This supplement works and doesn’t taste bad at all. But there aren’t any measurement lines on the dropper, so you kinda have to guess.

This supplement provides 4000 IU of vitamin D per serving, which is roughly four times the recommended dosage for most people. Vitamin D is one of those things that you can overdo, so this is concerning. I like to supplement with vitamin Di in the winter months, but would never take more that 600 IU a day.
I was concerned when I didn’t see any markings on the stopper to indicate a single 1ml serving. However after a bit of experimentation in measuring how much was coming out the stopper, I realized that it is not possible to fill the stopper more than around the half way point which equated to precisely 1 ml. Nothing in the instructions explained this. That being said, I would much prefer to have visual markings on the dropper indicating not only a single ml, but a half and quarter, as I would only need a quarter dose.
The taste is subtle pineapple. I tried adding some to water but due to the oil content, that was not such a good idea as it just floated on the surface. You could add it to food, but I’m not seeing the point and you would have no way to know if you got the full dose. I think just taking it straight up is the way to go.

I bought this as a convenient way to get my vitamin D3, especially since I’m getting older and my bones are popping more. It comes mixed with MCT oil, which is also good. The pineapple flavor is almost non-existent, but it doesn’t taste bad at all.
My issue is that there is no way to determine the dosage. The dropper doesn’t have a line on it for the 1ml dose, and I tried several times and couldn’t get the dropper to fill more than half way. Not sure if half-way is 1ml?? or if the dropper is faulty and should be full. So I’m thinking I might take half a dropper in the morning and one more half filled dropper before bed. The bottle came with a good safety seal and the expiration date is almost two years out from the date received.

If you’re shopping for D3 either your doctor has told you to take it or you’re already aware of its many benefits. Being all natural/organic and made in the USA, Heivy’s D3 liquid supplement appears to be a great choice. Some people find D3 difficult to absorb so a liquid version might be helpful for them. Another plus is that you can add your dose to a drink. These drops are supposed to have a pineapple flavor. I find the pineapple is more in the smell with the taste being a bit oily. The bottle label and the product description differ on the dosage. When this happens I go by the bottle label and it says I’m getting 4,000 IUs per dose (1 ml) which is at the max for daily D3.
My issue with the product is there’s no dose measurement. Just because a supplement is OTC doesn’t mean you don’t have to measure a dose, but this dropper has no marks at all. The photo shows the Heivy bottle and clear dropper on the left; on the right I placed a dropper with a 1 ml dose of a different supplement I take. The dark liquid shows up well against the dropper markings and the 1 ml mark. The droppers are the same size so I hope this will show you that 1 ml is halfway on the dropper. I prefer liquid supplements when they’re available so I know that inadequate dose marks happen more than I like. I always rate the product down one star for this – – I expect to be sure of the dose I take. On all other points, however, it really is a quality product.

Supplements in the U.S. are largely an unregulated industry. The FDA doesn’t test for safety, efficacy, or regulate this market at all. You do not even know whether the supplements contain what they say they contain in the amounts that they claim. In fact, you hear about class action lawsuits against supplement manufacturers all the time because of this. It also doesn’t help that there are actual counterfeits being sold, especially on Amazon, too – I was a victim of this, by the way. So, my rating scheme of supplements are largely based on the following:
1) A star for supplements that are verified made in a certified GMP facility in the U.S.
2) A star for supplements from well established brands with well known presence on the Internet, i.e. a well built website with large Google search results from established companies.
3) A star for being independently lab tested with verified lab results as posted by the manufacturer.
4) Full 5 stars for supplements being tested and or certified by USP, or NSF, or ConsumerLabs for having good purity, and potency to the stated manufacturer labels. Or, if the supplement is also sold via CVS, which require all supplement manufacturers to be verified third party lab tested via USP, NSF, UL, or other verification and standards bodies.
Negative stars for products in some extreme condition may be doled out: damaged products (broken seal, or broken capsules), expired products, products that are rancid (fish oil, etc…), and products that have been shown to not meet quality controls and standards as mentioned in 3). Also, if there are previous FDA warnings issued against the company and products, or pending civil lawsuits for poor products will result in 1 star ratings.
My opinion on how it tastes, if I feel like it works, or what the scientific literature says about the supplement ingredients are irrelevant to the star ratings. It’s really up to your own discretion and research to figure out whether this supplement is worth using based on said research or my own opinions on it. With that said, here’s the rating and review for this supplement.
Other than negative stars, I cannot delve into why this is a 2 star rating, as Amazon Vine keeps flagging my supplement reviews for inane reasons. And, I’m just going to give up on providing any meaningful review on supplements because of this. You will just need to look at what I posted above, look at my star rating, and figure it out yourself. As always, do your own Due Diligence when shopping for any product, but especially health and sports supplements.

Although there is no indication regarding the dosage on the provided dropper, I just do about “one squeeze” if it, and feel the benefits of having more vitamin D- something most of us don’t get enough of naturally anymore. The flavor is fine, it doesn’t bother me any but isn’t an amazing flavor either
