It’s over-the-counter Abreva, in a tube that seems a little more like lip balm than medication for my gross diseased lip.
I’ve been self-conscious about my cold sores for basically forever. I love this stuff if only for the fact that nobody is going to think twice or question me about the tube in my bag.

I ordered this as I am prone to cold sores. Within a week of receiving this I got a cold sore. Unfortunately I was not impressed with this as I started using immediately and it did not seem to help at all. I ended up going back to my tried and true over the counter medication. Another negative about this cream is that it goes on white and you really need to rub it in. I like my brand as it goes on clear.

I have tried other OTC for cold sores, with the main ingredient being the same as Abreva. The other one worked decently well, but this one worked even better! Better than Abreva, even! I have used Abreva for decades at this point, and, while the ingredients are identical, I wonder if the amounts are different? Maybe this was just fresher, or I just lucked out. We are currently dealing with the winter ick, and any time I have a f e v e r, a sore is guaranteed to make an appearance. I didn’t get just one, but two. But, of course. Never felt the tingle. The cream itself looks identical; goes on white and quickly absorbs in (I apply with a cotton swab). The bottom lip one stayed one teeny bump, and the top one stayed as five teeny bumps. Normally, it is very noticeable when I have one. Not this time! I’ll order again, although it is a bit pricier than the name brand.

First, I had to learn the difference between a cold and a canker sore. A cold sore is typically caused by a virus while canker sores may have a variety of causes including injury, stress, or vitamin deficiency. Canker sores are found only on the soft tissues inside the mouth like your gums, tongue, and inner cheeks. Cold sores are only found on outside skin mostly around the lips.
This product uses the same ingredient called Docosanol which is found in other OTC medications. I believe that it will have the same effectiveness. That being the case, then I might suggest shopping around for the best price.

It is cold sore cream. Works about as good as any other over the counter option out there.
This is a clone of Abreva, but not a discounted version. This stuff runs about 50% more than Abreva when you buy the original in a two pack. At that price, I would buy the real thing.
Would buy again if the price is right, otherwise stick to the original recipe.

I got this to be prepared for an outbreak. I haven’t had to use it yet but is your basic cold sore treatment. It’s just like most gels. The tube is tiny and you can carry it with you. I may up date this when I have to actually use it. I can’t say if it tingles, or stings at this point like some other ointments do.

The holidays are upon us so I can be sure I will have a cold sore by Christmas Eve from the stress. I feel ready to fight back as soon as I feel the slightest twinge. I don’t doubt the effectiveness of this cream since it contains the same ingredients that I have been using for years. It feels and smells the same so I’m sure it will provide the same level of pain relief. It’s about the same price I already pay for my cold sore / fever sore ointment. It feels good to be prepared.
