I have been taking probiotics off and on for years to maintain a healthy gut. Lately I’ve been drinking beverages with prebiotic qualities and wanted to try these Prebiotic capsules to augment my diet. Without getting into the potential health benefits, I can review my main criteria for selecting vitamins and nutritional supplements. If you are considering adding prebiotics or probiotics to your diet, I recommend researching your options and consulting with your health professional.
My selection criteria and whether this product meets them are:
1. Are the main ingredients and their amounts clearly identified on the label? YES. There is only one ingredient, which is Inulin derived from Jerusalem Artichoke. A dose of four capsules provides 1000 mg (1 gram). With 120 capsules and the recommended daily dose of 4 capsules the bottle will last for 30 days. I intend to take 2 capsules a day, at 500 mg.
2. Are the directions for taking the capsules clear? YeS in part; the capsules should be taken with at least 8 ounces of water or other liquid. But there is no indication as to whether the dosage can be split over two or more times per day.
3. Is the form of the supplement easy to ingest? YES, the prebiotic is provided in the form of gelatin capsules, which I far prefer to tablets or gummies. The capsules are of a size that is easy to swallow and are odorless and flavorless.
4. Is the manufacturer of the supplement identified? YES, the capsules are made by the Horbaach brand based in Nevada. I prefer supplements that are made by the manufacturer, as these are. A full address and website are given on the label.
5. Is an expiration date shown? YES, the expiration date on the batch I received is February 2027.
Overall, I am confident in these prebiotics and look forward to adding them to my daily routine.
