As I get older, workout recovery has become a bigger issue. I saw the GMU SPORT – BCAA and EAA Powder – Essential Amino Acids Hydration and Recovery Drink and decided to try it out.
First, I was fortunate not to suffer one of the main issues with the product. The seal on my container was fully intact and none of the powder had spilled.
The powder has a very pleasant smell, so I was excited to try it. I mixed it with water and it dissolved easily, which can be an issue with some supplements. The flavor was strong, and while not bad especially for a supplement I did not get raspberry from it. Maybe it is the sucralose they use as an artificial sweetener, but to me the straight mixture had an off aftertaste. So, I decided to mix it with my standard protein shake. In the shake, the flavor mellowed and is actually pretty decent so that is how I will use this supplement moving forward.
The ingredient list is solid, for those looking for a BCAA/EAA supplement. And it is made in the USA in an FDA registered facility so the quality control should be top tier. If you do not mind the sucralose used, this could be a solid supplement option for you.

I like the nice supplement blend in this. The flavor was pretty good. It wasn’t the best I’ve tried but not the worst either. I tried the watermelon. As someone in sports, proper hydration is crucial. I felt like this was as good as other electrolyte products I’ve tried. I wish the sweetener used was 100% Stevia and not sweetened with sucralose though. I felt like the size container was a bit overpriced. Overall, it’s a nice product.

I dislike how sweet this is, by my husband said he doesn’t mind it. One scoop is over powering so I end up having to do almost 40oz of water with one scoop to make it drinkable. Husband uses 16 oz of water and tolerates it. It does taste like strawberry lemonade, but just too sweet for me. It mixes well with cold and room temp water. We use a shaker bottle with blender ball and don’t have any issues. I don’t notice at big difference in energy nor did the husband. It does have a good amount of hydration components like magnesium and sodium. Vitamin C is a plus. Husband said it’s okay for recovery but said he has used better products in the past. I just can’t get past the taste and sweetness.

I like that this drink powder is sweet and mixes well. I like watermelon flavor so the powder delivered. There is a good amount of powder so I see one container of this lasting me for a few months.

This product works well for me. I primarily use it for the branched-chain amino acids and L-Lysine, two ingredients that I include in my immune boost and recovery regimen. There is a good amount of both ingredients among the other components in the product, and it is fairly inexpensive compared to some other brands. The powder is fine and dissolves well in water. I use a milk frother to blend it, although there is a bit of residual powder left at the bottom of my glass afterward. However, it’s not enough to worry about wasting the product. I’ve also tried it in warm juice, and it dissolves even better that way.
The taste is quite sweet, so I use less than the recommended amount. Additionally, I add a water enhancer to give it a little more flavor. The powder works similarly to other products I’ve used; my recovery improves when I take it, and I feel more fatigued after my workouts if I skip it. Overall, I am quite happy with this product. It arrived well sealed.

Smelled good, that’s about all I can tell you for sure about the drink mix. Was a huge red flag when I could already smell it before I even opened the package it came in. As soon as I tore open the bag, there was powder flying around. There is no kind of seal on this container at all… or maybe there was a seal and this was an open product? It clearly unscrewed slightly and leaked out into the bag. With no seal, no idea if there should be a safety or freshness seal, and clear evidence that the powder was exposed to elements (you can see the powered mixed with some kind of moisture and was turning red in spots on the outside of the container), there is no way I am trying this. Took some photos to document it and then straight to the trash. Would not recommend this at all. There is no reason a container of drink mix powder should be made nowadays without some kind of seal on it to prevent tampering, maintain freshness, and to prevent spillage.

This mix is great for recovery both during and after any intense workouts or other intense sports. I use it for dirtbike races and for powerlifting at the gym!
