    I received this product with the top off but the safety seal on the bottle top intact. The cap had a safety seal but it only covered the cap and didn’t extend to the bottle so as you see in my photo, it was off.

    I have taken these two nights now about 30-45 minutes before bedtime. I have noticed that I drop off to sleep within an hour. Without these it can take me 3 or even 4 hours to finally fall asleep.

    I also didn’t have any side effects so far….so I probably won’t. I did an internet search before I ordered these and it seems a lot of folks do have GI distress or headaches – and a lot of folks do not. That is true of darn near everything I guess.

    So far I am pleased with these. I wish they would make a change in whatever machine puts the safety seal on these.

    Like a lot of people I have been bounding around in between different supplements, testing which ones work best in concert with me to help lower my stress levels, improve my brain function and help my memory (roughly in that order).

    With this one, however — I am on serotonergic medications, so I do not use this as a daily supplement. Though I haven’t ever gotten serotonin syndrome from anything, I did not want to start now, and at 1000mg this is a pretty high dose (if accurate). I will use 1/2 to 1 to help me fall asleep, and I have woken up with my face planted into my Kindle, which can count as the supplement being effective.

    With a lot of these sorts of supplements, though they can be defined as gras (generally regarded as safe) it’s important to titrate up and only uses the lowest functioning dose. This is going to be different for different people. If possible consult with your family doctor, or a pharmacist in regards to this supplement to see if it will work for you.

    I have tried a few brands of tryptophan I used to buy the known highest quality one and this one IMO is equal to that. possibly better because I could feel the effects right away. very bioavailable. no side effects or after effects. I have post viral brain injuries and this supplement is a musthave for me for healing and mood purposes. also they are gummies and diabetic safe which is great bc I am on a prediabetic diet now and even 1-2 grams of sugar negatively affects me. the taste is really good and its orange flavor. don’t let the simple packaging fool you this is a high quality and very effective supplement. I love these so much relief lol, would definitely recommend and buy again.

    The myth is that the reason that you fall asleep after overindulging on Thanksgiving is that turkey meat is overloaded with tryptophan, however, this is just a myth and a tryptophan supplement will not put you to sleep whereas supplementing 5-hydroxytriptamine in the same quantity absolutely would. The reason that you fall asleep on thanksgiving has more to do with vagal nerve overstimulation far more than it has to do with the large neutral amino acid transporter at the blood brain barrier transporting tryptophan preferentially v. branched chain amino acids. The large quantities of carbohydrates found in such meals facilitates the preferential uptake of tryptophan and may well magnify its effects, however, tryptophan, in the levels in turkey meat will not raise your serotonin levels appreciably.

    Tryptophan supplementation does have some marked benefits, some of the benefits accrue from an unusual source. Only 5% of the tryptophan taken in goes to the pathway that ends with the production of serotonin, however, it does increase serotonin. For cognitive enhancement, the kynurenine pathway is of greater importance because the production of quinolinic acid enhance NMDA receptor function. The enhanced NMDA receptor function affects dopamine through calcium dependent mechanisms and depending on the level of enhanced activation, attention and cognitive performance will be enhanced through altered dopamine metabolism and function. On the serotonin side, mood stability is improved through two mechanisms, the direct production of neurotransmitters, and the balance between the kynurenine and serotonin pathways due to, among other things, tryptophan scavenging to the kynurenine pathway which results in a reduction in serotonin and potential difficulties with sleep due to reduced melatonin.

    Having enough tryptophan affords the pineal gland an enhanced substrate for the production of melatonin. In this case, it is important to consider when to take the supplement and get away from bright screens so that the pineal gland is stimulated by the reduction in blue light to make melatonin. The timing of the supplement must be such that the level of serotonin in the brain has gone up from the uptake of tryptophan so that there is a higher concentration of serotonin is very high in relation to the product.

    Particularly during periods of stress, tryptophan supplementation can help improve resilience to acute stressors as well as the regulation of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis. When one is facing a number of problems, sometimes, cognitive flexibility, the ability to entertain different possibilities comfortably, can make all the difference. This is not merely what might seem to some to be nothing but a wordy allusion to the colloquial conception of an open mind, no, what I am discussing is the idea of synaptic plasticity and enhanced attention due to reduced anxiety. Literally, the showing of new tricks to an old dog. Supplementing tryptophan may well also increase memory consolidation during sleep so that an old dog doesn’t just learn the new trick just for the day.

    I have had great experiences with Vaite supplements and they have the best tasting gummies –orangy with no aftertaste. That means that you can take the tryptophan whenever you are supposed to even when there is nothing to drink. The effects are not instantaneous, although chronically depleted individuals would likely respond sooner, and it takes a fair quantity to see the effects one is after. Personally, I have found that taking 4 grams every night about two hours before the time when I would like to be asleep is economically viable and effective. I do believe that there is room for improvement, nevertheless, I am happy with the observed effect.

    It is always a good idea to speak with your physician, however, in this case, particularly if you take other medications that act on serotonin metabolism, it is very important that you do so. The supplement will work and the level of serotonin will improve and there will be enough for the kynurenine pathway so that there is no scavenging. Quinolinic acid levels will also increase and the aforementioned effects on the NMDA receptor will occur. Quinolinic acid is also the limiting factor because, at the very least, there will be a point of diminishing returns. Otherwise, I have found supplementing tryptophan helpful and particularly so in times of stress and Vaite makes a product that is as fun to consume as the non-nutritious kind of gummies!

    Well to get the most important question on everyone’s mind answered NO these gummies do not taste like turkey. They are citrus. But if you are familiar with tryptophan I will tell you I have noticed that my eyes get a little heavier faster, but I take 2 as I am a big guy. Suggested intake is 1. So start there and see how your body reacts. Each gummy has 1000mg of l-trypto and as with all things vitamins/supplements YMMV.
    I’ll focus on the fact they arrived fresh sealed not just around the cap but a seal inside as well (see pics) and the gummies are soft and tasty. They will do when a roast turkey is not around 😉 5 STARS!

    I was excited to try it until I saw the two ingredients for sweetening; xylitol and sorbitol. Those two artificial sweeteners tend to give me bad diarrhea. But if your particular body tolerates those two artificial sweeteners it should be fine. It just would be a disaster if I took it. Got to find one that uses sugar or something else.

    Works great, much better than regular
    l tryptophan capsules. It’s great for sleep but even better for anxiety at 4g/day. I’ve tried many brands and this one is the winner.
