I purchased to to help with my gut health. To my understanding you need to take this supplement for a few weeks then stop for a few. It’s a great value for your money! Worth every penny to assist in digestion.

I purchased this to treat an H. Pylori infection. My symptoms were “EXCESSIVE” (I cannot emphasize that word enough) burping, searing pain in the upper abdomen, nausea, sinus problems (never before had in my life) and an overall feeling of being VERY unwell. Acid reflux was NOT a symptom for me although I know it is for many. After someone suggested I might have H. Pylori, I began doing research. I was not able to be tested for the bacteria because I had just come off of a round of antibiotics (first time in 18 years) for a horrible sinus infection (first one ever). The test would have thrown a false negative because of the antibiotics, you’re supposed to wait a month after taking them. Since there was no way in H*** I was going the conventional route for the H. Pylori treatment I decided to go ahead and start the Mastic Gum. There was also no way in H*** I was going to wait a month to be tested before doing anything, with the symptoms already being as bad as they were. I went with my instinct and started my own protocol. Within 3 days the searing pain in my upper abdomen was completely gone and I was beginning to feel better. Over the course of the next three weeks I continued to improve and at this time all symptoms are gone. I am continuing with my protocol for a while longer because I’m not taking any chances on not getting it all. After doing the research, this is what I did with the Mastic Gum. Week 1 – 1000 mg. divided into two dosages on an empty stomach, Week 2 – 2000 mg. divided into two dosages on an empty stomach, Week 3 – 3000 mg. divided into three dosages, morning, afternoon and evening, on an empty stomach. In addition to the Mastic gum I also took NAC (N-Acetyl L-Cysteine) because a friend discovered the following article…
Gastritis, Ulcers, Cancer, and Helicobacter pylori
Helicobacter pylori is a bacterium that colonizes various regions of the stomach and upper part of the small intestine. H. pylori infection produces major oxidative stress on tissues already vulnerable to extremes of pH and other chemical challenges, and the resulting inflammation produces pain and promotes development of gastric and esophageal cancers.19 NAC is an obvious candidate for fighting H. pylori infections, both because of its powerful ability to interfere with the oxidant-inflammation connection, and also because of its potential to break down some of the gastric mucous layer beneath which the organism hides.72
NAC fights H. pylori in at least two ways. It markedly inhibits growth of H. pylori both in culture dishes and in live mice, helping to reduce the total load of organisms present.72 But NAC also powerfully regulates gene expression in stomach lining cells, reducing hydrogen peroxide production induced by H. pylori, and decreasing activation of NF-kB and subsequent release of inflammatory cytokines.19,73 In human trials NAC improves eradication rates of H. pylori produced by standard treatment with antacids and antibiotics, when given at doses of 1,200 mg per day.74,75
People who have gastritis or gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) may be infected with H. pylori and may benefit from supplementation with 1,200 mg per day of NAC, especially during co-treatment with drugs to eradicate the organism.
I’m also drinking Matula Tea which is an herbal blend proven to eradicate H. Pylori as well as other parasites one might have. It’s very expensive but comes with a money back guarantee (you do have to get tested after you finish the treatment) if you still test positive for the bacteria. It’s very mild, tastes like a green tea. I just started the tea two days ago, you drink the tea twice daily for 30 days. This may be overkill, but as badly as I’ve felt for the past several weeks, I’m taking NO chances! This is what I’ve done and has worked great for me, I’ve completely followed my instincts through all my choices here. Best of health to ALL!

I took one capsule on an empty stomach and had stomach pain and discomfort the whole day. I had to take pantoprazole twice the same day to get my stomach burning under control. The next day my stool turned red, and the pain persisted for a few days. I would not recommend this product without consulting a doctor first.

I have never actually been diagnosed with H Pylori but have been tested for it and the results always come back negative. Finally I was diagnosed with Functional Dyspepsia (another word for ulcer w/o bacteria results) and IBS. I definetly think I have more IBS symptoms than ulcer like but it is hard to tell. First, my acid reflux has improved by 50%. I have NP with that considering that is the least of my stomach issues. I suffer from severe abdominal pain flare ups. I cant even pinpoint what causes it but do notice spicy foods and the long list of foods I should avoid but that is not always the case. My pain is more like horrible gas pain that I can not even move or sleep. I have even gone to the ER and with only the explaination of IBS or gastaritis/ the generic diagnosis.
In the last year it has gone from every other month or six month flare ups to once or twice a month. I had heard about Mastic Gum for a long time now and decided to try it. It has only been two months but I can’t believe that I have not had a flare up that has me curled up in a ball in pain. My digestion feels so much better. I hope that writing this review does not curse me. Jarrow to me is by far one the best distributors for vitamins and minerals in my experience and if my healing journey with their Mastic Gum continues, then I will make this as a long term supplement that my aching belly needs so often

OMG! This stuff works! It all started with “the burps,” which progressed over the weeks to cramping pain, then sharp pain. The pain would kick in about 3:30 a.m. and keep me up the rest of the night. I never felt any “burning”, just pain, like I swallowed a cactus and like it was spinning around in my lower throat. I went to the doc and was told that I had a “bit of acid reflux” and put on Prilosec, for one week, which did not help. After one week of waking up in the middle of the night, with severe stomach pain, and getting an average of 4 hours of total sleep per night, I ordered this. I took it as soon as it arrived in the mail. I felt a muffled “boosh” in my stomach and had, as another customer mentioned, resin-tasting burps for hours. However, after it all quieted down, I slept through the night! I am by no means cured yet, but I feel a whole lot better. It’s hard to be sane, patient, and nice when one can’t sleep. Before it arrived, I was also taking something called “Amish cure” which is an apple-cider vinegar-ginger-garlic tonic. While it did help, it would wear off in two hours. I really believe the mastic gum helps significantly.
Our mom was diagnosed with ulcers back in the 80’s, before medical science knew that H. pylori causes ulcers. She has been on acid reducers for decades. We don’t smoke, drink, or drink caffeine, but now all the adult children have to take acid reducers. I believe that we are all infected with H. pylori. I don’t want to live on acid reducers for the rest of my life because then I can’t digest my food properly, and stomach acid is the first line of defense for germs that get ingested with food.
I will take this stuff for one month and see what happens.
O.K.! It’s been eight days, and it has definitely helped. I no longer have to take the apple-cider vinegar-garlic-ginger tonic. However, I was still having some mild stomach pain. I looked up more information and saw “zinc carnosine” mentioned as a treatment for ulcers in Japan (http://www.lef.org/protocols/gastrointestinal/digestive-disorders/page-08). I was unable to find any locally, and almost ordered some, however we had some zinc lozenges in the cupboard because of all the colds the kids bring home from school. The zinc in the lozenges is not zinc carnosine, it is zinc gluconate, but it still worked (almost immediately). As of now, I am having no stomach issues. I am still taking the Mastic gum, and zinc lozenges (especially at bedtime.) I also read that people with zinc deficiency are more prone to stomach ulcers. Wow…anyways, If you choose to go this route, be aware that some zinc lozenges also contain Echinacea. If you have autoimmune Lupus, DO NOT take Echinacea. It can cause a very rare, but very serious reaction in the body that can damage the kidneys.
Good Luck everybody, whatever route you choose!
