My 2 cents –
I believe the early time of Glow Recipe – they actually begin as a retailer of Korean skincare products. I didn’t agree with their philosophy in the early times because they were against to anything synthetic (even if they can be very helpful) so that most of the products they sold were extract based “water.” After US market matures, many K-beauty companies came to US and they began to sold their products on their own rather than mid-line retailers, then Glow Recipe developed their own product lines.
I feel like this company became a firm skincare product maker – adding some beneficial ingredients with good actives unlike before. All 3 ampoules were made with decent ingredients which were proven to be effective (niacinamide, tranexamic acids, ceramide, etc.) All of them has superb texture (the ceramide serum is slightly thicker but mostly unnoticeable.) They are formulated with many – literally many extracts . I am not really sure whether they are really beneficial for the skin so if you are allergic to some fruits probably you should read the ingredients very carefully.
Anyhow, overall they are decent skincare products and it comes with a small packet of the toner as well. Highly recommended if you are looking for a brightening/hydration (they call it recovery, but it doesn’t have any ingredient particularly useful for the skin regeneration) / glow. All of them are really well made and improved my skin in a week. (Yet, skincare is a long term game – so it may takes longer to see really noticeable result.)
My 2 cents –
4 ½ stars rounded up to 5. The Glow Recipe serums (Soothe, Brighten + Glow Trio) arrived in an untaped box. The three colorful glass bottles, each a mini size of 15 ml or .5 fl oz, all had unsealed caps covering their pumps. Ingredients are listed on the box but not the bottles. A one-time use packet of Cloudberry Bright Essence Toner is included, and ingredients are listed.
I have acne-prone, combination skin and I’ve been using these serums for a week. All three serums had a pleasant, faint scent of their namesake ingredient, but after each serum was absorbed I couldn’t detect anything. One full pump provided great coverage, and the pumps worked well. These serums may be used together (the instructions on the back of the box recommend using the sample toner, then the Avocado, the Guava, and then the Watermelon) but may also be used individually, etc.
Avocado Ceramide Recovery Serum:
This soothing, light green serum contains a lot of botanicals (I’m a fan) and niacinamide, which my skin loves for its anti-acne and pore minimizing properties, but it took a while to absorb. My skin tends to absorb certain moisturizers slowly, and using this serum also caused the other serums to take a lot longer to absorb. However, once absorbed there was no tackiness. So, I’ll only be using this serum on days I’m not in a rush.
Guava Vitamin C Dark Spot Serum:
This light pink serum contains an amino acid (tranexamic acid) which can help even out skin tone over time. It also contains a lot of botanicals, ferulic acid, and five forms of vitamin C. I like to use a Vitamin C serum over my entire face during the day, but many of them can be tacky on my skin. This serum absorbed quickly when I didn’t use the Avocado serum, and my skin wasn’t tacky at all.
Watermelon Glow Niacinamide Dew Drops:
This barely pink niacinamide serum absorbed quickly for me when I didn’t use the Avocado serum, with no tackiness. It left my skin looking slightly dewy, especially when I layered all three serums. This is the only serum that contains the vague “fragrance/parfum”. It also contains an EU 26 fragrance (benzyl benzoate), but these fragrances are listed last.
This is a trio of fun, brightly colored bottled serums that worked well together on my skin; it’s a great combination of ingredients for me.
Vegan and cruelty free, but I didn’t see that information on the box or bottles. Icons on the box state the three bottles should be good for at least 12 months after opening. Two of the products (the Guava and Avocado serums) are “Made in USA with globally sourced materials”. The Watermelon serum is “Made in Korea with globally sourced materials”.
Luffy’s Review Life –
I thought this was like a sampler but it’s actually a set made to be layered according to the instructions. They smell really good, especially the watermelon one so I was a little afraid because I have some fragrance sensitivity but I didn’t get a reaction to any of these. I did have a reaction to glow recipe’s pomegranate serum. I haven’t had a reaction even with layering all 3 of these. I’m currently using these serums with Tatcha’s skin clearing set and my skin is glowing. I don’t wear foundation so I can’t say how well all three work under makeup but I can say that they don’t feel heavy and they don’t pill up if I touch or rub my face. My current routine is Tatcha’s luffa face wash, beauty of Joseon’s red bean pore mask, Tatcha toner, these 3 serums, Saturday skin eye cream, Tatcha water cream, a lip serum and biore Japan water gel sunscreen. My skin is looking really good. These are small and would be great for travel, especially if you just take one with you. I’m taking a weekend trip soon and thinking of just taking one of these with me. Maybe the recovery serum since I plan to be poolside for the weekend. These are moisturizing, healing, and brightening. I’ve actually been trying to clear a patch of irritation near my mouth since I had my son almost 3 years ago and this set and the Tatcha set are finally getting it clear.

I was a bit surprised that at this price point the bottles only contain .5 oz of product each. The bottles are large and have a really nice pump under the cap. They are an ok size for travel but maybe $40-45 seems more reasonable for the set. (I have another mini set from Glow Recipe and that set was $40 for 3 items where one item was the same fill and two that were larger fills. I get that these may be more slightly more expensive formulas but still…)
I like all the items in this set overall. I felt an immediate improvement to my skin’s hydration levels upon applying and I know I’ll see benefits in the long run but I was just disappointed in the value proposition for this set in comparison to all the other products I have by them. The set is cute but I might be slightly embarrassed giving this as a gift to an adult because of the size of the items inside. It looks like it’s designed and sized for a tween.
