Upon opening the sealed lid, first thing that jumped out at me was the color of the cotton that is supposed to protect the contents. It is definitely not white (see image of cotton in bowl with the foil). Next thing I noticed is loose powder all over the rim of the lid. I poured all capsules into a bowl expecting to find an empty capsule and maybe one broke open or ruptured – I found none. I opened one capsule and poured it into the bowl to see if the color matched. It does not appear to match. I found one (see image) that appears to have some cuts in the capsule. It is possible one leaked a little because there is a small amount of loose powder in the jar but I’m still not convinced it is from the capsules because the color just does not appear the same. As much as I’d love to take these, I’m erring on the side of caution and not. Hopefully others’ experience is better than mine.

I had to come back to the website to see the full dosage instructions because they put another label over that part of my bottle and it tore the original when I tried to remove the outer one. I had apparently forgotten when I ordered this that the suggested dose is 4 per day. I’m already taking a lot of other supplements and I’d like it better if this was one or two capsules per day. Probably not a big deal for other people that don’t have to take as many pills as I do. I was suggested to try this for nerve issues, I haven’t noticed a difference yet but I’m going to give it some time. It’s a 45 day supply taking 4 capsules a day but when I started out I was only doing two a day in case I had any adverse reactions and have since bumped it up.

These capsules come in a bottle that is well sealed and the expiration is over a year and a half out. They don’t have any off flavors or smells and they work as well as other brands that I have used.

Herbal Secrets St. John’s Wort came in a 180-count bottle with a serving of 2 capsule each. While the label thus lists the servings per container as 90 but will only last one 45 days since one must take 2 capsules twice a day. Each serving contains 700 mg of St. John’s Wort extract.
The capsules had a moderate floral smell indicative of St. John’s Wort and were of a size that made them easy to swallow.
I had had good results in the past with St. John’s Wort and consider them a more mild and safer alternative to prescription products used to treat the same conditions I am not allowed to name.
The only reason I must deduct a star for this brand is due to it not being an actual three-month supply like similar products due to the need to take twice a day. This also results in a consumption of 1400 mg daily, which for most uses seems rather high. Since I have had acceptable results with a lesser amount, I intend to take just the two capsules a day as the 700 mg should be sufficient and will make the product last longer.

This St. Johns Wort is a solid supplement. Capsules are easy enough to swallow, considering their size. I’ve not kept up this regiment long enough to say too much more but I’ve suffered not ill effects from this supplement.

I prefer St. John’s wort in tea form. But these capsules are also good if you don’t have the opportunity to make tea.
