I’m super picky when it comes to my electrolyte drinks. The last thing I ever want while working out or post-exercise is sugary, syrupy artificial-tasting “sports drink.” That’s the category most readily-available sports drinks fall into. Since Clif stopped making their electrolyte shots back in 2000-who-knows, I’ve been trying to find something comparable. It was light, tasty, helpful for rehydrating, and didn’t leave my mouth or my water bottle coated in a layer of slime.
I’d been using Nuun tablets for a couple of years on and off. I generally couldn’t justify the price, and the flavor left a *lot* to be desired. Exercising in the desert heat, though, I needed something, so I used them sparingly and kept searching for better options. Eventually, I found this stuff.
So far, the only drawbacks I’ve noticed are:
1) The powder definitely doesn’t dissolve all the way, and you have to swirl your bottle before you drink (and usually sip a little sand at the end of the bottle)
2) It turns your pee fluorescent yellow. Not, like, glow stick yellow, but definitely more neon than it ought to be.
Neither of those cons are enough to dissuade me from drinking the stuff: It’s perfect at half-concentration (1 scoop per 32 ounce bottle), it’s not sickeningly sweet (though it’s close), and it doesn’t seem to make my bottle all nasty. This powder is also pretty affordable as far as non-Gatorade etc. sports beverages go. I drink one or two bottles of water with this in it after a workout and then go back to regular water. Coming from someone who is perpetually dehydrated, I’d say this electrolyte seems to really help.

In summary:
– Good flavor
– Good price
– Not sickly sweet (I recommend going half strength)
– Works well
– A little sandy/doesn’t dissolve well
– Gives you bright yellow pee (but doesn’t seem to change anything else about it)
Next time, I think I’m going to try their raspberry flavor to see if that fixes the, uh, color running problem. All in all, I do recommend it!

tl;dr I like the product. A lot. It is is the most cost effective electrolyte powder that I’ve found. It tastes a little bit like the “smell” of a multivitamin – not amazing, but tolerable. I will be buying it again.
How I use it:
Yes, I’m using it “wrong.” I use TWO scoops in a 500ml bottle (I also add 6000mg of beta alanine for pre-workout hydration). At 45 servings per can, this is still a better deal than all the other hydration mixes I’ve seen. I drink one 16 ounce bottle before/during working out and one 16 ounce bottle post-workout. I also drink plain water along the way. The “concentrated” flavor I achieve with a double scoop is also more pleasant to me. I also want to get the sodium up to 200mg. I may experiment with a single scoop before and a double after because four scoops gets me up to 400mg of magnesium (near the daily recommended intake).
Results:
I’ve noticed a marked difference when I use an electrolyte drink immediately follow a workout. I did a workout and hydrated with just plain water a couple of weeks ago – I was cooked! After I took a shower I had a 2 hour nap! Talk about old-folks-home-core. For my last few workouts I’ve had an electrolyte drink (and food) immediately post-workout. I am able to be fully functional for the rest of the day without caffeine or other energy boosters.
Considerations:
Value/Cost per serving is great
Taste is 6/10. It tastes strongly of multivitamin. Other reviews say it tastes fine, so maybe you’ll like it too…
Sugar free. It uses Stevia extract for sweetness. Not good or bad, just FYI. I wouldn’t mind some extra carbs, but I just eat them instead.
Bottom line:
I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this to a friend. I *would* let them taste test it first, though.

I work night shifts and tend to feel dehydrated on them. This helps and I think is good value for money compared to the tablets. The taste is kind of bitter but in a pleasant way.
Nobody –
Hello everyone.
During my water fasting journey, I needed something to help deliver some electrolytes. Apart from taking supplement pills, I was searching for a more enjoyable method, and happened upon this product online. So after reading mixed reviews throwing this under the bus, neutral attitudes, and heavenly praise, I decided whatever… and bought two tubs to give it a go.
They arrived two weeks faster than the estimated delivery date of between July 1-10th, which was incredible, and I reside in Canada, so it was even more surprising given the pandemic delays. Really impressed with shipping.
I had seen some photos of tubs only filled half way, so I was prepared for the possibility that there may have been a discrepancy in product flow at the time of filling. I get that there isn’t an endless feed of powder as the tubs roll by, and that machines can possibly run out mid fill. However, the tub I opened was filled to 75% of the container capacity, so I am thankful for receiving a complete product.
After mixing the proper serving of powder to the correct quantity of water, and stirring for about 30 seconds, I can say that I am pleased with the taste. Based on my pallet, I liken the taste to that of lemonade as the product indicates, but it is a watered down flavor that isnt overpowering in sweetness, or sour. It is pleasantly tart and I enjoy that as opposed to very sweet when working out, or running and needing to hydrate on the fly. I appreciate the as close to water taste it provides, with a hint of flavor that helps. Of course depending on what you want to do, you can add more scoops and stevia up to make it sweeter to your liking, but personally I enjoy it as is.
People have said it tastes like chemicals or medicine or whatever else which makes absolutely no sense if proper measurements of water is used with the 1 scoop serving. Clearly they’ve either used too much, or can’t read/follow directions.
Some have noted that not all of the powder disolves, and there are granules at the bottom afterwards. I read someone saying that it’s the calcium that is left over because it isn’t water soluble, so I buy that reasoning. I don’t have the inclination to send samples off to a lab for analysis, nor the funds, so I accept it as calcium, and have no problem adding a little more water at the end to swish it around and drink it down. Or, as I approach the last bit to swish it in a circular motion, and consciously send as much of it into motion, to centrifuge it into my mouth for consumption.
If you want to go another way, without needing to drink all of the water, just take the small scoop, and empty into your mouth, and drink it down with some water. You see those “hardcore” roid-ragers do with their pre-workouts in the gym lol, so for something like electrolyte, it would probably be just as easy without the need to drink 16oz of water.
I have nothing else to really say, aside from wishing there was another flavor in stock at the time of purchase, so I could try another but that is minor. I think, the product tastes good, quenches thirst well, and provides a hit of electrolytes to keep you going per serving. At 90 servings per container, you really can’t go wrong.
Happy hydrating everyone!

This is my second tub and I don’t think I can imagine doing without it ever again. I literally felt the difference in my energy and my focus the day I started taking this. I have tried a few ‘healthy’, sugar free powders in the past but this one is hands down the best I have ever tried. The extra vitamins & minerals is what I believe make the biggest difference.. I can just feel my body absorbing them so much more efficiently then taking a tablet or capsule. The effects, for me, are instant. I pop one scoop in my 1lt water bottle and sip on it whilst I’m at the gym for an extra boost whilst resistance training or straight after a sweaty cardio session to replenish lost electrolytes. It has made a huge difference to my workouts, my energy, my resilience, my springiness and my recovery. I feel the boost even more on the days that I’m needing more energy for simple everday tasks. I love the lemon flavour. You don’t taste anything else but lemon slice.. yum! It may be a tad pricey compared to some other great powders out there but for me nothing compares so far, and besides, one scoop a day lasts me 3 months! Totally worth it and beyond comparison.

I took it twice for only for one day and I went to the emergency room as I was throwing up and couldn’t eat/drink anything with a pain in my whole body and fever. I didn’t think it was from the electrolytes but my husband tried a couple of sips and he got a very bad stomachache. We gave it to a friend to try it and he got the same symptoms. Horrible product and it has a terrible metal taste.
