I typically don’t give much credit to electrolyte drinks, as they just seem like flavored water to me, however this product definitely changed my mind. I’ve tried the popular Liquid I.V. brand before, but the flavors and minerals in these are way better. The Acai Berry flavor tastes like an actual juice… so good. My only gripe is that the sachets within the box use a super small font for the flavor name. The colors are distinct as well, which helps, but I always like to read the actual flavor I want to use, and it can take a minute to find where it is written as it is so small.

Product tastes great until you get to the bottom. There’s always sediment no matter how much I shake it up.

My husband and I have tried several different Electrolyte drink mixes, and this brand checks all the boxes. Not too salty. Good balance of minerals. Good taste. And all at a good price point. I like every flavor I’ve tried but use lemonade the most. I tried to switch to Re-Lyte and switched back. Re-Lyte was way too salty (I understand the importance of salt) and too expensive.

This will produce water with a discrete orange taste. Doubling powder quantity does not change the taste that much. I think I am not fully satisfied with the product because of my expectations : I wanted something more like Gatorade G2 orange. I got water, with an orange aftertaste.
And for many people, that is what they want.

As I went online to reorder another electrolyte replacement powder that I have been using for a few years now, I came across the KEY NUTRIENTS electrolyte replacement powder. As I compared the ingredients to what I had been using before, I found out that ALL of the electrolyte, vitamins & minerals were in higher amounts AND at a much cheaper price [currently, today, 2/24/21 though, the powder I was using before did drop the price to be more comparable with the KEY NUTRIENTS however the advantage that I see is the amounts of the electrolytes, vitamins & minerals-a big advantage for me] to be still for a 90 serving container. I was also impressed with not only the electrolyte ingredients but also the “other” ingredients that go into the mix as well. It is sweetened with stevia leaf extract and spirulina (for the BLUE RASPBERRY flavor) & beet root & beta-carotene (for the CHERRY-POM) gives it the color and as much of a label reader as I am for everything, I was more than willing to give this KEY NUTRIENTS brand a try.
I ordered two containers the flavors being BLUE RASPBERRY & CHERRY POM(egranate). Today, 2/24/21 I decided to mix both flavors for my bicycling ride this morning. The attached picture show the CHERRY-POM flavor (red water bottle) & the BLUE RASPBERRY flavor (tinge of blue color water bottle). Mix 1 scoop (provided) into 16 oz of liquid (the bottles in the picture are 16.9oz size but I filled them only up to the neck of the bottle & I already drank some out of each bottle for a taste test). What do I think about the taste?
For the BLUE RASPBERRY: First off, I like the tinge of blue color of the powder and with my first sip I first tasted a tartness followed immediately with a sweetness and I could even recognize the flavor being “berryish” Both the tartness and the sweetness were not overwhelming but nicely balanced. Personally, if a drink were to lean one way or another, I would prefer a tartness over a sickening sweetness but like I said, my taste testing of this one was very balanced-not too tart and not too sweet with the sweetness occurring about a second or two after the initial tartness. If you prefer something with an overly sweet taste then mixing this powder with juice or flavored drink would probably suit you. I found this drink to be refreshing and definitely something that I could drink throughout the day if needed.
For the CHERRY-POM flavor: a nice light cherry red color and the first thing I noticed, after the color, was the smoothness of the drink. Not gritty or anything of that nature but the best way I could describe it would be “smooth”. The taste sensation is a nice sweetness followed closely with a nice cherry taste! Here again, not overly sweet but just enough so that there wasn’t even a tartness on this one -not sure if there should be anyway (perhaps the pomegranate would tend to give a tartness?) But in any case it was just sweet enough for me without an excessive sweetness; and like I said, I definitely recognized the cherry taste, not overwhelming, but noticeable. I’m not sure if I was able to discern the pomegranate component but definitely the cherry. Perhaps somebody else may be able to distinguish the pomegranate more than me.
Now, the BLUE RASPBERRY has 6 electrolytes and 11 vitamins & minerals. The CHERRY-POM has 6 electrolytes and 12 vitamins and minerals. The extra vitamin is the Riboflavin that the BLUE RASPBERRY doesn’t have, for whatever reason I don’t know but shouldn’t really make a difference that it doesn’t have it.
In conclusion, I’m very impressed thus far with the look, how easy it is too mix [note: about 40 minutes after mixing and refrigerating, I wanted to take a look at the mixture. I looked at both water bottles, as what is in the picture, and I noticed very fine, I guess one could say, granules, floating around as I swirled the bottles. It doesn’t affect the “smoothness” of the drink and it still doesn’t give it a “grainy” taste but I would suspect that something that has upwards of 20 different ingredients that perhaps a vitamin or mineral or one that is chelated? There are two ingredients that are chelated, selenium & chromium. My guess is , that perhaps a chelation might not necessarily go completely in solution or one of the other vitamins or minerals that may not be so absorbable in the mix but will breakdown better once it’s in the body? In any case, I am not concerned about it as I’ve reviewed every ingredient and approve of the ingredients that are in these powders.]
Now the test of actually drinking them during my ride. I suspect that they will do what they are supposed to be doing because of the higher amounts than my previous powder brand had. I could think it would only be better. If I notice a significant change as far as energy level and other measurable changes in my workout as compared to my former brand of powder then I will edit this review.
But for now, I’m very impressed and happy to have found this brand of electrolyte replacement powder!

WHAT I PURCHASED: Key Nutrients, Electrolyte Recovery Plus, Orange flavor.
WHAT I USE IT FOR: Electrolyte replacement (ER) for intense, high elevation gain hiking that causes a great amount of sweating and electrolyte loss. Hikes typically range from between 6 to 11 miles in length, and between 3,000 to 4,000 feet elevation gain.
HOW I USE IT: One scoop/serving per hike, normally intended to be combined with 16 ounces of water, but I combine it with 28 ounces of water.
OVERALL REVIEW:
I had been using 1 PowerAde (zero sugar) bottled sports drink per hike for a while (plus regular water and food like bananas, energy bars, etc.) I was stocking up on PowerAde when it went on sale for about $0.70 per 28oz bottle. It was easy to pack/use and the flavor was good, but I wasn’t happy with the minimal ER ingredients (similar to Gatorade). Also, the price has been going up in the last couple months (inflation!) PowerAde also only has a couple flavors that don’t have various color dyes (e.g., Yellow #5, etc.)
I researched a lot of different ER products. The only ones that seems cost effective were powdered (versus bottled liquid). Of those I narrowed down to a few that were both cost effective (per serving) and had a good balance of ER ingredients. This product by Key Nutrients had the best over all balance. In fact it seems to be among the highest in electrolytes and one of the lowest in price. The cost per serving is around $0.35. That’s about half of the lowest PowerAde sale price I found, and yet the ER ingredient levels are far superior in this Key Nutrients product.
When hiking using this ER drink I don’t seem to get as thirsty as fast, and more importantly I’m a bit less sore and for less time after hikes. This seems to indicate it is indeed working better as electrolyte replacement than PowerAde.
FLAVOR REVIEW:
The orange flavor tastes somewhat like Tang, as other reviewers have mentioned. It’s not bad, but also not great, which is part of the reason that I use more water to dilute it. I’m in it for the electrolytes not the flavor. That being said if it tasted awful like some reviewers say I wouldn’t drink it. It takes o.k., which works for me. Other reviewers have noted that it doesn’t mix completely and a little of it settles to the bottom, which is true. However, that hasn’t been an issue for me at all since all I do is simply shake the bottle a little before taking a drink and it mixes back up fine. I look forward to trying another flavor or 2 in the future, perhaps pink lemonade and raspberry.
BOTTOM LINE – HIGHLY RECOMMENED: This is the best value I’ve found for ER combined with low cost. Also, I bought another container of the orange flavor today because Amazon has it on-sale for $4.50 off (so now only about $0.30/serving).
RECOMMENDATION TO KEY NUTRIENTS COMPANY: Bring back the trial/sample option on your website or on Amazon. It would be great to try all the flavors before buying the full-size container and potentially having to hassle with a return. I’m willing to pay a fair price for a sample pack, as I’m sure are many others.

I really like this product. It’s not loaded with sugar or crappy fillers. It does have a slight vitamin taste but I like it. I add plenty of ice and I find it refreshing and also reassuring that I’m getting some benefits as well. My son likes the lemon lime better. I’m slowly trying the other flavors to find a favorite. It’s not cheap but the container has 90 servings so it lasts a while and it’s less expensive than bottled drinks.

I did not love the taste of these electrolyte packets however I am sure they will come in handy when sick or playing sports in the heat. Not a great aftertaste but hoping I get used to it and it grows on me. My husband was not a fan as well.
