Bought this to grind pills for my dog. He takes a medicine that has to be mixed with water into a slurry and administered in his mouth by syringe. It’s about as pleasant as it sounds! I was cutting the tablets and crushing them with the back of a spoon until I found this. Not only does this grind the tablet into a fine, even powder, but I use the bottom half of the device to mix the slurry and draw into the syringe. So easy and no mess. I do this three times a day and can confirm this is a solid tool that holds up well.

I have tried many different ways to crush our cats pills and this product, by far, has been the best/easiest item to use!! The pills are crushed into a super small/dust like material which is perfect for us to mix in the cats food. The top pops off to allow storage of extra pills so we can store a weeks worth of pills at a time. We have used for a month and so far we are incredibly happy with our purchase!

Originally purchased the Large Blue Pill Crusher which was outstanding due to the soft rubber overlays that made it easy to grip, probably the best I’ve used. Unfortunately, when I ordered an identical 2nd unit, it looks like company has redesigned and cheapened the unit, so that it is all slippery hard plastic without any soft rubber. It still crushes pills decently, but it’s now much more difficult to screw down hard for effective pill crushing power without losing your grip. The company brags about the new updated design and shows both old and new designs in 2nd their listing photo. Please bring back the soft rubber overlays that made your product unique!

I’ll start off by saying that this isn’t a “new” product for me, exactly. Rather, it’s just me buying the smaller version of a larger unit which I’ve been using, happily, for years.
My wife and I own pets, and over the years, several of these pets have needed to receive medicine at times. Now, giving cats, in particular, medicine is… challenging, at best. (“Impossible” at worst!)
My wife is able to stick a pill down a cat’s throat using her finger, but I can’t make myself do that… call it a phobia if you like, but the idea of harming the animal sort of freaks me out.
Using “Pill pockets” or other “food wraps” is pretty effective… until the first time that the cat bites down and discovers what’s inside. After that, using “pill pockets” becomes essentially impossible. So, I’ll use that approach if I can, but often can’t.
SO… the last trick, which works nicely when the pill involved isn’t TOO nasty-tasting, is this: crushing it and mixing it into food. Usually a pretty fragrant food, which they’re really fond of, works best. This WON’T work for particularly terrible-tasting pills, but for most, it works pretty well.
And the larger version of this has been what I’ve been using to do my pill-crushing for about fifteen years now. The only complaint I ever had with this was that the compartment seemed too large for the volume of crushed pill powder I was left with once done.
Well, I’m going to be away for a while, and I’m taking my two furrballs with me (while the others will stay with her), and I needed my own copy for this period. I was assuming I’d just get the same one, but was pleasantly surprised to find that there’s a smaller version as well.
The smaller version is far better suited to the amount of medication you’ll usually give to pets, or to small children. The larger one is best suited, honestly, to “adult-sized” doses, in my opinion.
It’s trivially easy to use. Drop the pill(s) into the compartment, and screw the top section in. I’ll usually screw and unscrew the last portion several times to ensure that I get the pill fully crushed. I then simply remove the top (tapping it on the side of the crushing compartment if there’s any residual pill powder on the “core” of it), and then just dump the contents of the crushing compartment over the food (again, tapping it if necessary to get as much out as possible.
If you’re using the same medicine every time, there’s no real need to wash it every time, but if you’re doing multiple types of medications using one crusher, you’ll likely want to wash it off every time. That’s easy… dishwashing soap and a nice hand washing works perfectly, along with air drying (I doubt it’s “dishwasher safe,” however, so don’t try that!)
It’s a very simple design… not many chances for things to go wrong… but it works very, very well. It reminds me of my own childhood, with my mom crushing stuff with a spoon to give to the kids. This is much, much better.
If you have a need to do what this does… you’re not going to find many better options.

Love this crusher! I had a much more expensive metal pepper grinder style which was very complicated and this is MUCH better, at a bargain price. I could not easily crush my very large hard items in the metal pepper grinder without pre cutting down. This is fast, easy and does a terrific job! With no trouble at all, tighten the crusher, which crushes, turn back an forth for a finale grind on the pill. Super easy to handle. If you have hand limitations, you will find this easy to grasp and turn as the handle is large, easy to grip and comfortable..
The only issue is the lid for the compartment that lets you house the pills will not sit tight and falls off. I can only send a very inexpensive item back to hope for one that works. Since I am only concerned with the crusher I can live. But it would be nice to have.
And I paid for same day delivery of $2.99, did not come till next day. Waste of shipping money.

I wasn’t sure how well this would work, but I love it. You can only do one pill at a time, and some of the really hard coated ones need to be on their back or front, not on a side. But it really crushes them down into a powder (plus pieces of the hard coating). Works well and I would recommend it.
