I really enjoyed using Fiji Vanua Kava Vanuatu Powder. The flavor is authentic and earthy, which I appreciate in a good kava. It mixes well and provides a calming, relaxing effect without being overwhelming.
The only reason I’m giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is that it could dissolve a bit better; I found myself needing to strain it more than I expected. Overall, it’s a solid product for unwinding after a busy day, and I’ll definitely be buying it again!

i really like this kava. Its a bit expensive but I think its worth it. really nice relaxing effects with a nice head euphoria. 9/10 🙂 Personally i made it with 6 spoons each time in a shaker with 3 alu balls.

I’ve been an avid kava drinker for about 3 years now and every cultivar I have tried from this company has been amazing and also at such a reasonable price point for the quality. This one is strong in the best way and very effective.
I recently started ordering off their website too after discovering how many cultivars they have and have been trying to explore. Super fast shipping there too.
I can’t say enough good things about this kava especially compared to kava I’ve ordered before. It can’t be topped for the quality to price ratio

This review is strictly between the two strains sold by FVK mentioned in the title…The “Vanuatu” got many thumbs up in my searches on various posts and threads…The “Loloma Waka” didn’t, but I bought a bag out of curiosity…
Before I compare, I’ll go over a preparation method just in case something in there helps you…
PREPARATION
First I’ll mention three products that are not essential, but come in very handy during preparation…
1- AWS scale
100 gram capacity
Accurate to a hundredth of a gram
It’s cheap, pocket sized, and reliable

2- Kavafied strainer bag
This bag does not stretch which makes it better than using a T-shirt…It’s also reusable, killing off the need for buying cheesecloth or throw away strainer bags…And the mesh is extremely fine/tight and quite strong…It’s also quite large…One of these bags and you’re all set !!! (See picture for details)

3- Aluball
Everywhere I went doing research on kava they kept mentioning it in posts and threads, but never explained what it was…It’s a simple enough device…It’s a hollow plastic ball that has holes in it that are covered on the inside by fine steel mesh…You unsrew it, fill it with about ½ an ounce of kava powder, screw it back together..Then put it in a cup or so of water inside of a container that you can shake it all with…I use an old Contigo coffee container…Shaking this hard for one to two minutes disrupts the integrity of the kava powder and forces out the kavalactones into the water…The result is that you can get the good stuff from an ounce of kava in two or three minutes without kneading !!! This thing actually works, which I guess is the reason you find it mentioned in many threads across the internet…(See picture)

So to prepare my drink, I weigh out between 29 and 30 grams…This will give you 15 doses per pound…Next I put half of this dose in an aluball and shake it hard for two minutes…I dump the contents of the ball into a strainer bag inside a large plastic bowl…I then shake and dump the other half of the dose…Ok, done with the aluball…Now I knead the kava inside the strainer bag for ten minutes…Squeeze the kava dry and pour it into a cup…Done !!!
COMPARISON
“Loloma Waka”
I suppose nobody across the internet recommended this strain for one simple reason…It’s extremely/sadly/profoundly WEAK stuff…One red flag is it’s dull aroma, another red flag is the lack of numbing mouth and throat after consumption…It takes a long time to kick in, and once it HAS kicked in, there isn’t much to report…A medium strength buzz is all you get, and it lasts roughly one hour tops…Disappointing and a complete waste of money !!!

“Vanuatu”
This is the strain that brought me to Amazon to check out…Numerous separate threads highly recommended this so I thought I’d give it a try…Wow, we’ve got a winner !!! Strong smelling stuff that severely numbs your lips, throat, and mouth after drinking…This was a great sign…It starts kicking in almost immediately, and KEEPS kicking in for quite a while…It sedates, and sedates, and sedates some more…It also takes away some of your sense of balance…Finally it gives you a strange dizzy sensation…Strange in that when you move your head, it takes your brain a moment to catch up…Overall this stuff is worth every penny !!!

This was my first time using Kava powder. It appeared to be strong because my lips were numb while drinking it. However the taste is horrible and it kept me up until 1:00am. You cannot return it so just save your money!

After a day or two of reverse tolerance. I found, this is very heavy. This is what I get at kava bars, the “Van”. It’s basically like drinking beer, with no bad effects of drinking poison. I quit drinking alcohol because of it. I lose weight, my brain and cognition is laser sharp. No bad sleep or hang overs. And I get pleasantly tipsy and euphoric (even dizzy) after 3-4 servings as I drift into sleep.

I read the reviews on this and thought it was going to be fantastic but what I received was less than fantastic. I have to use 3x the normal dose to get a proper effect and the numbing sensation is very little compared to other brands I have tried. I would suggest just not getting kava off Amazon and sticking to reputable websites. It WORKS but it isn’t the best. I also made a batch with hot/warm water and it turned all gooey which was weird and I’ve never had that happen but with room temp water it seemed normal.

I have tried a number of kava products, this is the first one I tried from Fiji Vanua, and I am very impressed just off the first cup, this kava is very sedative and strong compared to other kava products, its stronger then all other kava products I have found, its a lot stronger then the capsules even when I took a lot more then the recommended dose of the capsules, I will say tho this kava is less mood lifting then most kava products, its more sedative, but this is exactly what I bought it for so I am very happy with it, it helps a lot with anxiety and restlessness
honestly I don’t find much difference in the taste of the kava drink between brands, it all just tastes bitter and it numbs your mouth heavily and has even more bitter after taste and I cant cover it up with milk or sugar but they do help, sometimes I sip it over a long time and then once its like half way full I just fill it up with water again to dilute it and add some more milk and sugar, hopefully this info helps someone because I really wish I knew this stuff when I first bought kava powder
I also want to note that this was only 11 dollars more expensive then the other kava powder I have bought in the past, and it was alot better, so I would say its very worth it, this is the highest quality kava product I have gotten
