Its hard to quantify without a bone density test, but started taking this after a surgery where I needed bone to heal. I seemed to recover pretty fast, so I’ve kept taking it to help maintain my bone health.

I switched to Bone Up on the advice of the “Bone Lady” who works with my primary doctor. I had been using the Grow Bone System but found it a) increasingly difficult to find it (out of stock everywhere) and b) a hassle to remember to take the evening pills before dinner. So far, this is working well. The pills are large.

I used to buy the regular Bone-Up formula, and this is the first time I have tried this Ultra version.
It builds on the old Bone-up formula in ways that make it better. It has all the things the original had plus Glucosamine, MSM, curcumin & SDG flax lignans. These have all been proven to help in building stronger bone.
I take this formula because I have rather advanced osteoporosis due to and illness and medications I had to take for it for many years. Now that I am finally better I am trying to maintain and rebuild bone mass.
Jarrow is a great company that I have come to have confidence in over time so I love using their products. They are always on top of any improvements that need to be made. With Ultra Bone-up love that I can get many of the things. I need by taking one tablet rather than the many I was taking before to do the same job. When you already take a lot of meds and supplements lessening the amount is a big deal.
I have been using Jarrow bone supplements for around five years now and I wouldn’t switch. I’m glad they have this new formula and I intend to keep using it.

With the balanced formulation of Ca, D-3 and Magnesium, I save money and feel assured that I am receiving all 3 substances in proper balance- so important! Yes, the pills are somewhat large. But, I swallow them with a bite of food and no problem. Good product, good company. I’ve been taking them, 6 per day, for 3 months now. I always research thoroughly before ordering. And, I am happy with the quality of these. As an added benefit, they also contain MSM and Glucosamine HCl(good for arthritis prevention), Resveratol (powerful antioxidant), Curcumin, Flaxseed extract, Vit. C, Vit. K-2, Zinc, Copper, Manganese, Potassium and Boron. It is wheat, peanut, dairy, egg, shellfish, and gluten free but does contain traces of Soy. Caveat- if you are taking this supplement for the Glucosamine, you can find other products (like the one from Nutramaxx) that have higher levels of it and supply a much more usable form. I’ve used 3 240 count bottles of Ultra now. But, at half the price, I think I’ll start ordering the regular Bone up and spend the money saved on the Nutramaxx product as the Ultra doesn’t supply high enough levels of Glucosamine and MSM and doesn’t have Chondroitan Sulfate at all.
Update: I have now switched to another product that has a combination of different forms of Calcium (which is the main reason I’ve been taking this product). Bone Up has Ca Carbonate, which is the cheapest and perhaps least absorbable form of Ca. It must also be consumed with a meal. Other forms of Ca are difficult to find from a reputable lab, though. I would just like to hedge my bet by taking a combo of forms.

You have to take 6 tablets a day…… but that is not unusual for calcium.

Seems to make my nails grow faster and thicker. I’ve heard good things about Boron and Vitamin K7. I think the synergistic nature of all the ingredients really makes it an effective product.

I have osteopenia, (pre osteoporosis) and so I’ve done a lot of research and take calcium every day to try to increase my bone mass as much as possible. This is my favorite product and my bone density scans have improved the two years I’ve been using bone up. I like that is has the other vitamins needed for bone health and calcium absorption in one pill so I don’t have to take several products. Also it’s form of highly absorbable calcium (calcium carbonate is the main ingredient in many calcium products, but it is a waste of your money as your body can not absorb it in the calcium carbonate form).
Also good for muscle cramps. If I miss a few days of taking this product, I start to get muscle cramps again.
I went to trying the ultra cause I have a knee replacement that aches and the added glucosomine and joint care does seem to reduce the stiffness and the pain noticably, but it’s not a cure. I’ll continue to stick to the ultra because I like that I don’t have to take two separate products.
The downside is if you have trouble swallowing, a full dosage is 6 a day (but not all at once, taking 6 at once is also going to be a waste of money since your body can’t absorb that much at once). Also, these are not capsules like the regular bone up and a little harder to swallow
