weight management, and promote a healthy metabolism, even after carb-heavy meals. Kion is a small business brand.
The medium-sized capsules were easy to swallow and have no flavor or scent. No aftertaste.
The black plastic bottle was coded for recycling as type 1 resin.
The twist-off cap was easy to operate as it is not child resistant. It was sealed with a shrink wrapping for freshness and tampering evidence.
All of the ingredients are posted in searchable format on the product page.
Manufactured for and distributed by a US-based small business.
A premium value when offered at about $65 at the time of our review.
For the 60-capsule bottle, at a suggested serving of two capsules per day, that’s 30 servings at a cost of about $2.17 each.

So, this is a 30-day supply of a supplement that combines wild bitter melon (roughly 1 g of it), with a combination of astragalus and panax notoginseng (which, as I learned, is not ginseng).
Bitter melon has a lot of literature behind it, some of it pointing to helping to regulate blood sugar due to an ingredient that is similar to insulin. Panax notoginseng – it may help with blood flow by relaxing blood vessels. And my personal favorite of the three, astragalus, is assumed to help reduce inflammation.
Given that the product description on Amazon is pretty minimal, it helps to go over to the Kion website to read a bit more about this product. Based on the description there, the intended audience seems to be people that are on a low-carbish regime, that have the occasional “cheat” or carb-load meal – the logic would be to get the bitter melon to help the body deal with the carbs and avoid a blood sugar spike. So it could, in theory, assist with weight loss in the context of a general low-carb diet by moderating the blood sugar spike. Think of it as a get-out-of-jail card… eat the carbs, no crash. I can say that I see the logic if that “cheat” meal is not a daily occurrence.
That being said, my personal reason for trying this one out was that I had my fasting blood sugar creeping up a bit (to put things in perspective, “creeping up” for my body means “in the 90s”). After a week of taking it (and watching what I eat, and exercising regularly) it seems to have dropped a bit. Maybe it helped, maybe coincidence. No impressive weight loss results yet, but then I wasn’t expecting any in a week.
I think I am going to use it as it seems to be implied on the Kion website: keep the rest of the bottle as my “secret weapon” before going out for dinner with friends.
As a side note, the product is manufactured *for* and distributed by Kion, with no word as to where it is manufactured or any sort of GMP stamp on the bottle. Granted, Kion is a well-respected company, but still – for the price of 30 servings, some third party testing would have been warranted.

I have been taking this supplement for over a year. I primarily take it if I have a vacation planned, summer, and/or photoshoot coming up. This is effective shedding pounds, but you must be vigilante in your diet and workout regime! I recommend this if you have 60+ days before your engagement.

I wore a continuous glucose monitor for a month and saw no difference in glucose spikes when taking these with meals vs. when eating without. I tried the exact same meal at the same time of day with an without to test efficacy. Save your money, this product is useless!

This is a product that to me makes for a great introduction to traditional Chinese medicines uses for weight loss and other things.
It has two ingredients: astralagus and bitter melon. Astragalus (Astragalus membranaceus) has been used in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) for thousands of years for a whole bunch of things. Not much research pops up on the internet to substantiate its effectiveness, but one common reason for using it (among many) is to lower blood sugar levels. The suggested dosage rate on this product’s label, 500 mg a day, may be a good bit lower than some of the suggestions on the internet – but there is no official recommended dosage for Astragalus.
Bitter melon is also used in TCM – but in this case, it is a vegetable that you can grow and eat — it looks like a cross between a cucumber and a porcupine with a short haircut. It looks really cool in the garden and has pretty yellow flowers. It is high in vitamins A and C and other nutrients and is also used to reduce blood sugar. It is thought to promote the secretion of insulin and to have cancer-fighting properties. In this case, the dosage level (2 grams per day) may be equivalent to the dosage used in some of the limited research on bitter melon. You could address this by growing and eating the stuff.
To me, the combination of these two extracts make sense for the purpose for which it is being sold here. I would just suggest doing your own research (there are a bunch of YouTube videos that are informative and also help with sleep support), especially on dosage levels, for this product, because you’re not likely to take this stuff based solely on the information on Amazon.
