Who would image that healthy foods like avocado, spinach, strawberries, kombucha, canned fish, etc. could have high levels of histamine in them? Certainly not me, until I read about histamine intolerance. The levels of histamine in these foods don’t bother most people, but for people whose digestive system has been primed to react to histamine by chronic SIBO, MACS, or other digestive disorder, high histamine foods can cause a lot of bloating, discomfort, flushing, etc. Wait, what? Even some Lactobacilli produce histamine? No wonder I can’t take probiotics or drink kombucha anymore!
I’d recommend trying HistaHarmony to anyone who gets headaches from red wine, or feels bloated and ill after eating processed meat, cheese, avocado, tomatoes, spinach, or kimchi.
Diamine oxidase (DAO) doesn’t block histamine receptors the way antihistamines do (that’s why antihistamines have so many side effects). Instead, DAO stays in your digestive tract, breaking down the histamine itself. A few years ago, there was only one company (Umbrellux) selling DAO. Nice that we have choices now! For me, HistaHarmony works as well as Umbrellux DAO, NaturDAO, and Histamine Digest, but at a lower price and without fillers. Don’t be put off by the tiny pill vs. price – this isn’t a case where size matters.
Before DAO, I had gotten to the point that I was reacting to all foods, either nauseous, or crampy, or like my guts were going to explode. Two HistaHarmony before every meal (for me that’s super fresh meats and veggies, low FODMAP, low histamine, no dairy, no grains, no yeast) lets me be OK after eating. I recently tried the Healthy Gut HistaHarmony Delayed Release DAO Histamine Support Enzyme, but unfortunately, it didn’t work well for me. While the concept of histamine support was appealing, I experienced some negative reactions after taking it. It’s possible that my body just didn’t respond well to this supplement.
That said, I appreciate that it may work for others, as everyone’s body is different. If you’re considering it, just be mindful and perhaps consult with a healthcare professional to see if it’s suitable for you.

I bought these because I’m spending $45 a month for these right now and this was on sale. Also because it’s only dao. I don’t know why they feel the need to put all those things in it that I’m probably allergic to like stinging nettle. Do they not get that you are histamine intolerant which makes you not only intolerant of foods but also natural elements like flowers and plants. I can’t ingest any of that. If they give me another coupon to use I’ll buy them again. If not I’ll just buy whatever’s cheap at the moment they only have one or two competitors. All the others have extra ingredients I don’t want.

I am not 100% sure if I am having a reaction due to something else but this is the only new thing I have introduced. The 3 times I have used this, am getting worse histamine reactions after eating than I do with no enzyme (itching, congestion, throat clearing, waking with a headache). I might try this again down the road to test it, but for now I am stopping.

These pills are affordable and they have the same amount of DOA as more expensive brands. They also are very small tablets for those that can’t take big pills.

I take two before a meal and they decrease the histamine responses I get from food! One didn’t quite work as well as two. Will be buying again.

Sadly, supplements like this can take time to show results. In the short term no results. This isn’t too expensive as it is a 2 month supply for an individual but I would be prepared to commit at least six months to see results if any.

I just received this today and excited to give it a try. I have used a similar product in the past with good results. This has more of the enzyme in a smaller pill for less money!
