I get little slivers and splinters from the potting soil I use (and like, unfortunately). The other day I got one in my finger, but it was too small to pull out. I remembered I had purchased this salve. Applied it as directed and it took the inflammation away overnight, making the removal process accessible by the next day. Highly recommend! It smells like tar, feels like a waxy paste, but works wonders!

I had a boil develop on my stomach which was especially bothersome and uncomfortable because it was right at my waistband.
I went to urgent care but they said it was too small and not ready to be lanced yet.
They suggested PRID. I couldn’t find it locally so I ordered it and to try in the meantime, I bought Owell’s Drawing Salve at the local drugstore.
I used Owell’s for 5 days until the PRID was delivered (we live in an area where deliveries take longer).
The Owell’s did nothing at all.
I switched to PRID as soon as it was delivered and within a day, I could see the head beginning to form. 3 days later, the boil started to drain. I changed the bandage twice a day and continued using the PRID for another week till the bandaid no longer showed signs of drainage.
Was it just a matter of timing and the boil would have come to a head using nothing at all because it was time for it to do so anyway? Maybe. All I know is that using nothing didn’t bring it to a head. Using Owell’s didn’t bring it to a head either. 2 days into using PRID and it surfaced and started the draining and the healing process.
Maybe it was coincidence, but I’d say don’t waste your time using other brands that claim to do the same thing.

I bought this first years ago when I was trying to find this stuff my parents/grandparents used to call “Black Salve”. It quickly draws out infection from a wound or sore to clean out accumulation of, let’s say, “infective debris “ to not be gross. Al natural and worth the tiny price.

This product is hard to find even though it has been around for 60 years or more. It works perfectly to draw glass or wood splinters and stickers out of the skin. It seems to help with areas of swelling on the skin too. A must for any medicine cabinet especially if you have children or do lots of gardening.

I’ve used this at the first sign of a boil or ingrown hair and it helps!! If using at the first sign, the boil dissipates overnight or the ingrown hair will pop out. If I use on a boil that’s already bothersome or a bad ingrown hair that’s already been irritating me for a few days it doesn’t help as much. The smell isn’t great, it’s easy to apply but very sticky
